I hope it's for a demo only, because it's a total joke of a car list for NA.

That has to be a demo?

No, it´s the real deal. I redid the count and i got 61 unique models that are not fantasy cars, GT Vision or duplicates, you know, 61 real life cars. This is out of the 135 known cars so far, list is on GTPlanet.

If you like GT Vision, you add 20 models or so to the list, the rest are duplicates (like the safety car versions) and fantasy created models, like the Mustang and NSX all have Gr3, Gr4 and Rally versions.

RaceRoom, AC, Pcars, Forza, iRacing, they all offer more diversity and a much greater number of models. This is the first time a main entry on the GT series is badly outnumbered by the competition. I´m not even going into the track list because it´s a much worse problem.

Most glaring omission on that list is of course, the Ford GT

I'm surprised they didn't include Base Models and Anniversary Editions for every car as well.

...

I...honestly would assume this was a joke if it weren't in a video. My early optimism is wearing thin. Any chance this is from a demo version?

Edit: Fuck.

yikes
This actually kinda nudges me towards the notion that GTS is basically their way of testing out and perfecting the online mode (while getting the hardcore to buy it for full price) and that a proper (and awesome) GT7 is on the way in a few years with a proper meaty traditional single player mode and an online mode that further builds on what they learned from this game. And all that "this could've been GT7" is just PR talk for "buy this game now please instead of waiting for GT7"

What's funny is I'd be absolutely down to buy this game day 1 if they actually said GT7 was definitely going to be coming out later with a traditional career mode, more cars, tracks and other enhancements (just like I bought GT5 Prologue in the leadup to GT5). With the way they've left it, I'm waiting till this hits the bargain bin.

And yes, while they've said they will be supporting this game with updates, GT5 Prologue also got updates. It had double the number of cars at the end of its life compared to when it launched. So that does not necessarily mean this is the title they go forward with from now on.

Problem is, they just don´t have the content. Kaz said they ditched the PS3 models because they were not up to standards of the PS4, so they started from scratch, again.

That´s also why most of the tracks are bland and patched together for a quick fix, because they just don´t have PS4 assets ready to go.

They are just reaping the benefits of releasing GT6 on the PS3 after the PS4 was launched. Nobody could´ve predicted they would be behind the schedule, right?

The online focus towards the hardcore isn´t gonna stick, hardcore isn´t upbeat about a Mustang rally cars or two fantasy weirdly banked fictional oval tracks... in a game that doesn´t have any car that traditionally races on oval tracks.

The more people find out about this game, the more people are going to be pissed off that this is just totally weird and unexpected.

I think PS5 backward compatibility with PS4 may be a godsend for PD and Kaz with a potential GT7 at this rate honestly. And if Sony followed through on certain things that they did with the Pro, it may even end up being one of the first titles that ships with a potential (and very strongly advertised) PS5 patch than enhances visuals further for PS5 owners, while still allowing the game to be sold to the large PS4 install base.

Edit: and to clarify, by godsend, I mean do GT4 & GT5 numbers in sales as opposed to say something like GT6, which, while in comparison to its competitors still demolishes them, but would still not be preferred over sales like the former.

Video title is a bit misleading as It's only for all cars in the build that was being shown in Tokyo. There should be more playable cars when it releases.

But there´s already 135 known cars out of the 150 that will ship in the game. Of those you have 61 unique models excluding Vision GT and fantasy versions.

Even with 15-25 unknown cars it doesn´t change much, it´s almost GT5 Prologue bad.

Any day now Kaz will say that the car count for GTSport is low because making car models for PS4 quality takes 6 months per car, but that we shouldn't worry because the GTSport models are future proof.

I don't think you'll get an offline career mode in a GT title ever again.

After GT Sport release you'll get 3 years of FIA-affiliated track/car updates with sponsored live stream events. Then they'll start considering the next-gen GT for release around 2022/3 for PS5. You believe a competitive sports title will have substantial offline content in 2022? Even FIFA will have dumped offline by then.

Didn't FIFA just add a new, full-on story mode with "The Journey"? I think you may be over-estimating a trend, even if it's what an individual dev may want. PD making significantly less game content for Gran Turismo is probably due to its own circumstances.

Why would Fifa dump offline content when EA seems to be doubling down on it now. Last year featured the first ever story mode in a Fifa game, and they wouldn't have continued on with it this year if they didn't see positive results from it. Not to mention it was seemingly enough of a success that they decided to do it in Madden as well now, a franchise that has zero competition. They did a campaign in Titanfall 2 and are doing a campaign in Battlefront 2 as well. They took away always-online in need for speed at the same time as well. It's quite obvious EA is seeing good results and feedback in general by putting a decent amount of focus on offline content for their games. Also provided funding for a completely offline experience with Unravel, and a fully offline playable game with A Way Out, with the dev for the latter on stage during the conference, telling people to please play the game in couch co-op instead of online.

lol what? How long did you take to complete a race lol
GT5 has around 20 hours of SP.....only jumps to hundreds if you did the endurance races which hardly anyone did, and the people who did do it mostly cheesed their way through.
Heh I'm probably on my first few cars by that point perfecting the upgrades, but fair enough I'm certainly not rushing things. Strictly talking about the total playtime you'll get out of it without experimenting with stuff or doing things over and over would still put older GTs a lot higher than GTS just based on the content. I'm not criticising it for the online racing, I'm sure it's great if you're into MP, it looks amazing too. I'm just looking at it from a SP gamer perspective, which doesn't make it look quite as great. I'm sure you and the others who defend GTS love MP so you aren't really affected by this new direction GT is taking, if you can't look at it from the eyes of a SP gamer then maybe you shouldn't defend the criticism.

