Danganronpa V3 demo now available

Didn't see that option in the demo.

Also hate Hajime's new voice, why couldn't they get back his original VA :(
Because they weren't going to get Johnny Yong Bosch for a short demo, probably. He only has a handful of lines. They solely exist to usher in the new protagonist.

Holy hell, Miu is easily one of the best new characters.

I know I'm going to like Miu Iruma already. I'm getting serious Akane and Fuyuhiko vibes. Also the maid seems like a cross between Sonia and Kyoko because of her ice queen demeanor. She's tall and posh just like Sonia.

Does Kaede's emotion wheel that you can pop up with the right stick change any of her responses in the demo?
I think one or two times, it appeared during a discussion, once with Makoto when I talked to him after the victim was discovered. I kept the cursor in the top left corner to be friendly & consent.

Also omg hearing Wendee Lee swearing up a storm is hilarious when I think of her as Haruhi.

Edit: Oh hey, during trials, the right analog stick can slightly change the camera angle.

This is my personal favorite, the Scrum debate music which unfortunately the mechanic wasn't in the demo.

If you do open that I would probably opening it up an incognito tab or something so your youtube suggestions don't get messed up. and look away from sidebar lol.

God this song is amazing. It's making me super hype for the game next month since I know almost nothing about the game and who dies for once...I read Let's Plays for the first two games when it wasn't guaranteed the games would be coming to the U.S.

Ughhhhh it needs to be September now.

Is it me or is the audio mixing awful? Voices regularly drowned out by music.

For me, it was the opposite: the voices were way too loud compared to the music.

Think I'm gonna pass on this game as I thought after playing the demo. Played the other games in the series, but I didn't like the spoilers I read for this one and the new minigames (which have always been my least favorite part of Danganronpa) are even worse than the old ones. Many of the new characters are also seriously grating. :(

When you're going around talking to every character before the murder, you can pop it up during conversation with anyone the first time you talk to them, so it got me wondering if that actually changed anything.

I played the Steam demo and it has a serious frame pacing problem. While it ran at a constant 60 fps, it felt more like 30-40 due the constant stuttering. Not a huge issue in a game like this, but hopefully it's not present in the actual game.

Just got to the trial part in the demo and it's really getting me pumped for the full release next month! Really wish I'd managed to avoid being spoiled completely though...

Mini game & new mechanics impressions. The mindsweeper like game is fine once you understand the order of colors, & the driving game was fine as well, I think I slightly prefer it over the logic dive game from 2.

Having 3 people talk at once is kind of interesting since it just translates to "there's gonna be more text on screen", though I'll have to see how often it appears in the main game. I wish I could switch to "lying" quicker, especially since you might miss & you instantly go back to normal. I knew what statement I wanted to shoot with the lie, but I missed, so then I had to let the animation play out, see that I took damage for....some reason, & then redo it. I also could've sworn I shot at the "V" spot but didn't get the bonus.

As long as I don't have to deal with anything as awful as "Improved" Hangman's Gambit from DR2, I'll gladly take the other mini-games.

I wish there were an option to just skip the mini games. I'm ok with truth bullet talking parts, but everything else needs to be optional imo.

I'm looking forward to hear/read about people's impressions of the twists in the full game, it's gonna be great!
I know I liked them when I played the game in January. The biggest ones really got me good :D

I'll double-dip on Steam like I did with the other games.

Speaking of the shitty minigames, I was listening to the ost of DR2 and saw in the related videos that
Hangman's Gambit
is coming back.

Goddamn it all

Not sure what those earlier were talking about, pretty sure that's still JYB as Hajime. Also, sounds like most of the characters are voiced by an actor that had been in a previous game.

Yeah, it's gonna be interesting for sure. I still really like the game despite the ending, but I'm curious if others will be able to say the same. Gonna be a ride, regardless :P

Yup, forgot their names but Supreme leader has Fuyuhiko's voice, Astronaut has Soda's voice and Tennis guy has Gundham's voice.

Hope we don't get a Persona Q like crossover and then have the same guy voice like 3 characters.

I really liked the game too apart from the optional minigames...I still haven't got the platinum because I don't like them :(
In DR1&2, they were at least quick and fun enough but here I feel they are too tedious. Unless there's a way to trick the system to grind easily but I haven't researched anything on that...maybe I should.

Anything worthwhile you get for having the demo save in the full game? I did the demo on PS4 despite having the Vita version pre-ordered lol.

Do I have to play 1 and 2 to get and enjoy 3? I know the premise and quite a lot from the first one. Played it on VITA.

From what I've gathered as a fan of the series and following these games & the anime series based on the first two, V3 is even less closely connected, continuity-wise, than 1 & 2 were to each other. Playing those isn't a necessity.

Believe it or not, it's the same actor. He's just using a different voice this time. All the mannerisms are the same, and he slips into his old voice every so often. Plus, he voices Rantaro.

Definitely sounds off, though. I'd be curious to know if V3 has the same voice director as all the old games.

