Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Stages Roster |DT2| oh dear...

I just checked New Generation Pictures' Twitter, they haven't really talked about MvCI in the same way they do about SFV. I guess Marvel &/or Capcom went with a new studio for the voice acting.

They're probably using whatever studio Marvel uses for their works.

The problem with bringing in Marvel Games for more input is that Marvel Games ends up with more input.

I also remember the LMHS format getting alot of backlash, lots of bitching about Sentinel cr.H, and lots of bitching about no X.

When UMVC3 first released, everyone was convinced that Wesker was top tier, Phoenix was unplayable, Doom was the new Mags, Magneto was Storm-tier, and Vergil was mediocre because he was too meter reliant. Also we had years of underestimating Zero for having "no damage" and Morrigan was near the bottom of the tierlist until Chris G started bodying everyone in NY with her.

MVC3 was amazing and I prefer it to MVC2. With a few balance patches/updates, it would have been the best fighter this decade. It's been one hell of a ride.

I imagine we won't really have an idea of what "end-game" MVCI looks like until late 2018 at earliest.
Do you mean Sentinel c.M?

This is mostly accurate, but Japan was on Vergil day 1. Only the West overlooked his potential.

Morrigan was abandoned by most of her userbase once the air dash nerf was announced. It turned out to be one of the main reasons she became powerful, lol. She didn't give a damn about safe air dashes.

Yeah c.M, my bad lol. Japan knew how anime Vergil was from the start but I didn't see any Americans do well with him for a long time. People were winning tournaments in America with jank teams like Spencer/Wolverine/Wesker.

I barely knew any Morrigans in vanilla aside from JJJ.

Just forum folks. I think JJJ stuck with her. But check SRK pre-release. The Morrigan forums were all doom and gloom.

I'd imagine that they just recorded at the same studio as Marvel Animation's cartoons for the convenience of the Marvel VAs. We won't know for sure until we see the credits in the game, but it would explain why New Generation Pictures was seemingly dropped. A shame, considering that NGP did (U)MvC3's voice acting.

Ah lol I actually ran the Magneto UMVC3 combo thread at SRK, like 80% of us were dropping/close to dropping Mags after his Ultimate changes. Turns out he ended up basically the same except we went from 7x Hyper Grav loops to 4x.

I was called crazy for claiming that Vergil was high-top tier multiple times. People just assumed that I was a Vergil fanboy so I was always going to claim he was good.

I still maintain that Marvel 3 is the best Capcom fighter made in the last generation. This game lasted so long with 1/50th of the support of SF4.

I think the history books would've been A LOT different if Marvel 3 came before SF4.

On UMVC3... I think most people who actually theory crafted well enough knew that Wesker was on the down trend and that Zero was the best character in the game (alongside Magneto, Doom, Vergil even Viper). The character that was never in the conversations was Morrigan. I think even for a couple of years people did'nt start putting her in top 5. I think in the first year of UMVC3 ChrisG and Dieminion put Morrigan as top 5 in the game and people scoffed at them LOL! So the community definitely got that aspect wrong but I think most other things about the game were predicted well enough.

TAC Infinite kinda screwed up the conversation because it made a character like Morrigan much stronger than she actually is.

TACs in general remain the biggest black mark on Marvel 3. Not bad netcode, not no story mode, not X factor, not TODs, not Soul Fist/Zero Loops.... TACs.

I'm still bitter She-Hulk lost her air dash that they gave her in test builds of UMVC3.
You can make She Hulk good without an air dash. That sort of thing is a cheap bandaid fix to a more core problem and the fact that they should never have nerfed her to begin with.

The Marvel Patch that people have successfully worked on has made She Hulk into a monster and she doesn't have an air dash.

I liked it because it made her feel more like Rogue in MVC2

The backlash for Marvel 3, what I could remember, was:

-damage output is so high, babby's first bread and butter combos do 50% /gimmedisgoddamnmic
-it has less characters than marvel 2, therefore FUCK THIS
-I'm born in the 90s and it doesn't have cyclops or venom, therefore FUCK THIS
-FUCK THIS X FACTOR SHIT
-FUCK THIS DARK PHOENIX SHIT WE NEED A PATCH

looking back it's actually hilarious just how spoiled we were. Marvel 3 is infinitely more polished than Marvel 2, the voice acting is god tier, the character choices were far more diverse and better at representing Capcom and Marvel's history than Marvel 2 (despite the number of characters being lower)... the game will be remembered as a masterpiece.

Marvel Infinite looks like it's not receiving anywhere CLOSE to the same love. There's an element of weirdness and pessimism surrounding this game's pre-launch cycle that just wasn't present with Marvel 3, even with those complaints I listed above.

It's also worth noting that week one of MvC3 there were timeouts and people were concerned that characters (minus SUPER OP WEEK 1 SENTINEL) weren't strong enough.

Don't forget that OST. I really hope Infinite has some remixes of like MvC3's victory theme....but so far Infinite's OST has been disappointing.

As far as Vergil goes in the first month of UMvC3, yeah I remember thinking he was just okay then the Spiral Sword combos started developing. People in the US were definitely more on that Nova train at first though.

I know I'm late to the praise tvc and dunk on mvci fest, but I must say as much as I loved tvc and it exposed me to some cool characters and franchises I never knew about... mvci has a far more appealing roster even with what's just confirmed. Call me a filthy casual but I'm not losing sleep over a fighting school character or an onimusha character not making the roster.

