Dumbest scene in TV History?

I'm a total Newsroom mark and you guys just don't understand how important Maggie was to Don or how important that bin Laden dying was to pilots. I get it because most of you aren't pilots so you wouldn't understand.

isn't that the same show where one of the main characters goes on a rant about how America isn't the greatest country in the world (true I suppose, but it is hard to nail down one best overall country) because it isn't like it used to be or something, ignoring all the decades of social progress since the "good old days" and it gets shared by every wanna be pretentious pseudo-intellectual on facebook?

It all just doesn't work IMO? Like the guy that breaks the news seems like a pretentious douche so him just doing all of that in the moment just seemed off putting.

Then again I've never watched the show so I'm going to sit my ass down...

The Newsroom was such an entertaining hatewatch. So much talent and every once in a while you could see glimmers of hope but then nope!

See you only think it doesn't work though because you're not a pilot. Pilots loved this episode.

I'm joking lol

Can someone explain exactly why the scene comes off so poorly to people? Is it that it comes off as cheesy? Is it something specifically about the script ? I don't quite understand the level of dislike for the scene.

Maybe it's different if you know what he was going to talk about, but when I saw that scene just recently I had no idea. It was like a bad punchline for a terrible joke.

It's something I'd expect from Key & Peele

Did you watch it till the end when he brings up OBL?

I don't know if it was worse than this, but another procedural show (can't remember which one) had an incredibly stupid episode where some Columbine-inspired teen or something had hidden an important piece of evidence on his Xbox hard drive and the team had to beat the game to unlock the document. None of them can do it until they turn to see one of the girls on the team watching intently from the doorway and mimicking controller motions with her hand, so they let her try and she burns through it until she unlocks a door in the game that reveals a literal picture of the document they need.

Bones the 9/11 episode where the victim died in the pentagon attack. They had one of those, "Where were you?" scenes with all the characters and it was maximum cheese.

The show was called Life and poor Damian Lewis was the lead. I saw the scene on a Cracked article, but sadly the video they linked to has been taken down.

Can someone explain this one to me? Never sern Dexter, but I've seen it a lot and want to know the context of why it sucks.

because the show used to be amazing

and why is that kid becoming an adult back to a kid

i gave up with the show way before i got to that season. when the incest started happening I noped out

It's like a dramatic rendition of a right-wing email chain letter from grandma - nauseatingly patriotic in the cheesiest possible way, maudlin, etc. The only thing that could have made it worse would have been for a uniformed Marine to stand up in the background and start clapping. The shittiness of the scene is compounded by the main character being an arrogant blowhard and obvious Gary Stu.

The stupidity of the scene in itself.

1. Why is the kid on a treadmill?
2. Of all the things to give Dexter a reason to be afraid for the well being of his child on a show where he is a literal serial killer...a treadmill accident?
3. The obvious change from a little boy to a full grown stuntman then back to a little boy.

The last season of Dexter could have its own thread. It's amazing how bad that show ended. First 3-4 seasons are great, though.

^^^

you got beaten but i also watched it again and still laughed

edit: what expression is that at the end? XD

The fact that they thought this was an interesting scene to put into a show about a serial killer. And you can clearly see the stunt guy.

This show went to shit after the Trinity killer season.

Worse final episode: Dexter or HIMYM?

I haven't seen the former, but while the ending of the HIMYM finale undermines the entire premise of the show, I enjoyed the exploration of how friendships are inevitably affected by the passage of time (something I was seeing for myself back when it aired, with my social circle gradually withering away due to people moving interstate for work or marrying and starting families of their own), so it wasn't all bad.
