Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Finished my first session. Hit level 7 and did the first mission on the second Destination. I am extremely pleased. Campaign feels like a tight Bungie campaign and the patrol spaces actually feel like there's a lot to see and do. Weapons feel great and having access to the full sandbox has alleviated most of my worries there. Game feels confident and focused in a way D1 never did.

Also chased virginmedia on Twitter about the codes for the sparrow.
 
Music is amazing but very different from the first game. Is any of it from Marty? Or is it entirely a different composer?
 
I think I spent less than an hour in PvP in the first game, and it's almost comical how abysmally bad I am at it in this one. I just need to finish one more match for the mission, and likely never touch it again.
 
Wings of Sacred Dawn exotic armor for Warlocks looks amazing. I had to stop and examine this guys armor to see what it was.

I had to take it just based on looks

Have there been any changes to the character creator? I just selected one of my previous but now im curious if there are new hairstyles and etc
 
Positive first impressions here too! I actually levelled both a Titan and a Warlock to 5 to get a feel for both...stuck with Warlock in the end and did first couple missions on the second location before calling it a night.
 
About to close up my first run. In at level 8, and had a blast playing this morning. Gunplay feelw real tight and smooth, and the quests are enjoyable. I'm so sleepy that it tool about 5 mins to write this legibly lol

Can you keep us updated with the Virgin Media Sparrow stuff?
I've tweeted them as well, as the website they say to use doesnt work.
 
I really hate PvP now, and it was what I loved most about Destiny 1.

Things don't feel madcap anymore. You can't run around looking for fights - you have to stick within a centimetre of your teammates at all times to have a chance. Everything feels slow, heavy, and having sniper rifles in the same slot as goddamn rocket launchers just sucks. Supers charge slow, grenades charge slow. It feels like D1 crucible on promethazine.

Basically, it's clear that (as promised) things have been seriously oriented around the hardcore, Trials of Osiris types.

It's a real shame, and I think it'll have a terrible effect on the playerbase. The people they're catering to may be the most vocal, but I think they represent a severe minority.

RIP fun Destiny PvP.
 
Just got home from a nightshift and I am disappointed - still ot1 and only 55 pages yet, dgaf?

can't wait to start this up later, but unfortunately i'll have to (wait)... mmmm, maybe a sneak peak.

Why did YOU have to post? I like your posts and I consider you among the smartest guys in the threads I lurk in.

I'll take into heart what you just said. I need to think about this game in a sort of new light.
 
I have a couple simple questions.
Is grenade and super ability cool down improved from beta?

Also how is the new weapon system working out for people?
 
4 hours in and it's already much better than the vanilla Destiny I played.

There's an actual story, and it's something that it's much more engaging. The fact that you start from zero means that the progression of armor/ship/guns aesthetics is much more meaningful.

It feels like what Destiny 1 should have been in the first place.
 
I'm really not fond of shaders being consumables.

That's said, I'm really enjoying the game otherwise. Played all day and hit level 18.

I think it was their idea to slow it down a bit so the "hardcore, ToO types" aren't chaining supers all match and farming the other team. They made assists count the same as kills. If anything, I think they tried to make it friendlier to the newer players. Stickies aren't one shot, shoulder charge isn't one shot - now the game is intended to be 100% more teamwork and significantly less "lone wolf."

I seriously hope they introduce proper multiplayer later on. That 4v4 bs can go to hell

almost. You 'consume' the item when you use it. So you get a shader; you 'use' it, the new shader gets applied and the previous shader is gone.
 
I played it for a bit. I played until I got the light back so 2nd or so mission in and see other players running about at that farm.

Im guessing at this point I can play rest of campaign COOP?

No, you have to play the next mission.
The game then explicitly tells you that you can group up.

e: seeing as you already have the light, anyway you get a big ass message.
 
Got a question about a sort of map icon and what it is you have to do.

so I got these things that hang from a ceiling that I can scan, ghost says they are from venus when you inspect them. What do you do with those?

I can't even get my head around that being some kind of IAP tactic, or... Well, I guess it can only be that, but... My God. So blatant.
 
I've noticed the PVP modes remind me of Halo Multiplayer in the glory days. How accurate would I be with that? I've never played Destiny before but got a code from my graphics card for the PC version.

Fair, but I don't think the casual player base even likes that kind of team-based coordination mode period. And aren't the hardcore, ToO types always in their stupid little circle-jerk teams anyways? Maybe it blunts streamer carries a bit, but for the most part I think small-team-focused play puts casual players at a disadvantage even if they want to play that way.

And I don't think most of them do?

It was fun to have big matches with lots of players where you just go towards the action on your radar and let it be whatever it's gonna be. Now you spawn and the first thing you do is have to make sure you group back up on the other three people immediately.

It may be more competitive, but it's not nearly as thrilling. Feels so much more deliberate.
