Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Well I wasn't going to come back, but I had so many points on my playstation visa card, I decided to buy the game. Just started last night, long way to go in the story I take it.

Lies, you used to stream with PS4Share on Twitch.

Stream yes, but not capture and make those fancy walkthrough videos you see

Stream I'm meant like show live then have my commentary on top showing it, but would need capture device for others to watch, so yeah...

You can allow PS4Share to capture your voice in the share settings. Just do your route while talking and then trim it in ShareFactory and upload to YouTube. EZ

So hype has gotten to me and I felt compelled to finally revisit Destiny 1(and its expansions which I picked up on some deep sale so long ago). Was dejected by the game at launch, but haven't returned in 3 years. Full of renewed optimism and inspiration from a massive population of friendly GAF posters and comments, I reinstalled the game onto my PS4 and the DLC I never tried.

Started a new character with the intent to pay as close attention as possible to the breadcrumbs and audio clues for unlocking the mystery of this lore and had the app ready on my phone for grimoire clues. I was ready and actually excited! Maybe I will love Destiny afterall?

Checking out the social space more broadly than before(all these new vendors that I don't recall) I discovered my first secret dead ghost with a grimoire card! I immediately loaded up the app to witness what this could possibly be and I felt like Bungie just delivered me a giant gut punch.

So I was unaware that Bungie recently decided to remove the entire grimoire database from their website and app recently during the shift to Destiny 2. They just don't exist any longer and neither resource provides an explanation or some form of backup anywhere. The codex is seemingly dead and my interest just deflated entirely.

What is going on? Did I miss a story on this? Everytime my grimoire score increases in D1 now, its a reminder that I should just stop playing. I am actually really curious now to follow along and I no longer am able.

I know this is D1 related, but most Destiny fans are in this thread now and am looking for help. Is there a 3rd party app that can still look at my unlock cards and give me the info?

New page, new sinks for visibility from bottom of last page.

So anyone looking for Glimmer sinks I have two words for you.

Gear mods.

Goth just did a Nightfall and they didn't finish in time, he mentioned it was for some challenge for an exotic quest, anyone know about that?

Anyone here playing multiple classes/characters know if you get to choose 1 of the exotics per character? Like the
Mask/shoulders for Titans and the Chestpiece/Helmet for Warlocks?

Wow...

Welp... i'm surprised the shader freakout has happened before any mod freakout... especially after all the "no more random stats/perks on drops!" reaction. They just replaced that with something new. Something you can alter, which is a plus, but it's all going to come down to how you get the rarest mods, and if they will never add them to the bright engrams. And you can still get a different drop of the same gun with a better mod than a previous copy of the same gun... so things have not completely changed. A step in a better direction, sure.

If Bright Engrams remain blue mods and cosmetics only, they really held back and could have made this MUCH worst... and I personally have a hard time believing they won't go that route eventually...

On day 1, when everyone was freaking out over mods in the Bright Engrams, I never imagined they were one-time-use just like the shaders...
Meh. I feel like the impact of this is tough to sort of get across and I guess from your tone it must seem a lot worse on paper. It really is not particularly punitive in practice IMO. Lots of options, I am not paying any money. And I haven't even beaten the campaign. Getting a gun you like with a better mod than the one you currently have equipped is not a nightmare reintroduction of the original game because you don't have to worry about anything else being wrong with the gun, and meanwhile you're not counting on such a drop because you can install a desired mod yourself.

You can also buy rare mods from the gunsmith and get them from ranking him up, which is the only actual method I have confirmed to get Legendary mods so far

If they were to put legendary engrams in the Bright Engram I suppose I think it would be crossing a big line in terms of gameplay impact. Since those are best-in-slot and otherwise rare to come across.

But, I actually don't share this slippery slope mindset about what Bungie has done with the Eververse. Again, I hate the entire premise, have told people over and over again not to buy Silver, but yeah, nothing they have actually added to the shop has tangibly impacted my play experience at all, let alone given an advantage to those who spend money (with the very debatable exception of the subclass boosts).

What do the tokens do? I'm getting many kinds of tokens.
Various vendors in each zone give you Engrams with rewards unique to that zone from ranking them up, which you do with tokens.

You can preview the engram to see what's inside once you've locked on.

If you're looking to be as efficient as possible, wait until you're 20 and power 260ish to give these tokens in.

If you want as much Legendary gear to play around with as possible (regardless of your Power level), turn them in ASAP and collect when you hit 20.

Is the ps4 version okay now? If that's the case, would anyone be interested in joining me?

Just got to the open portion of Titan. Could really use some company gong forward

Do we know if these patrol vendors can give gear above 260 or 265 Power from turning in tokens? Or do they max at 260-265?

Right, I believe 260 is the soft cap where you need Endgame-tier activities to progress. Haven't gotten there myself but that's what it seems like. Though, not 100% sure what the highest possible light a legendary engram or reward engram can decrypt at is.

Just got my copy. That intro was damn awesome. I look forward to seeing what bungie learned from their mistakes in D1.

Since Mods are consumables like the shaders, do they stack in your inventory like the shaders do? From the screenshot of the Mods screen I have seen, they do not...

Yeah it's gone. Now you either get them in bright engrams or microtransactions it seems. No idea how bright engrams work though yet
You receive a Bright Engram for every "level up" past 20.

The amount of XP required for this does not increase with successive levels.

Upon each weekly reset, you receive a free buff called "Well Rested" which makes your first three levels/Bright Engrams come much faster.

They do.

They do.

Though, there's individual armor piece mods (IE one for helmet, chest, legs, etc).

This has probably been asked a thousand times, but can you edit your imported character's look?

I would also like to know this, and..

Anyone here playing multiple classes/characters know if you get to choose 1 of the exotics per character super early in the campaign? Like the
Mask/shoulders for Titans and the Chestpiece/Helmet for Warlocks?

Wish I picked it, but I took the graviton lance instead.

That's ok, saving the best for PC anyway :D:D:D:D

Saaaaame.

In my head I was thinking "well i used the sureshot in the beta a bunch let me try this new thing..."

I won't be making the rookie mistake come PC time

You can and should do first 2 steps of quest, those are easy.

Is this the "World-Eater" thing?

Considering what I had drop yesterday it just dawned on me, Bones of Eao may yet live on!

Finally got to see the last strike I had not played on Xbox, overall I think they are all pretty fun with the theme being large open play-spaces throughout all five of them. Only complaint is I wish there were 2-3 more at launch.
