Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

I just discovered a massive loot sector in an
underground cave system in the Outskirts
. Man, the exploration feels so much more rewarding now. I'm blown away.

In my Milestones I have "Patrols". Normally, in D1, I would look for icons in scattered beacons in an area. Where are these in the EDZ?

My Milestone, "Patrols Access", e.,g "Help Cayde 6 establish a network in the EDZ"

There's a blue banner with a crown in it in EDZ, so that's the one you should look for

Dude. That name, the unique ability. My first WANT.
Dude....

Thanks so much for this write up, especially the bit about shields. Coming from D1 and knowing everything about every mechanic and then having D2 have all these changes, this is the type of info that interests me the most.
Np! I will keep adding to/fixing it

I am finding the changes to the moment-to-moment gameplay systems much more fun than I thought they would be from the beta.

Finish some of the quests and other things will open up.

Is it confirmed that infusion is still 1:1? Couple things I want to infuse but I don't want to do it until I'm 240-250 LL as those Legendary Shards will be somewhat hard to come by here early on.

1st night, 6.8gb patch put paid to any game time.

Tonight, school concert for the kids.

Tomorrow night, here I come Destiny.

This bloody wait is killing me.

Finished the campaign, thought it was excellent but would have appreciated a hard mode, our fireteam steam rolled it all.

We'll see how the end game shapes up. How do you unlock the Nightfall? Or is that not up yet?

It is stunningly easy yes

Anyone else having issues with low-level quickplay? Just completed the second mission and decided to try crucible. Sitting here now for over 4 minutes and I'm 3/8 searching. No connection issues with my setup.

There's a multi part quest you have to do to set up the patrol beacon network' it should be visible on the map over by the fire base on the west side of EDZ.

WOW this fucking game just kicked me back to orbit for inactivity IN A SINGLE PLAYER MISSION. I was right near the end but left to eat dinner. What stupid shit is this?

It it easy Solo as well? or just with Fireteams?
There are moments of challenge solo but it is tuned for just about any skill level to be able to get through eventually.

It is not modified if you have additional fireteam members so you can tear though it.

According to the strategy guide, there is a method of replaying story missions at a higher difficulty tuned for fireteams. I don't know any more than the fact that it exists.

How much stuff opens up after you complete the main story? One of the best things in TTK was completing the story and then have so much new stuff to do, hoping it's similar to that in Destiny 2?

Such as shame the character creation options are still shit.

And the faces, especially for female characters... are like different and way worse? Seems like the only option is 40 year old lady of varying ethnicity with no actual options. I can't seem to create my character from 1.

So, engrams are only legendary and exotic now? Didn't we have to open blue engrams in D1 too? In this they you give you the gear straight away...

Yea. There's a bit of a difficulty spike on Nessus but other than that it's pretty easy.

You know where it was for me. Titan. Funny enough the jumping because for awhile I had a different kind of jump skill being used and sometimes I would miss a spot and die. I would say it was about 6 to 1. Dying from jumping, missing something versus enemies.

Hunter's don't seem to have any cool gear this time around? I'm seeing plenty of cool looking Titan's and amazing looking Warlocks, but all the Hunters are in plain looking faux-leather gear. I can't even find any nice capes, I've had the same model of cape from level 1 to 20.

do the Adventure missions ever reset or scale up? or are they a one shot deal like the campaign missions?

The story missions will likely get a Hard/Heroic mode (and maybe a playlist with modifiers way down the road after numerous expansions have been released) just as they did in the original Destiny.

Is Crucile down or something?

Trying to play my first match in quick play, stuck at "Evaluating Guardians... 1/8" with no progress.

This is insane how much better this campaign is than anything from D1. Just incredible polish and atmosphere everywhere, and events are varied enough that nothing gets boring. This is some seriously good shit!

Some random tips:
  • Without having tried any exotics yet, I am still enjoying the loadout system more than I thought I would. When in all-out firefights, It's cool to be able to empty a mag, switch to your other and have a full primary mag's worth of bullets without reloading, especially if one or both guns has a quickdraw or bonus on draw type perk. Paired with stuff like the Marksman's Dodge or Rally Barricade and some of the gun/armor perks and you can do a whole lot of shooting without ever manually reloading which just feels awesome.

Also good to learn when to use them situationally.
    • Kinetic weapons do higher crit damage.

In PvE, best for big groups of trash enemies that can survive anything more than a single headshot, unshielded bosses, and unshielded majors.
    • Energy weapons do more damage to anything with any kind of shield.
In PvE, all shielded enemies take more damage from any energy weapon, not just a matching one. If you break the shield with the matching element, you get a huge aoe explosion, extra damage and stun on the target.
In PvP, all enemies using super take more damage from energy weapon, doesn't have to be the matching element. I.e., switch to your energy weapon when you see the message for an enemy's super activation.
  • The elemental shield break is legit. It is worth doing even to targets that are alone. The damage is huge and the stun often sets you up to crit for an easy kill. Remember it's the correct element, and not necessarily just an energy weapon that can produce the shield break. For instance, you can break an Arc shield with the Arcstrider melee attack, causing the stun, and follow up for a Shotgun blast for the kill. Very satisfying.

For endgame loadouts, bear in mind that between your subclass, energy, and power weapon you can cover all three elements if you choose to.
  • For hunting down the lore interactive nodes, you get a little animation of your ghost in the upper right when you are near one. If you pull out your ghost into Nav Mode (just tap touchpad), and you are close enough, he will physically rotate to look at the node as you move around. You can use this to track them down. Bear in mind if your ghost is looking straight up or down, you may have to navigate the environment and change elevation rather than heading in that direction.
  • Your subclasses
are unlocked by finding artificats upon reaching Level 10 and Level 15. You will find this in the first chest you open after leveling up. You will then have to do a few public events to charge the artifact, which will then open up a unique quest to recover the subclass. Earned subclasses already have they grenades and jumps unlocked
    .
  • If you get on top of the water wheel in the Farm, you get a Commander buff making you glowy, faster and more agile. Seriously lol

This should have been in previews, NOT "We fixed the stuff in the first game!"

May head out to buy it.
