PewDiePie calls someone a "fucking n****r" during PUBG livestream

Why won't Bluehole, Inc. just ban him to give the example, it's not like they need him playing for the game to sell?
As big as PUBG is, they probably sold a non-negligable number of copies because of PDP streaming their game. And they will continue to.

They also have zero concern when it comes to hate speech that takes place within the game itself.

They're not going to do a damn thing.

Lastly, calling out neogaf is getting old. It's obvious Boogie thinks he's so much smarter than the emotional left that get's offended when someone (with a primary audience of kids) uses the n-word.

I love how we're at the point where condemning someone for saying "nigger" makes you a "social justice warrior."

Has youtube demonetized him completely yet? They should and forever. Can't excuse this stuff. Look at the gains they have made just from Trump being elected...we need to stop this NOW.
Nope, they're still making each other lots of money. YouTube LOVES the money PewDiePie makes them from advertisers. No slap on the wrist for their golden goose.

Man that point was crossed a long time ago, these days criticizing Donald Trump, you know a public figure in a society where freedom of speech is championed will earn you the title of SJW.

Well it's a buzzword used by racists, sexists, antisemites and homophobes to describe those who criticize them. So that's actually pretty accurate.

Just read through the comments on the news article on a Norwegian gamer forum, and it's almost unanimous that this is a storm in a water glass. I'm really surprised/shocked, but then again, it might be a cultural thing as well. I've been using bad words as well, in the past, and I stopped when I understood what I actually said. I was as little racist then as I am now, but the words didn't really mean anything for me back then, other then being curse words.

So boogie writes this off as just "shock humor". El oh el

I wonder if it's because it isn't targeted at him. I have to know if he would have the same reaction if the "shock humor" (in this case, he is referring to uttering the n-word) wasn't racially charged, but instead had a body-shaming slant.

Just saw Boogie's tweets and I'm so sick of him. I can't believe this dude continues to get the adoration of the gaming industry.

"but it does set a precedent that would allow someone to make that kind of decision based on politics further down the road and thats [sic] scary"

Please, Boogie. It's a copyright issue. In this case, Campo Santo owns the copyright to the game and PDP is not allowed to just stream the game, it is a right given by Campo Santo that can, at any time, be taken away.

It's basically the same damn argument we make when banning Milo from speaking at college universities. There isn't any infringing on free speech, but by allowing Milo to speak, the university is implicitly supporting him and his "business," let's call it. Campo Santo does not have to have to support the obvious loser PDP.

Why are we jumping to defend this guy? Boogie tweets:

"I'm sure it was just a stupid mistake, one he regrets immeasurably."

WHY ARE YOU SURE OF THAT? As someone that gets discriminated against constantly, I'm guessing this kind of reaction is just an act of privilege and it's shocking to me, especially under the current administration, that white people can't believe that sometimes their friends are racists.

Lastly, calling out neogaf is getting old. It's obvious Boogie thinks he's so much smarter than the emotional left that get's offended when someone (with a primary audience of kids) uses the n-word.

I know there are bad people in the world. I know there are racists and antisemites and sexists. We have to deal with that, but what I'm sick of are the rest of us that try to defend them for no reason.

Look at this point there's no point in giving Boogie the benefit of the doubt anymore. He's not some naive, innocent guy who's just trying to be nice to everyone like he's some PBS mascot. The guy is a 30+ year old man.

He constantly defends people who are racists and bashes neoGAF (a forum which is generally anti-racism). That doesn't even fit with his supposed MO of "I'm just trying to be nice to everyone!"

He obviously shares the same beliefs and thoughts as those people he defends. He's actually even worse because he hides it all behind the facade of being a mediator or all-around positive person.

Exactly. Also, if I was playing PUBG and said "fucking fatass!" when someone was pissing me off, I doubt his opinion of the "shock humor" would be the same.

words are just words is the laziest fucking argument. Bitch, your most personal inmost voice and thoughts are made of WORDS. When you read a book and your imagination is filled with people and scenes and voices, the use of WORDS did that. On the flip side, yes, words can be as powerful as you allow them to be, but that does not negate the fact that, for the most part, the entire world is filtered through language into words.

Who among us hasn't shit their diaper and blamed it on George Soros during a heated gaming moment?
just this morning i had no choice but to strip naked on the train and shit while crying and screaming in front of women and children all because of that dastardly (((Soros)))

Yeah the amount of "words only have the power you give them" arguments I've seen to excuse a grown adult man using a racist slur is mind boggling

I showed this very thread/pdp clip to a couple of my PC buddies that are black and they don't care. One response was "it's his constitutional right and it doesn't sound racist to me" and the other was something like "I'm a black guy and I just can't care anymore. I have my own problems to deal with as opposed to worrying about some Swedish guy saying the N word. Words only have power if you're sensitive and let them have power."

You think our country's so innocent?

So many armchair ethics professors and lawyers in here, gee whiz. "BUT MUH PRECEDENT", as laughable as "BUT MUH FREE SPEEEEECH". Come to think of it, they may very well be one and the same excuse.

Never paid much attention to PDP, I responded at first as a benefit of a doubt that it was unintentional and a mistake and that everyone burning him at a stake maybe been premature ... but then I looked into it more, understood of the repercussions of his behavior will cause to youtube creators and the like. instead of learning his mistake he shrugs it off and repeats it... had to be intentional and there is no defense for that. I really hope youtube steps up and provides a punishment, twitch should too actually since it happened on their platform.

and at it's core, that is not inherently a bad response, the problem from what I am seeing is that the people who are championing that argument appear to do so they can continue to say really shitty things.

I had this debate with my friend recently, my main point was this; with the vastness of words available to us, why do you have to rely on words that have caused so much pain in the past and continue to do so? Language is incredible, and with a little effort you can really change what you say for the better by making a few choice adjustments. There is NO reason at all to drop a n-bomb, and if your intent wasn't racist then find a better fucking word to get your inner voice out.

Words are just words

edit: I'm a dumbass and I sent this without finish the sentence because I was playing Siege, sorry to all the people who thought this was either a /s or a real statement, is just me being a fucking dumbass.