Anyone knows the resolution on regular PS4?

is the Audi A1 in the game?

thanks.

I think it's just 1080p. The game is still under development and most likely still getting optimised, so I hope they can get the frame rate at a locked 60fps.

GT Sport on PS4 Pro: 4K impresses, but what about 1080p support?
UPDATE: Enhanced MSAA as well as higher frame-rates confirmed for full HD users.

Pro runs the game at higher frame rate over regular PS4.

To be fair, The Journey is a unique mode where you play as an individual that you stat boost through different tasks and which on completion can be used in your online team.

I think that will definitely stay as they try to push seasons/cup competitions into online only. The future being stat boost your players in offline tasks, take part in online Champions League.

Similar to GT Sport, stat boost your driver in offline modes, take part in online weekend invitationals.

Its...odd...to me how Polyphony seemingly made a big shift towards the motorsports aspect of the game, but missed the opportunity to include a PCARS type career mode that actually tried to simulate motorsports...

big missed opportunity for people like me that prefer offline content...

It seems they're going for that type of thing with the Sport mode - There's an image up on GT Planet (sorry - I can't embed or link it here for some reason!) where the user is in Sport mode and is displayed with a calendar showing all the events the player can join.(like PCars career menu).

So I'm thinking the theory behind that is that there will be a lot of events in Sport mode and this will effectively be the player's "career".

Also, here's some interesting screens of a replay which can display proper race data. Maybe this could be the basis for some kind of (possible) B-spec mode in the future?

So there are no fucking old Ferrari's in this game?

And Microsoft is going to lock Forza behind Windows 10?

And I preordered this digitally?

(goes to cut wrists)

Seriously, though, that is one shit car list for old car lovers.

But whatever. Still excited to see what they have for me.

Microsoft would do well to get their games on Steam. They are being so stupidly stubborn it makes my blood boil.

That video clearly says so far.....even from the 135 car list we have its missing the Acura dealership. GTS will have over 150 cars is the official number.

I just can't see there not being a Ford GT. Kaz loves that car.

In the older GT games, I would do the events (FF Challenge, Japanese Sportscar Challenge, etc.) over and over to try different cars and tuning setups. I would get far more use out of them than just playing them once...

I could also drop out if I had something set wrong without being penalized or messing up other people's games. I could speed into corners and slow down by ramming people, do donuts and crash into the walls then just drop out and reset the race if I wanted to. I could do all types of stuff that is frowned on/impossible/banworthy in online races because it's a game and that is fun to me.

Ummm.....you know thats what arcade mode is for and there's no restrictions in arcade. Still I do miss tournaments. Hoping arcade mode will have an vent creator of some sort or the later stages of the SP being championships.

To me, till the extended end credits, but I don't know if the folks on that site counted the first or second one. Regardless, it's way more than 20 hours on average for the folks on that website, and I also agree. GT5's career mode lasted me way longer than 20 hours, even before reaching the first credits sequence.

There's a massive difference between the first and second credits. Thats a pretty big assumption to make. I was counting till the first credit, since that is what the vast majority of people get to before going to MP.

There is no mechanical upgrades in this game is there? Only tuning and such?

There are performance upgrades tied to "Mileage" (a currency earned from tests etc), but these are just stat upgrades, not like the upgrading in traditional GT's

Not really a conspiracy theory, but the new Ford GT was the cover car for Forza 6. ;) (it even had its own achievement)

Now he says that GTS is over-specced for future 8k consoles... Didn't he also say that the GT5 car models were 20 years futureproof, lol?

Then he said the following: "It takes six months to create a single car. It's over-specced for PS4 Pro. So we are building for future versions of the console rather than the one we see today".

I do find it intriguing that Kazunori Yamauchi would openly reference a future console and that Gran Turismo Sport is being built in a way that it can naturally exist in an 8K environment.

Lots of new (to me at least) info here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJna26X1CEw

This video is great. Everyone should watch it. Some things to take away

- Tuning is all in but no part shop
- Livery is not only for cars but also for helmet and suits (not sure if you can make custom though).
- Photo sharing space
- Scapes are stunning and you can even have the car drive in some of them
- Max driver level seems to be 50
- MP has Ranked races, quick play races and lobbies
- I think there is still a lot to see from SP, as people have only gone over the first line. Stage 1 mission challenge already has several races for instance, alongside quirky stuff. Circuit experience is for improving your times via a tutorial.
- Certain scapes are exclusive to what manufacturer you join with.
- Arcade has custom race option (wish it wasn't blocked out >.<)

I'd also add, leaderboards for the SP content.

The Mileage system sounds fuckin ingenius. Its lvl seem to be tied to some power lvls for tuning. I dont know if it's better than the classic realistic way of applying actual parts, but I'm all fucking in on it. I deffinitly wanna see how it works.
