Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Need to get to level 11 to progress in the story, half way through 9 atm! Best way? I am assuming adventures? Probably going to start mopping up the ones I havent completed yet (only done the first 2 on EDZ).

... It took hours of grinding to hit level 2?

You've basically just done the tutorial.

There's no matchmaking for story stuff, you do it all organically. If you have friends then you form a party, and you can play with people in the same zone as you, so long as you aren't instanced into a story section (meaning only people in your party will be there).

You get crucible when you get to the farm, which is matchmade pvp. At level 15 you get matchmade strikes which are instanced dungeons. You can do multiplayer as soon as you're finished with the shard of the traveller though.
I'm at the farm now and curicble still doesn't work. Pretty stupid. It'd be dope if the game actually told me what the fuck to actually do to play the game.

Guess that's asking a lot.

Every time I try to make a party the matchmaking is red, and says I need to grind more. Lol. Wish they'd just let me play the game I bought.

I've been playing for a few hours.. how many more missions do I have to do until the actual game is unlocked?

I was playing in a fireteam with my mates within, hmm I honestly don't know the exact time but it must have been within half an hour?

What was the last story mission you did? Are you just on the "evaluating guardians" step and it's not advancing?

It takes like 1 to 2 hours to unlock PvP. All you have to do is play part of the story. I wouldn't call that a grind or a long period of time.

The one where I went to earth.. to be honest I have no idea what I'm supposed to do though. It's not in the slightest bit clear. Guess they expect you to do tons of research before playing.

Still, it's insane to me that I can't just play the game I bought. Don't give a shit about the story at all, just bought the game to play online.

Yea I lol'd.

Anyone not digging the nightstalker like me yet? I've been using the 3 shot node, but everything from the grenades to the super itself just feel really weak.

I've been using the uhhh... spam one. Can get like 6 shorts off. Combos up nicely imo

Not when I found the opening hours to be my favorite moment of all destiny so far. Those skyboxes, that music and feeling.......so good

I don't really know what to suggest, playing through a story isn't what I would call grind though.

It doesn't introduce everything all at once when you boot that game as for a newcomer that would be a bit too much, it just introduces things as you go. PVE multiplayer is available once you get to the Farm and then PVP appears pretty soon after, am not exactly sure of the timescale, but I just walked up to Shax (a guy in the farm) and it was available.

That's fine, and I agree it's pretty fantastic, but I bought a multiplayer game. Not Mass Effect 4.
It takes like 1 hour to open up the multiplayer. Jesus. It's also fairly self explanatory how to play everything. Open up the director, crucible should be in the top left. If it's not you need to go talk to Lord Shaxx

Is it better than it was in the beta? Didn't really gel well with me then.

Oh my God! Warlock gear looks infinitely better than Titan gear. Wish I'd leveled my Warlock first.

I didn't play it in the Beta but it melts enemies so fast. Also I love making them explode. It's awesome.

Dude it should take an hour tops to get to where you can do whatever you'd like.

Yeah it isn't traditional because Destiny fuses PVEPVP together.

The PVP and PVE elements are tied together heavily in this game. I don't think I've heard of anyone who plays Destiny solely through PVP. There are abilities you need to unlock by going through the main game, weapons you need to acquire to be competitive against others players, and armor too.

If anything, it's only going to get worse from here if you just want to jump into PVP and not do anything else.

I don't mind doing PVE/SP stuff, I just want to be able to play online with my friends, which I can't do without grinding this crap out an indefinite amount. I miss the days where you could just boot a game and play whichever mode you feel like.

I got my first exotic from an engram. I got the wardcliff coil. I can't wait to see what this can do.

The bolded is probably the bit he hasn't done.
Probably, it's hard not to since his symbol is on screen all the time until you do talk to him.

You don't need to grind anything to play multi. You need to finish the prologue.

Hours of grinding and tons of research.

10/10 hyperbole.

If only it was stated literally anywhere for me to find out without asking on a gaming board. It's these design decisions that really make me question what Bungie has become.

Go to the farm and look for the guy called Shaxx. He's in the barn thing to your right when you spawn. You should see the Crucible symbol above his head I think.

I think they mean the scout reports for each planet that you can buy from Cayde, lasts 4 hours, shows chests when you're close.

... i should probably get around to finishing that story already.

100%ing each planet (all adventures, doing like ... 6 public events between them) before moving on is probably not the best idea :P

Thank you! And thanks to everyone else who helped ITT

Guess I'm just bad at the game. Planning on putting more time into it this weekend.

So, if you finished the campaign and without spoiling anything, is the campaing better? I mean does the story makes sense now? Does feel like previous bungie games with nice cutscenes and incredible music? I mostly play games for the campaign and every once in a while i play the coop part but D1 was a huge letdown for me on the campaign side, sincd it didn't have one tbh

Yes. But I feel like I got more out of it being a die hard lore fan of Destiny 1. It's definitely a cohesive and enjoyable campaign though.

It's a more light hearted, less linear reverse version of Halo Reach

Holy shit that
biodome area was such a fucking cool throw back to 60s and 70s scifi it was an awesome mash up of movies I used to watch with my dad as a kid

So for those who have reached light level (?) 250 or around there... what do you think is the best way for a character who has just finished the story (level 20, light level 200) to start grinding for gear in order to get towards the 250+ mark?

Is it the usual of just running strikes?

It's different in Destiny 2. You can do pretty much anything to rank up. I just ran public events, lost sectors and adventures. Faster than running strikes.

I have just been running around the EDZ so far doing public events, and things. Up to 252 now, might go to another area tonight.

Adventures are so good man, dare I say it better than some of the story missions.

Yeah some of the adventures make me question why they weren't story missions. They're absolute gems.

On another note, wow just about every hunter exotic is absolute trash. They look cool but that's about it. Very strange how instead of making them extraordinary, Bungie instead makes them as boring as can be.

One exotic - Quickdraw for hand cannons.. that was a weapon perk in D1...

another exotic - quickdraw and fast reload for sidearms, which already reload insanely fast... again another weapon perk in D1...

some boots that make you jump slightly higher... except frostees in D1 were literally better in every way.

I just got the nightstalker unlocked yesterday, its pretty fun. Still leveling it up though. Sticking with gunslinger for now. Its the GOAT for me. Chain of woe and golden gun is sooo good. I just cant give up that fast reload.

I deactivated port forwarding for my PS4 Pro. Now my Pro doesn't need 50min to login to Destiny 2!

I thought that portforwarding would be better for onlineplay? My OG PS4 has the same router settings as my Pro and doesn't have problems with port forwarding??

at lvl 19 (194) now! found the cracked talisman for my third warlock subclass so just waiting on that unlocking by doing events and stuff.

i actually love this game so much right now. i'm having way more fun with it compared to Destiny 1. my biggest annoyance so far is not having a sparrow and having to run/jump everywhere. hopefully i get one soon.

all vendors i've found so i have gave them tokens but now it they all say i need to wait until lvl 20 to get an engram and to, i assume, further level them up. should i feel free to just redeem them whenever i can or should i hold on to them until i get a higher power level? i heard that's the best way to level up to max power or something.

Yeah that area was fuckin great. Amazing use of color.

As for nightstalker, use the single shot bow for PVE unless you're using it all on a boss. They buffed it so you can use it more than 3 times and each additional strike does extra damage. Unfortunately I believe they nerfed the multishot bow for PVP, I've hit people with it and they live with a sliver of health, which blows my mind considering how hard it is to aim and with how much deadlier they made some of the supers.

are you here to troll? Ive never seen so much hyperbole over an hour of playing. Jesus christ, play something else if its such a burden.
