Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

I don't understand the whole "Killing same old enemies" complaint I keep seeing.

What did people expect? All of the existing lore to go out the window? The 4/5 current races just to go away?

This complaint sounds like complaining about Orcs or Star Troopers in LOTR and Star Wars games.

Not really. For a game about exploration and adventures in space when you get a sequel with a bigass 2 on it, you don't expect to have your barrel pointed at almost the exact same enemies with little new.

Ugh. A couple hours in and I'm already getting the same "connecting to Destiny servers..." messages that I got in Destiny 1. It always results in me getting booted from the game. I was really, really hoping they would have fixed that for this game but nope. Looks like I'll be dealing with that throughout the lifetime of this game.

This game is like what Assassin's Creed 2 was compared to AC1. Improved in every way, especially the story and the open world activities.

I'm sort of glad that the PC release is next month. Really interested in getting this game. It's been a long time since I purchased a game on release date, Witcher 3 it was, even then I was confident it would be good but was still reticent. Now I've got my usual month buffer to let things shake out if it's actually great or not!

Might be an issue with your internet. If you get that consistently.

They expected new species. For some reason existing lore lets them create those small dogs for Cabal, but nothing new for other races?
  • Taken came into our Solar System along with Oryx who arrived from God know where.
  • Red Legion arrived into our Solar System from heart of Cabal Empire and brought its own forces with it. Doggos happened to be part of their arsenal and doctrine.
  • We haven't gotten new Fallen Houses (except ones formed from old splintered ones within System) or Hive fleets into our System.
Who know what future holds tho.

Hey all,

While I wait for PC I'm trying to figure out what Class / Build to go with.

I know Titans are the usual tank class but I've been hearing Warlocks have better lifesteal / sustain.

Thoughts? I really like playing classes that get to hang around in fights at mid to close range, and I love being able to shrug off damage or just heal through it.

It could very well be your router or ISP. I ended up buying an entirely new wireless solution for my setup only to eventually go fully wired. My buddies in the midwest, however, can't escape their garbage ISP and still have frequent issues.

Man I am tempted to double dip ps4 pro and pc on this... Fuck. My character will transfer on ps4, does that really matter?

Just watched the end on YouTube.
Just as bad and anticlimactic as I expected. Curious cliffhanger though.

Playing it and watching it are two separated things btw, but yeah, I guess that even by just watching, you can understand how dumb the final encounter was, but you have to agree the final scenery was pretty good visually.

Well, Bungie have a good record when adding ennemies with latest game in Halo, but for Destiny, they already stripped every type they had in Halo and making them species specific for Destiny, so I guess people aren't complaining about not having new ennemies as much as they are complaining about them not having improved/different behaviors compared to Destiny 1.

If you stopped playing Destiny 1 before The Taken King, sure. Otherwise it is not even close to a comparison at all.

Wow just beat the game. Damn that was ggreat! I have so many questions now, but man they really did give it a real story that made want to fight for the city and the light!

I wanted then to add more enemies to the game. Not just the little cabal dogs. Don't get rid of enemies from the first game, just add more.

I only completed up to mission 2 yesterday, but there are the flamethrower Cabal, the new albeit similar to old Fallen cloaking units with the spears, and the dogs. So there are new things within the lore of the existing races.

I got booted out earlier too while doing the "Poor Reception" adventure funnily enough.

Seriously doubt it was my internet which is wired and 220d/20u. Never had any issues playing online but yet it happens now on day 1 of a hugely popular online game. Yeah i'm going Bungie servers not my internet.

Quick question. Is the PS4 stuff worth it to get over the Xbox version? I prefer Xbox but was wondering if the extra PS4 stuff is cant miss content.

For those who have played the PS4 version

That's kind of how Bungie does it, though. Halo 2 brought one new enemy type: Brutes. Elites, Hunters, Grunts, Jackals and the Flood forms all returned, just re-tooled and expanded.

