Destiny on PC is a game changer

This thing si too much fucking money but god damn, I want one.

I had one of these back when they were still under the Nostromo name.

I always felt if they had an actual analog on the thumb and decent mechanical keys it'd be neato, but never really convenient enough to leave within arms reach.

I just find it hard to believe anyone but a very small segment of the gaming population overall really have the capability to play this game at the best settings a pc can afford vs the console market.

I don't understand how anyone can not call pc gaming niche compared to the rest of the market? Looking at sales, trends, it's just impossible.

I think you're making a couple of flawed assumptions.

First, you don't need a killer rig to play Destiny 2 on high settings. I tried it on my HTPC (950 GTX with 2gb vram) as well my laptop (1050 GTX) - both of those video cards are low end ones. Dialed down the settings a bit and the game still pumped up at 60+fps / 1080p. You easily put together a $500 rig and have a 10x better experience than a PS4. I did try out the PS4 Destiny 2 beta and the difference is night and day.

Second, PC gaming really isn't a niche anymore. If it were, we wouldn't be seeing games like LoL, PUBG, etc. and their astronomic growth. We wouldn't be seeing Nvidia and AMD going all out to capture more market share. PC gaming is $36b out of the total $91b gaming industry. That is hardly niche. The PC gaming hardware industry is worth $30b. That isn't niche either. You mentioned sales trends - I'd recommend that you actually look at sales trends and then revisit your statement.

I'd also like to state that this isn't a p*ssing match. I own a PS4 and it has its place for exclusives. For multi-plats, I've saved enough money on the cost of games to easily justify my PC's expenses.

i never had a problem with destiny 30 fps... even as a primary PC gamer

playing the beta right now at about 100 fps. and, i mean yeah, it's surely an improved experience but i'm not awestruck or anything. destiny unlike say doom or quake you're usually making a lot of long distance calculations through spanning corridors and such. like any shooter you want the highest fps possible but it still feels like the same game to me

that said i'll never play destiny on console again. regardless if that's what my buds play on

Yeah I mean with a solitary game like Destiny, why even bother with where friends play?

I'm going to regret niche market aren't I.

I have a good online friend of 15 years from lives beta, he went full pc two years ago. I wish you could hear the conversations we have, actually screaming at each other in group chats.

it's honestly just jealousy, you guys got bigger dicks then me :(

I'm torn about what platform to buy it on.... I've got pro's and con's for each.

In terms of consoles I have a PS4 pro, not sure what res that will run at but I know it's locked to 30fps. Locked fov is a big downside here but I'm also a decent distance back from my 4KTV. Friends on PS4 is a big plus, no one other than me has a pc. Plus it's out next week...

On PC I've got a decent rig (gtx 1080) so if I dropped a few settings I could probably run 60fps/4K. Biggest downsides are lack of real friends and a bloody month and a half late. Oh yeah I only play with a controller too so I'll get smoked in pvp....
Your going to get both and your going to like it!

I don't understand, do PC players not ADS?

The way the levels are designed, from what I've played it feels like people are never that far away that you need to take the time to switch to ADS. I've only played like three rounds so far though. It feels like it makes more sense to keep my mobility and awareness at most ranges.

Then again on the map I played there didn't seem to be any areas that were far enough away to need a scope, any distance that far was generally obscured by objects to keep sniping to a bare minimum.

It could just be the map though.

I'm done. I tried to not use ignorance, but I'm too lazy to dig up numbers and such.

It's more of a personal belief that there's no way pc gaming is more popular then console in N America that's all.

If you're too lazy to dig up numbers yourself, you have no right to challenge the numbers that others provide.

Embarrassing.

Thank God all my friends are playing on PC. When Destiny 1 came out I wasn't able to make them buy it, besides two other people. Now we are 7 :)

It's not hard or even that expensive to get into PC gaming. Nothing at all to be jealous of. I think you seem to be of the belief that you need the most high end rig possible that plays everything at 4k 60fps. I mean, you can go for that if you want, but it's not at all necessary. It's an option. And that's what PC gaming is all about. Options.

Big dick PC gaming

Uncapped framerates
FOV slider
4k Support
M/KB support

Just feels like a whole new game compared to the PS4 Beta.

So standard PC game features?

Is this really thread worthy?

I should make one for Forza Horizon 3.

Uncapped Framerates, 4K support, M/KB support, custom soundtracks from my media player of choice, Alt-Tab to Game of Thrones.

Such a game changer!

Bruv PC is the game changer

But I can understand that the impact in D2 must be huge and apparent, moreso than in other games, especially if you logged many hours in D1 on consoles. It was for me.