Being totally honest, back when UMVC3 launched, i was expecting that, if we ever get a UMVC4 (or the rumored UMVC3X), this Marvel and Capcom characters would totally get into the game, either by came back from previous games, or being totally new to the series:

Marvel:

The Vision
Daredevil
Silver Surfer
Green Goblin (Probably)
Black Phanter (We got it)
MoonKnight
Nick Fury (Or Punisher) (Similar style to Chris Redfield)
Black Widow
Ant-Man
Cable
Black Bolt
Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers)
The Hood
Beast
Gambit
Cyclops
Nightcrawler
Falcon
Medusa
Star-Lord
Gamora (we got her)
She Hulk

Capcom:

Asura
Leon Kennedy
Wesker
Date Masamune
Megaman X
Captain Commando
Urien (i don't know why)
Protoman
Falcon (from Power Stone)
Sigma (we got him)
Hayato
Ruby Heart
Juri (from SFIV)
Rogue
Shoma (from Rival Schools)

...I guess i was wrong, and a lot

After they nerfed her in Ultimate. In vanilla she was winning tournaments sans air dash.

Right. She lost her slide and gained an air dash to compensate. They ended up just giving her slide to Hawk Eye. She was fine in MVC3 since her slide let her get in and she could combo from crA easily.

New Marvel Universe poster.
Lockjaw front and almost center?

You know, I'd be totally okay with Lockjaw as a DLC character. Who doesn't love a giant dog? I have no idea what Lockjaw does, I just like how he looks. And since he'd mean a dog rigging had to be done, throw in Amaterasu as the Capcom counterpart to reuse that.

Lockjaw teleports

Why does everyone think that because Spiderman has a Green Goblin reference in his level 3, that suddenly he is a shoe-in. It makes me feel the complete opposite.

Did you think we were getting Groot because Rocket Racoon had him as an assist?

I feel it makes it murkier if we did get a Green Goblin (whom I've wanted forever). Feels like the only fan service we are getting for Goblin is that moment in the super.

It was because a marvel rep hinted at green goblin because of that super during the Comic-Con panel.

Jay Ong hinted at Green Goblin being playable (unprovoked, if I'm not mistaken) during the MvCI panel at SDCC.

where can I find the uncut version of this? I am doing some very important work. very important.

I would appreciate the help.

I am guessing these are official renders or something like that?

From the MvCI panel at Comic-Con:
They spoke about Spider-Man's level 3 hyper combo and how the Green Goblin's pumpkin bombs are used against the opponent after flying out of nowhere. Ong asked, "where is the Green Goblin?" before telling the panel to stay tuned for more character reveals.
For context, Jay Ong is a Marvel Games producer who is working on the game and knows the roster. He rhetorically asked about Green Goblin and answered his own question with "stay tuned." Why would he bring up a character unprovoked and tell people to "stay tuned for more character reveals" if Goblin wasn't coming? Of course, this doesn't confirm anything, but it'd be really dickish of Ong to get peoples' hopes up like that for no reason.

Lockjaw with teleport and Pet Avengers summons would be fantastic.
It would. We do need a "Wait... what?!" character for the game. Lockjaw would certainly fit, especially if he summons the Pet Avengers as his moveset.

Aw, now I want Lockjaw for the game. But that's probably very unlikely to happen.

I'm still bitter She-Hulk lost her air dash that they gave her in test builds of UMVC3.

You're confused. In early builds of MvC3, EVERY character had an air dash. That's where the She-Hulk animation comes from, not UMvC3 testing. Capcom later decided that MvC3 should be more about movement diversity than universal options, so everyone lost it. Some of the animations remained in the files.

I don't really want Black Bolt. He seems at a disadvantage in a game where everyone screams out their special moves and calls in their partners with a yell.

"SPIDER-MA-" Double KO!

I just want the dog. It's a series that had Amingo, Shuma-Gorath, and Phoenix Wright as oddball characters. Lockjaw would just be a proud tradition carried on.

Well that makes more sense for speculation, but this is Capcom we are talking about right?
I would want nothing more then Gobby, but this could be taken so many different ways... like a loose way of addressing roster leaks and that there are still surprises looming in general. I find an enemy's attack in another character's super very strange personally.

But Marvel ultimately has the final say on their side of the roster.

EDIT: Also missing Bengus. I hope Bengus or Shinkiro or someone is drawing Arcade Mode endings at the very least.

With how character stories turned out in SFV?

I hope Bengus stays away.

Credits to Zackat for combining Abigail from SFV with Chun-Li from MvC:I.

I know a few people who prolly would get horny out of it.

At this point Marvel seems to be pushing him, he's on the new show, this image, on the VR game, you know, it's not impossible.

Maybe at some point we'll get like the Doggo DLC pack: Talbain, Good Boy, Lockjaw, and Amaterasu.

I'm not confused, she had a forward air dash in UMVC3 early builds. Like just her. I know that everyone had an air dash animation at some point and they put it in the H&H mode.

One possibility is that Green Goblin wasn't decided on as a DLC character until fairly recently (since only Black Panther and Sigma appear to have story mode roles), long after Spider-Man was given his new level 3.

It's not quite the same thing, but I remember a bunch of people thinking that Capcom would never include Hawkeye after giving "Aim of Hawkeye" moves to Taskmaster.
