I thought it already closed down..... lol
I thought we would get PS5 in fall 2019, but after seeing how small the jumps have been for Pro and Scorpio, i've changed my mind to Fall 2020 at the earliest.
I think how well DQXI does on PS4 in Japan will be a good indicator of how well MHW will do.
I mean both franchise that sells gangbusters and are trying to transition to the PS4.
It will definitely give an indication of the ceiling for PS4 games. I mean look how the YSO predictions for DQ11 on PS4 have already influenced how people think MHW is going to sell on PS4: before very few if any reckoned it would be a million seller.

If it isn't MHW, what was the unannounced game supposed to sell 2 millions this FY ?
I am actually surprised it is alive this long lol. Even S-E killed their flopping title muxh faster lol.
in the past, generations were kickstarted by a losing company keen for a reset. See the Mega Drive, Dreamcast, Xbox 360 etc. A new generation is a way to reset the dial and start building a user base. The Mega Drive and 360 literally only did what they did because of this.I don't think there's any good reason for either Sony or Microsoft to push their next-gen consoles before 2020. Even though the PS4/XBone have been out for almost 4 years now, in many ways it feels like the generation has just started, due to all the cross-gen titles, remasters, and extended development cycles. Not to mention they both just released or are about to release mid-gen upgrades. And considering both of their consoles are still selling just fine, I don't see what the motivation to quickly jump to the next gen would be.
If it isn't MHW, what was the unannounced game supposed to sell 2 millions this FY ?

But now with Microsoft and Sony essentially having muscled out any new entry by pouting billions of losses upon losses to build their brands, and Nintendo having been forced to be innovative to compete, that paradigm has been nerfed.
I was sure the Xb1X would be a new gen for this reason, MS taking their shot at a reset. It would have at least had a clear position if they did that.
The thing is, while MS is clearly losing to Sony worldwide, they're not doing badly. They'll always be an also-ran in Europe and nonexistent in Asia, but they have a strong base of support in America. So they don't really have that much of a motivation to reset, because there's not much for them to change.
Capcom isn't aiming only for 2m, where does this come from? They forecast big sales outside Japan. They wouldn't even bother with so low target.
They had an unannounced game planned for this FY supposed to sell 2M, and it's not MHXXHD. I don't see it being anything else than MHW.
Unless they have a surprise game under their coat.
It's a recent phenomenon that Japanese developers put their games on consoles that don't even push million sellers in Japan.Exactly which consoles that 'don't push million sellers' has a main MH game been released on before?
There wasn't a 2m anywhere. Japanese and western forecast for total software was too high to be covered from the known titles.
Yup, their forecast only mentions "major title", but doesn't have sales target.

How many times have we discussed that already? Ha ha.

By the way, the 2m everyone is so focused on was for MHXX... and we all know how that turned out.

I don't know why people are saying that. It's unannounced but they never put any sales figures to the forecast for it.
1 million shipped seems too much for the Switch install base. Apparently the massive expectations that some people had here (800k-900k FW) were shared by japanese retailers.

It's depends too much on the availability of a stationary display and a power outlet for playing games.Something is wrong with PS4's ability to large titles.
I think you'll see a 3-4m tomorrow.
Nope. It's depends too much on the availability of a stationary display and a power outlet for playing games.
That made me wonder if we could find TV sales to get an idea of the TV install base static home consoles require. A quick google unearthed this:It's depends too much on the availability of a stationary display and a power outlet for playing games.
You could play many games on the gamepad without any TV already.Nope.
Wii U has eight half million sellers in Japan, three are million sellers, and one a 1.5 million seller.
I have a question, maybe Chris or others can help with it.
3DS has sold 23-24 milions, Obviously this sales are mainly because it has good games and Nintendo games.
My question is about another point that I'm not sure if it is currently affecting those huge sales and it is all the models 3DS has. We have 3ds, 3ds LL, n3ds, n3ds LL, 2ds, N2ds, etc.
I think all the models helped a bit to sell more consoles to the same demographic (basically same people), i mean, me for example, I have 2 regular 3ds (first model), a N3ds model (ambassador model) and a N3ds XL model (bought in Japan when I was there) and maybe I will get a N2DS LL too for my collection. And to be franky i'm not a handheld guy XD.
I believe that Switch don't have all this kind of models/upgrades on his lifespan, maybe another one smaller but I don't see many options to enforce people to buy another system to replace the first one.
How can this affect the total sales of the machine in Japan?
Nope.
Wii U has eight half million sellers in Japan, three are million sellers, and one a 1.5 million seller.

I wouldn't say that RE5 sold 1 million but ok.
That shows how "million sellers" metric is irrelevant.
Maybe we could see a return of "conservative Capcom" and have a 2.5m forecast for MHW for the FY.
Does MHW have an specific release date?? (I remember something like early 2018).
The Switch shouldn't have as many form factors as the 3DS, but I fully expect a smaller, self-contained Switch in a couple of years, and a New Switch after that.
Because that's the sum of 5 + Gold + Selection.Why not?
That shows how "million sellers" metric is irrelevant.
Yep, every developer when they make a game thinks "we don't want to sell a million of this game in Japan".

Because that's the sum of 5 + Gold + Selection.
They are different imo, and shouldn't be put all together in the same basket.
How is that? That shows how "million sellers" metric is irrelevant.
