Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

I'm saying, I played a Titan in D1 and I want to try a different class for D2. But I just played through the beta mission, still as my D1 Titan, and I'm not sure if I missed the point in the game where I could pick a different class.

It was after the opening title screen. All of your characters came over and you could pick them or start a new one.

PLayed 4.5 hours so far. Loving the game. Fooled around in the crucible for a bit was fun. The competitive matches seem to take a long time. They were fun though.

When you went on to repeat the same things that that post refuted I didn't really see the point in changing it up. You seem to not be able to get over a number difference despite it meaning nothing as an indicator of PvP ability.

You then went on to make some bizarre suggestion that it would be a deterrent despite the system having been the same in Destiny, which saw immense popularity.

As said before, it being near launch makes no difference. The same will occur 6 months from now. You just have to get over your mental hurdle of, for whatever reason, thinking numbers matter. They don't in normal crucible, never have and it never made a dent. That's why they won't change it, and there being no need for them to.

It's really not hard to just ignore level, appreciating that it has no bearing in individual skill in the Crucible.

Well to be honest if you're starting new in crucible and you're matched with higher levels with more perks, guns, etc. unlocked you will be at a disadvantage. It makes things a bit tougher but you can either A. Just deal with it and play since your skill will help equalize things a bit, or B. Play pve until you're high enough level with a maxed out class to make PvP more balanced. It's really not that big a deal to be honest. I agree the complaining is unneeded. Matchmaking works just fine and doesn't need adjusting for low level players. I just subscribe to the age old wisedom of 'git gud'.

Honestly though, especially with the new cooldowns, if someone who has played a ton of other PvP FPS games but is new to Destiny, comes up against someone who has played 20hrs of PvE, I wouldn't expect that great a difference. Game sense matters a lot in PvP imo and that's what will net you more kills in the new 4v4 crucible.

So how hard are Nightfalls compared to D1? The time limit and the locked loadout probably makes it pretty tough now.

Sucks that they don't have matchmaking, looks like most people who I played D1 are sitting this out.

The first mission after
regaining consciousness
in the prologue blew me away. I wasn't expecting the emotional resonance of the music.

Totally agree, I've only played a bit before work this morning but the music (especially in that section) really stood out to me. I can't wait to play some more after work 😀

I should... maybe... be able to hit level 20 today and finish up story missions. This is the first time I haven't rushed through new content in 3 years of Destiny and it feels great to go ar a slower pace.

Have been doing everything solo as well, to get that full campaign experience. Really enjoying what Ive seem so far. Story, patrol area, lost sectors, its all so damn good.

So what would happen if there were no other players available when playing these types of segments? Would it swap in AI?

In that part its just you and zavala (the npc) if it doesnt find any players. It seems to matchmake the entire section though since in the beta I had people join me as I was finishing. The section is on a loop, once youre there long enough, it tells you to move on, but you could stay there helping randoms youre matchmade with forever.

First mission's structure is interesting, at least before you leave the tower. It's set up like a disneyland ride where you're on a track moving from looping set piece to set piece watching a story unfold. A really good way to set the scene and to have an intense opening without overwhelming the player.

Agreed and that's why it really doesn't matter. The game is so new right now that the guy complaining about it just seems silly. When I switched from Xbox to ps4 and had to start over after ttk playing crucible sucked for a bit because I was low ranked and had no perks unlocked or decent weapon rolls. I still held my own though and it got better once I maxed out my subclasses and got some decent weapon rolls. Really it's much Ado about nothing.

Not finished yet but I've been to them all. Just like D1
you're globetrotting all over so it's pretty much 1/4 of the time.

So you guys liking the music more or less than D1? I think I prefer D1s tracks for the most part, there are some really good ones that have stuck out though.

Something about D1's music was just unique. D2 sounds great but a bit more generic at times.

Has anyone even tried yet?

Anyone doing HC power level grind won't touch NFall before closer to 260 so they minmax gear power levels from it. That is way later today or some time tomorrow as gaining PL isn't breeze by looks of it.

Lol huh? Game is out today (yesterday for some) and you're going to be at max level and that's not "rushing it"!? I mean i thought i "rushed" Destiny where it would take me 3-4 days to max out each time.

I'd hate to see what real rush grinding looked like for you... does it involve copious amounts of amphetamines and catheters? ;P

So guys, whats everyone's opinions on the game right now? I was a big fan of D1 for all its flaws. I know im going to get it on the PC, but the hype is making me want it on the PS4 as well. I'm playing right into Activisions dirty hands though if I buy it on both.

It's definitely better than D1 for sure in terms of the story. Though to be honest at least for me the more you go on the less impressive the destinations get.

The shooting is absolutely amazing so far.

Bungie have outdone themselves. I read somewhere that someone suggested this was Destiny without the bullshit and I agree 100%. The lore intergration and campaign are above and beyond what I expected. I have mostly been on a media blackout and was shocked to see a Lore button in the menu. The soundtrack is beautiful as well. I'm not far in but already there have been many memorable moments I can attribute to the gorgeous music.

The campaign and getting to level 20 is quick and easy. I just meant that i am not running through the story missions quickly just to get to the end. Im exploring, doing patrols, pub events...Etc

By rushing I mean not trying to max power level to 250+ like some already have.

Is weapon/armor leveling gone? All nodes unlocked by default now?

Yeah, I wasn't really expecting that. I figured it was all set like that in the beta for demo purposes, but everything I've found had all the (few) perks available from the get go.

Same for the single exotic weapon I've found. It says I can infuse it with higher level weapons, but I'm honestly not sure how to do that at the moment.

Ok so I can play this on any platform but likely to have more friends to play with on PS4. Does this mean I should get PS4 version? Does that mean I need to sign up for PS+?

Im pretty happy about it honestly. Leveling weapons and armor was a huge pain in Destiny 1

Totally. Congrats, you just got this awesome weapon or gear... but don't get too excited as it isn't any good yet. Guns were easy enough to level with motes, but armour was a royal pain.
