I think it's the other way around. Kuririn would always be thrown out early due to whatever is in Toriyama's outline, so due to his popularity he got those 3 focus episodes before the tournament proper started.
 
I don't have a problem with how Krillin went out, people thought he'd be important because of the focus he got and now there is an element of unpredictability. My issue with that episode is that they didn't spend enough time on Krillin vs Majora.
 
I don't have a problem with Krillin being knocked out first, I just wish it was a sacrifice over carelessness.

I've liked Kale as a character more after 101, so I think her not getting knocked out and being able to continue in the tournament was a success.

I wish Kale's development didn't have to come at the cost of Caulifla's, but I've accepted them fucking her over for Kale.
 
The problem with Krillin's KO wasn't just that it was poorly written (which it was), it's that it was crammed into the last minute or so of the episode and the character who knocked him out doesn't even fight afterwards, they straight up disappear. Sure, it's in character for Frost to pull something like that off but it doesn't make it any less dissatisfying since we don't even know if Frost will fight 18 (hell, we don't know when we'll see him next), let alone that he'll get his comeuppance.

If he does fight 18, it's worth it for me. The fact is, if they were going to do anything with that they would have done it already.

I was hoping that'd be a chance for a Piccolo and 18 team up.

I think it's a bit early to be saying they are not going to develop Caulifla.
 
The big issue with the Krillin situation is that theyre not following up with the premise of the arc, which was "strength isnt everything, you have to be smart!" Thats what makes characters like Krillin and Muten Roshi appealing because they have tricks up their sleeve and could potentially eliminate enemies Goku could not. Krillin showed in the Saiyan and Namel sagas that hes a survivor and can help turn the tide, so it was really out of character for him to act the way he did, it feels like they just didnt have enough ideas.

Well see how they treat the rest of the characters, but Im afraid the B tiers will be eliminated without contributing something the A players couldnt do. If the end of the arc relies on "powerful guy vs powerful guy" then it has failed.

If it becomes something where the strongest among all galaxies rebel against the angels, them we got something interesting. People are being waaay too nonchalant considering the stakes, this arc needs more tension.
 
We just saw Vegeta no sell absolute zero and Kale break out of dimensional warping shit just by overpowering it, lol at tricky techniques meaning shit, just power up bruh.

In that episode Krillin took out 2 people with smarts. Krillin wasn't taken out because he was weak, he was taken out because he was dumb and celebrating his win.

I'm worried about 18. She's had too many bad ass moments, but I'm greedy and want more.

Vegeta fans had 70 episodes focused on him. 17 and 18 need it more.
