A lot of gaming side posters like to say "games should only be fun and light hearted" or "stick to games" ignoring how culture seeps into everything. If you have a culture of normalizing hate and bigotry it will show in your games. White people on the gaming side just want to cover their eyes and ignore it all.

The first term I saw this, it was a thread about the Sony Netherlands ad where the white lady is grabbing the black lady with the text "white is coming". A gaffer (whose name I don't want to say, but I always remember this when I see him post) tried to defend this by saying first that he was in the US and didn't know for sure but maybe the Netherlands didn't have racism. Then he went on to say that the ad wouldn't be racist if they were blue and orange so it's not racist now, which is the worst fucking argument I've ever heard.
If people are more afraid of the label "racist" than they are of racism, they'll say fucking anything to keep things from being labelled racist. It's as easy as that.

It's so transparent. There is a big difference between me saying that it doesn't sound racist, to a non native speaker, to saying that using it as Pewdiepie did isn't for someone who is a native speaker, i understand that the word is offensive to most native english speakers and especially americans, but that doesn't take from the fact that lots lof people that speak english don't hold the word in the same way so it's not a big deal for them.
