Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Aw shit I did the first two crucible milestones already.

I missed out on legendary gear then...

Do gear power level drops depend on what you have equipped currently?

The only important milestone is the final one in the chain, the one with 'POWERFUL GEAR' as the reward.

Gear is supposed to drop based on your highest POSSIBLE light level but I dont trust it. I keep by best shit on, always.

FWIW:

I don't wear my highest gear and still get the highest possible loot.

I still dont trust RNGesus.

Got my first cbaracter to 284 nearly 285 in about 30 hours of play time. Here's my mehod:

Always decrypt legendary and exotic engrams right away. They dont increase in light when you do so if you dont use them they become worthless for light gain.

DO NOT do milestones until you are over 265. They are the best way apart from Nightfall to get gear over 270.

Get to around 250 from blue drops from public events and any engrams you get along the way. Stockpile all the faction rewards turnins during this time.

Once 250 give or take, start dumping your faction rewards turnins one at a time. Check the gear you get against your current gear and wear it if its higher. If your curre t gear DOES have a +5 mod on it and the new gear DOES NOT, infuse the new gear into the current gear to get the highest light possible. This should get you to 265 easily if you stockpiled faction rewards. Try to make sure your energy weapon and power weapon arent exotic due to next step.

If you got any +5 purple weapon/armor mods while turning in faction rewards, put them on any gear slots that dont have one if possible. SEE MY OTHER INFO BELOW THIS LIGHT GUIDE FOR AN EXPLANATION ON MAXIMIZING +5 MODS FOR LIGHT GAIN.

Once 265, do your first exotic primary weapon quest. That will bump you to 267 or higher assuming you have a few 270 pieces already (265 gear with a +5 mod).

NOW do all the milestones. Again, only turn in one at a time and check the rewards against your current gear, making sure to maximize based on any pieces that have the +5 mods. Make sure to join a clan for the clan milestone. Also do a 2nr exotic weapon quest after 1-2 milestones if you didnt get a higher light primary than the 1st exotic.

SAVE your favorite exotic quest for last. I waited to get my mida muti tool until I hit 283 light and it dropped at 293. That is what brough me to the upper half of 284 (and allows me to USE my trusty mida).

Doing this I was able to get to 284, two points shy of 285, on my first character without creating alts to re-do nightfall and whatnot.

Hope this helps someone.

I'm at 265 now, can someone explain to me the whole exotic infusing progression tip I keep reading about?

I don't fully understand what to do.

I'll try.

First off it doesnt matter if its exotic or not. Any legendary can have the +5 mod too. Exotics are just guaranteed to have one.

Lets say I have two scout rifles. Both are 265 light. One has a +5 mod on it (purple mod on the item detail screen with a 5 on it). The one with the +5 mod is ACTUALLY only a 260 light scout rifle. The item's true light level is whatever it would be without the +5. So a 273 with a +5 is actually a 268.

So, if my scout rifle with NO +5 mod is 265, I can infuse that into the other 265 scout rifle that HAS the +5. That will make it a true 265 rifle, and the +5 mod will bump it up to 270.

This is why its so important to look at every legendary gear you get and keep the ones with +5 mods, and maximize which items you are infusing into others as you go along. Theoretically you could get every gear slot to 270 before ever touching milestones and exotic quests, although that is unlikely.

Once you get to 280 light you can create +5 mods at the weapon vendor.

ALSO make sure if you max out 99,999 glimmer, UNLOAD it all at the weapon vendor by buying the 'random' blue mods for 2500 each so that you stockpile them to create loads of +5 mods when you hit 280 light.

The only thing about exotics is they always have a +5 mod on them, so their true light level is always 5 below what you see on them. I learned that the hard way when I tried to infuse a exotic INTO a legendary and got zero increase from it.

I just pop out to orbit and load back into the world when that happens. Sucks that you have to do that though.
Even better than this is fast travelling to the nearest location. Even fast travelling to a fast travel point within the same zone you were in puts you in a new instance with different people.

Hey Grave do you have a few minutes to help out with a NF/Rat King run? You completed it already right?

I can help, no havent done NF, failed @Boss

Do know the gist of it.

By the way I redeemed my Pop-Tarts codes
Where is my Sparrow and XP Bonus Motes (consumables)

Who gives you the rewards?
Postmaster doesn't have them

Cool--join on me when you are ready and I'll then just make you the leader.

Any tips for this NF and getting it below 5 minutes?

Just finished the campaign! I like the latter half of the games campaign better than the beginning. Story sucks but whatever, it made me feel good at the end though! :D

Watching the credits rn. Hopefully theres something at the end? ;)

I'm actually excited to hop into Crucible, start getting up to max LL. Thats alwayd the best part. Gonna go planet by planet finishing Adventures and Lost Sectors. Hoowee I'm excited!

