Reading that was such melancholy
I used to love valve, worship at its altar
Those days are forever dead, and gabe disappointed a generation. I wonder if hindsight will reveal that his passion for service and platform was simply greed masquerading as innovation - I certainly hope not
Dyson sphere realization and phasing in and out of time and space - God, it actually might have lived up to its impossible hype
Overall if I had to choose between Valve's innovation (virtual reality, an attempt at a "SteamOS/SteamBox", the controllers, upgrades to the Steam platform like cloud saving, family sharing and improving community features along with a generous two hour refund policy) over the years or their single player games actually continuing to release, I'd choose the innovation.... But when we're talking about a billion dollar gaming company, there's absolutely no reason why it should be one or the other. They've "owned" PC gaming for ten years now. If hiring talented individuals takes time, they've certainly had it.