Halo 3 had no new enemy species or factions, just updated classes within the same factions and races. (Along with new AI behaviors.)

Bungie tends to establish a universe and then flesh it out as they go. This time they seem to be going all in on the Cabal, with the Vex next on deck.

Sorry if it's been asked and answered already but any UK, Virgin users know what's going on with this? I used the site to try to get my code and got a message saying my account was not recognised - which is bollocks.

Called them up and they asked if I'd already redeemed it (which is a weird response / question given that my account wasn't being reecognised), which I obviously have not; then they apparently ran out of possible reasons why there was a problem and simply said they'd look into it and get back to me in a few days. Yeah right. Useless.

Anyone else encountered this? Anyone actually managed to get their code and redeem / receive the sparrow?

Not really. The only thing really that interests me is the strike but Xbox and PC will get it eventually (a year from now).

Not worth it imo. Just get whatever version you want.

How do you infuse weapons?

1. Max level
2. Choose weapon you want to infuse to and choose weapon of same type with higher power value. [e.g. 220 Pulse Rifle infused with 240 Pulse Rifle]
3. Have required currencies and/or mats at hand

Infusion is done in screen where you inspect weapon for its perks etc.

I absolutely hate how much recoil auto rifles have, scout rifles are powerful but boring as ever, and grenade launches are absolutely terrible. So far, advancing my Titan has been a very sleepy affair. Instead of an electric jump that damages enemies, now I have a shield that I can run around and hit people with (and every class seemingly has a melee super ability)-- oh yay.

Let's get a few things absolutely clear -- none of us have any idea how good or bad the endgame is, which for most people, if they're honest with themselves, will be what really determines the appeal of this game.

And yes, my mind can definitely be changed by what happens when you reach max level, but for now it's a very safe but pretty sequel that hasn't really blown my socks off.

Well, even in D1 the bulk of legendary gear was used to get you somewhere and ultimately to infuse outside of very specific uses. D2 will be the same, you need to find an arch type auto that is intrinsically geared to end game. Then you have to mod it for stability.

What's different this time around is mods and shaders. Seems there's going to be some customization and personalization. I think that tends to open the end game grind up a little more, as it gives you more buy into the weapon you're crafting. You're no longer trying to get the perfect rolls, but to accumulate mats to craft different weapons.

You need to add your area reference in front of you account number to get it to be recognised. You'll likely then run into the next problem that everyone else seems to be having that it says the promo has already been claimed.

How on gods green earth that even possible. The game went live less than 12 hours. Tha fuq??!

I think some streamers had been able to play it for around 10 hours before public went live. Guys I were watching on Twitch were already level 20 and it was 45 minutes after servers went live to public.

Don't forget the Drones. Halo 2 added Drones and Brutes. Halo 2 also added new Forerunner units (the Big one, can't remember the name).

Halo 3 added new flood forms as well which weren't similar to anything from previous Halo games. And much of their behaviors were retooled, which isn't really a thing in D2, you can almost see the AI react the same between D1 and D2, so it doesn't give a fresh impression.

I can't seem to find a single match in the crucible on the XBOX One to do my required 2 matches. If I can't play crucible in this game I'm going to be upset.

It was doing this last night too...
It's a glitch or bug of matchmaking.

It took a while, but eventually it will slot you into a game.
This was not a problem during the beta, so I assume it will be fixed.

When on earth do I get a sparrow? I don't want to keep running/jumping across the EDZ.
It's a testament to the gameplay that I don't care for a Sparrow. The environments are so beautiful and varied that I really enjoy just wandering around shootin' stuff on the way to wherever I'm headed.

It's not about exploring though... it's pretty grounded in our solar system with very specific alien races who have moved in.

Just in the Beta, in the 2 missions that provided, I found a surprising amount of new enemy types to shoot at...

The servers went live at midnight for New Zealand yesterday, so if you had managed to get a physical copy early you could be playing at least 24 hours ago and not just 12. I think a few people in this thread were playing it early as well.
