Guys, in Europe it means something different so it's not a big deal. It's like how, in Europe, "Death to all Jews" doesn't have the historical context it does in America so he accidentally wrote it on a sign for his show because it doesn't register as bad to him.

These are just accidents and he's definitely not racist.

But seriously, do any companies still give this guy sponsorship money?

What now? These jokes wouldn't be funny if you didn't at some level believe in them. Like, what is inherently funny about dressing up as Hitler once you take away the reason why people find it offensive. It's not a funny play on words, it's not clever, it doesn't pull the rug from you.

It's just "look I'm dressed as Hitler!". Explain it to me.

I don't care for whether he's individually a racist. That's not what it's about really.

I just feel bad for the amount of kids he's suckering in with his dog whistles. and YouTube should absolutely make his content 18+

A lot of people will say "oh so its adult content, and shooting someone in a video game isn't?" No there's a difference between the curator and the art/medium in which is getting interacted with.

And in this case the curator being pewds is poisoning young minds in a deeply gross way.

He's exposing kids to deeply adult themes with his rhetoric, it's really gross.

I've noticed a lot of people, particularly in the competitive gaming world, use words like this because they like how taboo it is. And then, eventually, it comes out of them with zero effort and thought. Any time I try a competitive game with voice chat and people are talking, words like this are super pervasive. It's really quite pathetic, the stuff that comes out of people's mouths, and there is zero excuse for it.

I gotta say that some of the responses in this thread from so-called "Europeans" aren't doing any favors for the impression of the continent's sense of cultural sensitivity and awareness. In fact, it's making you all seem kinda clueless.

Perhaps you LePen, Wilders, etc. supporters should attempt a different, less obtuse approach, eh?

When PewDiePie was criticized for his rape jokes five years ago, he admitted that he was wrong and said he'd try to change his behaviour. I've seen a few people who have accepted that, I certainly did even though I have no urge to watch his content. Now that he's as rich as he is and feels like he's allowed to be a total asshole and goings on the attack instead of engaging in self-reflection when he's called on it, I have to go back and question his old apologies too.

It's not? At no point was I saying that they were funny, I'm saying that mainstream society gives a pass to jokes directed at Jewish people a lot of times, and it's not surprising that a less mainstream guy would take it even further.

Why bring it up though? The previous user brought it up as a case for why people should stop giving him the benefit of the doubt. He has done awful stuff before, gotten called out on it, and still managed to put his in his mouth once again.

All because mainstream society gives something a pass doesn't mean it isn't an indication that someone supports the problematic thing with full knowledge of what they're doing. People gave Trump a pass on his racist history but you only see his stans saying he doesn't have an issue with non-white people.

Please don't think that because it's not true. I can count the number of white people who I have heard use that word on one hand. And the ones I have I tell to never say it again.

I mean, in the end it's their right to defend their ip and image. I wouldn't want my art/work associated with people like him... So why would i want him making money off of it on top?

Its actually more that largely unedited Lets Plays arent covered by fair use but developers decided that they help their Games, so they allow them.
