Powerpuff Girls add a fourth sister...

I thought this new reboot was cancelled. I wonder if this new sister is permanent or set to disappear by the end of the episode

A few observations:

1. I'd respect an attempt to bring more melanin to a pretty white TV show, assuming that .ru leak is real.
2. I can't help but think this isn't a fourth sister from the Professor's lab, as subsequent attempts to recreate the formula for the original trio have all failed with varying degress of catastrophe, making this random success kind of cheapen the impact of the rowdyruff boys and a dead Bunny. So...friend? Poser? Enemy in disguise?
3. Assuming this addition to the cast is permanent, it reeks of Poochie the Dog. What would a fourth PPG even bring to the show? What makes her different apart from her height?
4. I've been down on this reboot since the previews failed to capture any part of what made the original series great, so this move doesn't fill me with additional hope.

She can be their "Mandy" ala Totally Spies

I was just thinking of this show today, and for some reason assumed it had been cancelled. Now I'm disappointed it wasn't.

This PPG reboot ended up being the monkey pawiest thing possible.

Man, what an awful design if true. They should have gone with Bunnie, but changing the skin color if they want diversity. Not really related to this reveal, but I was really optimistic about this show at the beginning, but I have to give up... people concerned were right. It was one of my favorite tv shows but I can't stand the humor and jokes. I was expecting to see the Rowdyruff Boys but now I don't think it's s good idea.

I don't know why people seem to have an issue here. The new show is experimenting with different designs. Also there was that Powerpuff Girl style designer that included different hair and body shapes, so we know they were going to experiment with the art models.

The only thing I can think of people complaining, would be a racist and body shaming reason. It seems most of you can't recognize positive change for the sake of inclusivity.

Ruining your childhood? Kids everywhere should be able to see themselves represented, the series exists in the past already, don't be selfishly proclaiming "Make Powerpuff Girls Great again".

She would already stand out enough with the different skin color given the three original were white as a sheet (or were they supposed to be asian in some capacity? w/e), everything else comes off as unnecessary.

The ppg themselves aren't theoretically supposed to look that out of the ordinary. The cyan hair is just bizarre (hell I think they could have gotten away with a much darker blue shade if they really wanted to take this route).

The skin color is fine honestly but the hair feels like the other attempts to be hills with the kids if it's true

I don't care about her skin color, but why does a kindergartner have hips jutting out like that? The hips and hair look ridiculous. It's not a racist thing at all.

I didn't say I had a problem with the skin color, just that she stands out simply by the makeup of the rest of the cast.

It's simply an unavoidable part if you want to break a template on an old show no matter what your intententions are.

Although this depends on her context I suppose. If she's just a friend or sort of a "sixth ranger" it becomes far less obvious. I was operating under the assumption the dynamic of the 3 became 4, but 3 + 1 would be a more natural flow, and most of her differences from the other 3 become unimportant. Of course, they're not human so there's not really any genetic differences to reconcile, so I think I'm just conflating simply adding her along with her skin color, seperate from parts of her design I do not like (like the hair and increased size).

They've stopped airing it on CN entirely and has been exiled to Boomerang to rot with Sonic Boom, Grizzly and the Lemmings and My Knight and Me, so yeah, it's as good as dead now and they're just burning off what's left.

I'm pretty sure I read that the design in the OP is fake.

Anyway, they already had a fourth sister, and she ended up sacrificing herself.

Because it looks odd. The new show is already ugly, but the girls being uniform shapes was at least appealing to look at. Why does a child need those hips? This show is crap and diversity isn't going to help it, if that also most likely turns out to be crap as well.D o kids even watch this show?

What the fuck? Why another girl? It should have been a boy.

Not sure if serious.

Things people have complained about in this thread:

-Hair color (hell, not even the color, just the tone of blue)
-Her lack of uniformity with the rest of the girls (as far as we know, there could be a reason why she's bigger and more womanly)
-The fact that the show's tracks record does not inspire hope in them handling this kind of plot point well

Things nobody has complained about:
-Her skin color
-Her being "fat"

Though all that purple is reminding me of some black video game character checklist I saw once where "grape-y" was one of the fields.

flash animation

As much as I hate flash based cartoons, blaming all artstyle/animation problems on it is like saying "Unreal Engine only makes brown games.".

The first Flash based cartoons were pioneered by John K of Ren and Stimpy fame, and none of his cartoon suffered from it. In fact, I actually thought it improved his art in some ways.