Another game to try on PC is Dark Souls 3. I'm used to 100+ FPS gaming, but never played the souls games outside of consoles. Going from Bloodborne PS4 to DS3 PC, after having spent sooooo many hours in the souls verse at 30~ FPS was jaw dropping.

Here's my biggest question.

I've been a console gamer my whole life right, how hard would it be for me to get used to fps on pc with a m and kb? Or would I be better off using a controller?

Would those using m//kb have an advantage over me.

I play fps competitively, so it bugs me out to be at a disadvantage.

I could afford the best rig money can buy, but the whole things scares the shit out of me.

I know this is a matter of opinion, but personally M+KB is the most intuitive control scheme possible for a FPS game. You move the mouse, your view moves accordingly. You use WASD like arrow keys to run and strafe.

You will almost always be at a disadvantage using a controller against others using KBM.

Some people prefer console, and that's totally fine. I would never say PC gaming is for everyone. Just strikes me weird that you made such bizarre and bold claims about the PC gaming market which you admit are based on zero knowledge.

Yeah I was meh about the console beta but this is actually great on PC. I even hated to changes to Crucible on console but Its fun on PC

Okay first. Was not a huge fan of destiny 1 (I bought the white ps4 with high expectations of destiny). Played the beta on x1 and ps4. Was going to skip it. None of my friends where to high on it. Read some of this thread and decided to go anway. So far in this beta Bungie really has done a good job. Really hope the rest of the game has continued interaction with the characters and storyline as you go thru 'dungeons'. They actually made me want to progress thru the story.

I have a 1080 ti which kept the Acer 1440p to 144hz . I am not a graphics guy but the difference from pc to console in this one is kind of bigger than usual. The pro and scorpio will probably help. Wish I could have tried the demo on that before this. I am worried about cheating and how many people end up playing on the PC. I must admit I had more fun because of mouse and keyboard. I suck at controller shooters. Went from playing defensively to offensively.

Question...The vsync setting was odd to me. I guess it makes sense in a way but you either shut it off or set it. With gsync your supposed to shut it off but you usually can set the rate separately. So guessing I shut it off and let it go uncapped?00

You're looking at this from an incredibly narrow view point. PC games can be incredibly popular, rivalling or beating any console game in player counts (e.g. League of Legends).

Yeah, the AAA console games often don't do as well on PC as they do on consoles (shock), but the top PC games often rival best console games. PC gaming is far from just about the high end stuff, in fact it's largely NOT about the high end stuff.

Yea setting it off uncaps it and turns off vsync

PC players finally has the chance to experience the best gunplay for FPS.

Thanks Bungie for not allow cross-play... that could kill the game.

Played the PS4 beta and watching D2 PC streams (90% finish with new build)..

it does look like a different game.
It feels like a different game. I played the Strike on PS4 once because I thought it was shitty and I didn't want to have to play through it again. I played like 5 PvP matches and called it quits because it wasn't fun.

I can see myself playing the Destiny 2 beta on PC until it's over. The Strike's fun, and PvP feels great.

Menu navigation is also much quicker with a mouse.
This one's funny, solely because Destiny's menu navigation on consoles has always been with a cursor. Menu navigation was made from the ground up with a mouse in mind.

The lack of input lag and the increased fov alone are huge, before even factoring in the framerate. Menu navigation is also much quicker with a mouse.

i played destiny 1 over 1000 Hours on PS4, just played the destiny 2 beta on pc and i was just blown away, everything feels sooo much better can't go back to console now :(

Destiny at 55 fov (is this the console fov? I haven't played Destiny 2 beta on console) which is the lowest.

hU0waWf.jpg

Same exact position and angle, at 105 fov (the maximum)

Thought I was going to get the PS4 and PC version. Won't be playing the console version. Ever.

Game is gorgeous on high end hardware, absolute game changer.

watched a bunch of people stream. looks great, and like a different game altogether. crisp. so much hip firing, was jarring at first.

glad pc players are happy with the support, pc gaming ain't for me but the games does look a lot better on pc

Division was a problem because they stored lots of stuff client side, was it not? Destiny does all the important stuff server side so hacking will be much less of an issue.

Many many MMO games (including another very popular one on battle.net) function just fine on PC without hacking.

I have played online games on PC for half my life and I don't ever experience this hacking nightmare that I hear about on forums. I'm convinced it's mostly just FUD.
Hacking won't be too bad with destiny no matter what since the meat of the game is in the co-op.

(I like the pvp don't get me wrong)

It's not like the division where the best stuff was only in the pvp dark zone.

Same here. Been playing the beta with a pad and it's been great. Granted, I don't plan on joining any of the PvP modes, but as far as PvE is concerned, the pad isn't a problem at all.

Is pad on PC the same as pad on console - with the same aim assist?

I think it's Overwatch where you can use a pad on PC but it's got none of the console pad tweaks.