Also, sounds like most of the characters are voiced by an actor that had been in a previous game.

Pretty sure literally all of them are.

From playing the Japanese version I don't think it changes anything? As far as I could tell it's just a little bonus thing, I'm not even sure if there are any points where it changes the actual text of the game.

No problems here, borderless fullscreen+Gsync monitor though, so YMMV.

No issues on my end. I had vertical synchronization enabled at the Nvidia Control Panel, ran the game in the borderless mode, and had RTSS running in the background, which can improve frame pacing in some games through some sort of black magic.

DAMN, I started the Vita version of the demo and wow the audio quality is so much worse. I know there's a patch to fix it with the full release but is it just for the voices? The music sounds kind of off to me too...

Normally I'd hate that voices are recycled across games but I've always found the voice acting in Danganronpa so damn good (aside from how high pitched the Nurse in 2 was, damn)

Sonia appears to be the pink bear and just looked up out of interest to see if Kyoko's VA is back and she appears to be Kaede so... safe to say this appears to have a really good pedigree of actors!

I think The Magician girl is Chiaki too, though I thought it was the lady who did Yuta's voice from Ultra Despair Girls originally.

The thing that tipped it off for me for not just Feep being back was just listening to the supreme leader kid sounding more or less I dentical to Fuyuhiko
which is no bad thing!

Popped it in spoilers in case anyone wants to skip and discover this for themselves

Didn't see that option in the demo.

Well on pc when u run the demo the first options on the menu are
Start game
Options
Quit game

So it should've appeared in the main menu for other platforms :X
Otherwise just pause the game and go to options/settings

Played it on Vita and it just...doesn't even look as good as DR2 did? They're clearly trying to do more with the environments than in 2 and it looks like the Vita is just struggling to keep up. I wouldn't say it looks bad but it's noticeable how much lesser it is.

Might actually go for this on PS4 or PC, which I wasn't really expecting.

This was...not great. Everything about it felt too rushed but I attributed it to it being a scenario created solely for the demo. If this really is the beginning of the game I'm kind of worried for V3.

Did you try going into Options? When I try the Vita demo, I'm going to turn the music down & voice up. Hopefully that'll help.

I guess that's because for the other two games they were upscaling assets made for PSP games, but here they compressed higher quality images for a PS4 game. I don't mind it too much
mostly because I already had the Vita CE preordered for months
, it's the audio quality that gets me though. Supposed to be fixed in a patch though so I won't worry about that one too much.

That's exactly what it was though, the original Danganronpa had a demo just like it for PSP, even the victim was the same lol.

I meant it kind of sounds low quality here like the voices, I already adjusted the volume for both.

Yeah now that you mention it I guess none of these games, besides UDG(which looked pretty sharp for Vita), were really designed for the Vita.

It was indeed a stand-alone "case" meant to showcase the style & gameplay of the game without actually spoiling anything from the actual game. They probably made it shorter as to get to certain gameplay elements quicker so it could introduce them faster. I imagine the full game won't have as short of a trial. It certainly wouldn't have as quick of an investigation.

Well sorry for you but i believe the rhythm game is still in. And "improved", now the super duper version.

Wait, Bullet Time/Panic Talk Action? I actually didn't mind those, but I also like rhythm games, so I'm okay with that returning, especially if there's a tune that's as good as the first stage of P.T.A.

My main issue with DR2's Hangman's Gambit was that letters that weren't the same crashing into each other caused damaged, & most of the time, a letter would collide into another letter that you couldn't see since it was still slowly coming in from the edge. Meaning, most of the time I took damage, it was because of a letter I couldn't see.

Thankfully, from what I've heard, they got rid of the damage from colliding letters, so that already is an improvement.

I really don't know what to think about Rebuttal Showdown since it wasn't explained very well & I just kept slashing, which seemed to work.

This demo was the first I've played of anything from Danganronpa, having yet to pick up the PS4 bundle/remaster of the first two games. I enjoyed it.

Wouldn't know what the demo save file bonus for the full game is supposed to be, though.

I just looked up the reward for having the demo save data. You'll get
a skill (no idea what said skill is), a present (which unlocks some special event in Chapter 1), and 333 Monocoins.

So just to be sure, it is confirmed we'll get an audio update for the Vita version on day one right? The audio quality is fucking with my ears...

I'll have to see if I can get an answer from NIS America, but considering how Japan got the patch back in January merely a week after its launch, I'm hopeful that this means it should be day one. I'd say there's a chance it could be pre-installed on the cartridge already, but considering the reason the voice quality was poor was due to storage capacity, I doubt NISA would put the game on a bigger cartridge.

I'm trying to be real careful with what I research since I want to ensure I don't run into a spoiler, but still want to help.

Yeah, that's pretty much why I didn't want to go looking it up myself because I didn't want to spoil anything else for myself. Actually, if you go into the spoiler thread, I was the very first reply checking to see if the thing I got ruined for myself was actually true or not...
