Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

I have to say, I've only played a few hours of PvP so far but I much prefer it to D1. It require a more deliberate approach to encounters and the weapon types feel more balanced against each other.

The best thing is no more shotgun or sniper spamming.

I think the problem is how and when the game introduces it.

It's optional, of course, but when you're offered to start at the beginning, you're thrown into Crucible without full powers and lower level gear. Not ideal but less fun.

THEN it asks you to go into Competitive at the same basic level and THAT is a fucking nightmare.

And that can easily be a last straw for people. It was for me. I'll get back to it eventually, but the last thing I remember about Crucible is getting demolished, half my team leaving, and sitting around getting murdered for another three minutes so I can get the reward.

Disastrous.

Rat King is interesting in Nightfall because my small group got trashed / humiliated by it and then, the following day, blew it out with like 7:19 left just by approaching it normally. We didn't even skip any parts.

The "trick" really is to just make sure you have all elements covered, have rocket launchers / grenade launchers, go nuts on him when you first get to the boss to damage him as much as possible, and to teamshoot / not use stuff like shotguns.

We didn't even golden gun him.

I did however see a lot of people go full on shotgun warrior when they managed to get the power ammo. Some people just can't give it up! I've always preferred primary use in PvP so having a choice of two is great!

I also love the fact that your energy weapon helps with supers. Energy SMGs have broken shielded enemies in PvE.

I dont get the hate regarding the 4v4 D2 multiplayer at all. It's not even a contest... it's much better than the skill-less, grenade toss/super spam/shotgun-fest that was D1. Laughable that some think differently. But hey, some enjoy a much more casual MP experience so i guess D1 served them better.

I want my Titan back but I have absolutely no desire to redo the storyline again...and then again when PC comes out. I would gladly pay for a D2 "spark of light" to bypass this straight to level 20.

There are ways to get your point across without the condescending tone.

I can barely manage to stick with the story the first time through. (It's terrible) :(

Hard to believe I actually miss the vagueness and mystery of the plot in the first game.

Grenade launcher. They have no place in a game about precision, sustained dps and quick crowd control. They work in battlefield, but not in Destiny.

What are you talking about? They're fun in crucible and you get twice as many shots as a rocket launcher. I think they should do more damage, but it's silly to say they have no place in the game.

I don't really see the problem with Grenade Launcher. Most of the legendary ones have a good ammo capacity and can fire multiple time in a row, making them a good tool to control the crowd around you if you're surrounded.

they aren't really good against Bosses, but for the infantry, I found them being a better tool than Shotgun or Rocket Launcher?

Oh btw, I completely forgot, but are Heavy Machine Gun gone for ever now?

I was talking about PvE.

As for PvP, i don't like them much either. I get assured kills with RL. Provided i can grab the heavy ammo.

So I remember being totally stoked that NPCs are now in game characters and after the beta and seeing them do some bad ass scripted stuff I half expected them to be making more of an appearance in story missions but that never happened outside of a few more scripted instances. Have about 1 mission left in the story but is that it for NPC's being in game? Because if so thats disappointing.

So i never really raided in Destiny

How does saving progress in raids work?

Am I tied to the group of people I downed a boss with? Or is it based on the progress of the party leader?

What are some of the best Energy Hand Cannon's for PvE right now?

Sunshot and Sturm are great hand cannons. Especially Sunshot, way too much fun to use. Easily one of the best exotics they've made.

Anyone else really hoping they tune the grenades and melee a bit more? Even with the mods in place, the cooldowns are still over twice as long as they were in D1...

I'm in the exact same boat haha, I just can't face doing the campaign again

For what it's worth I saw someone say that you can level alt characters a lot quicker as you can put your sparrow in the vault and take it out as soon as you get to the farm - and use that to run through the campaign

I'm still not sure it helps much as you level from killing enemies, not simply completing missions?

Will get alt chars going at some point but I think I'll leave that bit of the grind for another time

I'm a little scared by all the 280+ players in week 1.
I mean, save something for week 2 guys!

Still, the game seems to drop a lot more loot compared to D1 and there are a lot more interesting and varied activities to do.
Maybe the events will get repetitive (even the heroic versions) but there seems a lot more to find and explore. In D1, I quickly ran out of stuff to do and was just repeating the same bounties and strikes using the glitchiest methods possible.
In D2 it feels like there are lots more options for levelling up.

PvP seems incredibly limited though. Fortunately, I'm a >90% PvE player.

In Destiny 1 when you made it to a checkpoint, it was tracked for your own character. We don't know if there's significant changes to how it works in D2.

So if you got 3 of 5 drops, if you ran with another party, you would only get the last 2 drops, but everyone else running it fresh with you that week would get all 5. You could get the drops again with your other characters.

Your progress is tied to you. When starting a raid, raid leader's progress controls.

Ok cool, so I wouldn't get drops but i could still join in.

It is. I already can't stand GLs in this game. So it just sit there at 290 not being used.

Wait... can't you just infuse it into another energy weapon? Or do we have to infuse 1:1 weapon types... grenade launcher into grenade launcher? (FML if so - i'm only 230s so havent even thought about infusing yet)

You're going to enjoy the last mission. :)

Arcstrider is the only Hunter subclass I care for tbh. Did Gunslinger in D1 and got bored of it and I'm just not a fan of the third one.

I'm loving the combination hit melee, dodge refill melee, melee refill dodge loop of abilities on arcstrider. Super fun.

What's up with the classified weapons and armor in the companion app though?
