2) Are you sure you're using the splat roller? Carbon roller can roll but it doesn't do 100 damage while rolling.
3) Latency issues between you and the target may cause the game to not register certain attacks correctly :( this is something that happens sometimes in Splatoon 1 as well, and will hopefully be very rare.

Ink resistance is in the game but does not give you the ability to take roller rolls without dying lol.


Aerospray MG has the Curling Bomb Launcher, which lets the user throw Curling Bombs for free for a limited amount of time.

I like this game and I hate it. There is pretty much no in between.

I like it as it is a shooter on the Switch and I have historically liked shooters over the years.
I hate it as no matter what I do, I suck pretty hard. It is funny, I am almost never last, but it seems like I am always 2nd or 3rd on my team. I think I was 1st once. That was it.

I often have the most kills too, and I feel as if I am splatting paint on every surface I see, yet I just am always 2nd or 3rd. I just do not get it.

I feel as if perhaps abilities are the key to being better but the fact I do not get a whole lot of time really is not helping my cause at all.

The thing is I felt the same exact way about the first one, but I thought perhaps it would be different with this one.

Oh well. I will probably just stick to Salmon Run. I feel as if I can actually contribute in it. It just seems like a game that definitely rewards those who put more time into it than not, unless I am missing something, and I have never been a fan of that system. For example even though I barely play Battlefield 1, I can hop on a match and still do just fine. Sure there may be 1 or 2 really high ranked players I feel are just dominating, but I just attribute a lot of that to they know the maps incredibly well. I never feel as if I am being outclassed by a higher rank just because of what they have equipped.

Perhaps I am dead wrong with my assessment of this game and I just need to get better, but it no doubt seems to favor higher ranks with better abilities and gear.

Why does being number 1 on your team matter as long as you win? Why do you care?

Apologies if you already know this and I misunderstood, but walls don't count, it was a big source of confusion with people in the first game.

Also, like I explained earlier in the thread the paint numbers are not always a great indicator of how much you contributed to the match. It is possible to rack up very high turf numbers with some weapons by just running around and painting, without actually maintaining control over the areas you have painted, this allows the enemy to come back into an area you've painted and paint over it in their color. The most effective strategy is to establish control of key areas on the map to prevent enemies from getting to your turf and painting over it, but playing this way will not necessarily provide you with huge turf numbers.
 
Is anyone using the Thermal Ink perk on clothing? I haven't really seen what it is that it's doing. It says that it "Allows you to track players hit with shots from your main weapon".

I'm thinking it's similar to what happens when you use the Sting Ray special and you can see players through walls but I suppose I'll have to keep looking...

It's exactly the same effect, but it only lasts for a bit after shooting. Also, you can't see enemies with it if they're in their ink.

Certain things don't work with it, though. Like Blaster indirects. for... Some reason.
 
I think my meter was supposed to break but the game said there weren't that many players right now so my rank didn't change.

Also the rainmaker route for Sturgeon Shipyard is stupid. The numbers in that stage don't make much sense,

People don't even ink when they respwn
and it's only the last minute that matters... everything intill then is fluff

yeah this is how I feel. Better to get good strategic places in the start and just fill out spawn over the course of the match since they can't get it anyways.
 
Is there anything really "exclusive" about any of the gear sold on SplatNet? It seems like it's more expensive than when it's sold in the regular stores but I don't know what real differences any of it has.
 
In turf war, the most important thing, BY FAR, is sticking together. Ink strategy, etc all come second to that.

What seems to work best is ink lines to travel fast to the middle. The holes will be filled in after respawns.
 
So recently I bought the game. I'm generally very bad at games, especially action-oriented ones. After having some fun with single player and realizing that I'm not going to be very good at this game, I decided to try multi.
Well, it was terrible. I mean, I was.
Default weapon did not do much for me so I decided to change it as soon as I could. Somehow I figured out that a charger would be a good choice for me, so I went with that.
I mostly lost, and always have been 3/4 in my team. One thing I noticed, was that there weren't really many players going with the charger, so I thought that it might be good to change it. So I bought a Tentatek Splattershot.

And then I started feeling godlike. Well, I did loose some matches, but ever since changing the weapon I always was at the very top of the team. That is not to say that I suddenly became even a bit good at the game, but I really felt like doing something.

I'm having a job interview tomorrow but I can't stop playing, damn you Nintendo.

tl;dr - If you are new to the game and you suck, try different weapons.
 
I have no idea how some people can be so bad and yet still make it to B rank. Jesus christ, Rainmaker is not a deathmatch!

You need control of the stage, otherwise that last minute will be spent fighting to get out of your own spawn. Respawn should be spent filling in things to get Special, or making a new path. Not covering just to cover.

Different Main Abilities that can't be bought from the in-game stores (but can be bought off of other Inklings you come across that were wearing the SplatNet gear). The bottom of each gear's store page shows what it's normal Main is.

Edit: Yeah, the ability you see when you scroll down is what it would have if you bought it in-game. They could clarify that more!

Ugh agreed! I hate when people do this. Also when someone is inking the same path you are like right beside you, thats not helping anyone. There are just certain courtesies that go without saying, shame! to those that don't oblige these unspoken courtesies.

Ugh. Nothing but 1-staff chaff on SplatNet. I'm pretty sure one of the things they're selling is the headband you start the game with too, which is more than a little sad.

Is this true? Your points do go up when you paint walls, I was paying attention to that.
Does that not necessarily mean it'll count towards Turf though?
 
My "Agent 4 stats" seem to be stuck at 34% even though I completed all the stages and collected all the scrolls/sardenium.

Do I need to complete all the stages with each weapon for 100%?
 
What control scheme do you all recommend for us Splatoon virgins? For what its worth, I love playing my Switch games with split joy-cons so I am leaning that way, but I thought it would be best to consult veteran GAF Splatooners. I would also like to know if I should use the motion controls or turn them off?

I'm gonna have to send my joycons back to nintendo they disconnect like crazy while playing this game. should've did it at launch.