So here's an interesting experience I had that goes against the common knowledge pushed here.

While I was doing the campaign, I turned in rep to Sloane. Enough to get a legendary engram from her. I couldn't claim it at the time because I wasn't level 20. It was power level 204. I forgot about it completely until I talked to her again to do the exotic quest later. I was 264 when I claimed it, so I expected it to decrypt around 204 like it said.

But it didn't. It decrypted at 265.

It's hella tough bro

You have to read up on what to do tell you the truth, communication is paramount

This NF is literally Mini- Raid with a Timer, I shit you not!

Not easy at all.

I feel like i’m totally missing something... i just finished the main storyline a few hours ago but I don’t recall it setting up anything massive. Is anyone able to clarify? Maybe I wasn’t paying attention.

Did you not see the (i think) post credits scene?

Does anyone like the new crucible in this game? My thoughts:

1. I do not like how I can’t choose a specific game type (Clash, Control, etc.).
2. Every match goes too long.

Bungie,

Why are the cutscenes so grainy and ugly?
Why is there no compass?
Why can't I see my friends on the map?
Why can't I set a point on the map?
Why can I have permanent exotic shaders but not regular shaders?
Why do I have to go to the Director for the roster?
What are Auras?
When can I see my clan roster in game?
Why does the game constantly try contacting your servers when my internet is running perfectly?
You gave us amazing items to scan, why is there no library?
Io may be the most beautiful planet you've ever created yet its underused. Can I have more?
And can you put the dead ghosts back in?

All these questions (and more) yet I'm having a blast. Amazing game.

My goodness, I sound like a broken record trying to get this nf done.

Anyone want to do it? There's always a complication with someone, but we need a third on psn.

Edit: Nvm, got a third. Hopefully this is it.

The NF itself is stupid easy. Finishing with over 5min left is tricky, but just finishing is wildly easy since you can all 3 die at the same time and still keep going.

Only gameplay type that feels fast is Control imo. Everything else has the numbers too high.

It technically did not “drop” for you at that time because you did not meet the requirements, so the time you actually got it is the time the system calculates its power.

Hunters while losing the utility the other two classes have can spawn orbs like nobody else. Both with precision hun shots (6 without even killing if you're accurate, bosses etc) or with the tried and true void tethers. Their tree also provides more squad bonuses via things like chains of woe, hunters tether etc. It's nice. It's a trade off, but one that may be worth it.

265ish warlock looking to do the Rat King Nightfall too. I have the Wardcliff Coil which I've heard helps alot. So let me know. PS4.

Clan is still in the early forming stages with sub 20 members, so this kind of thing may be beyond us for now.

If anyone wants to bolster out ranks on Will of Prometheus though (PS4, NA, that would be great, open so no need to wait for acceptance, getting close to level 2 thanks to the hard work of a few)

So my Insanity Patrol Loop Final Results;

8.5 Hours total. 100,000 Total Glimmer Earned, 410 EDZ Tokens (Exactly 20 Rank Packages), 96 Dusk Light Shards, 12 Dusklight Shards (Rare), 250 Gunsmith Materials, 5 Legendary Engrams.

Went from Level 1 to 20, Power Level 10 to 265
All my Blue Gear us @263 cap, which is hella weird, I'm guessing my Warlock ring high is benefitting it.

I'm on Mission #3 of the campaign by the way. All sub-classes unlocked, now all that XP I'll earn in Campaign translates to free Bright Engrams...

Gonna do my Hunter same way. All those other Power Leveling guides are nice, but my method destroys those!
You earn so many different things and then when you do campaign it's really worth it for now that you're in the bonus for those Bright Engrams.

Get those 5 Legendary Engrams to decrypt and 20 packages to get and earn a fully Legendary set hopefully from Devrim. Hope some come with Legendary +5 mod bonuses installed.

So glimmer is per character, not account? Thanks for this! This will be the way of my Hunter and Warlock!!! 🍻

So why did it still list as being a 204 Power engram?

Those rewards arent true engrams. They dont drop into your inventory as an engram to decrypt. They drop in already decrypted. Even though it showed as a 204 reward, you havent actually received it until you can claim it.

Milestones will do the same thing. If you finished a milestone at 250 light and look at it at the NPC but dont actually claim it, it will still increase with your light level.

Looking forward to see what happens next,
But it looks like
what might be a new race that has ties to the Darkness.

Ideally they should drop the Taken faction if thats the case, but it seems according to an adventure there is someone taking power in the Taken realm, as you fight a high order underling at the end of the adventure.

I think
it's the darkness itself.
I'll be very disappointed
if the darkness turns out to be bipedal aliens shooting guns and speaking english.

That's Oryx's sister supposedly. I would assume we will face her in an year expansion.
