Between these two statements, I have to ask what exactly you think is being done to PDP? The worst thing to happen to him in this fallout is that Campo Santos has threatened to DMCA takedown vids he makes of their games and people have called him out and vowed no to contribute to him. Some who are just reiterating their commitment after his last bigoted display. He's not in handcuffs, he's not in jail or on the chopping block. People like Got and other minorities and other people in general have every right to call him out and drop him from their lives. If PDP is ignorant which I doubt, no one is under any obligation to educate him particularly since he is a grown man with resources he can access on his own to see why people in and out of his community don't like that he used a racial epithet. He still has one of YT highest subscription counts and is still a powerhouse so I don't know where this image of him "disappearing" or being "done away with" that youve conjured up is coming from.

Many of them think if they turn on a fellow YouTuber, they'll open a wound that'll jeopardise their profession. They feel so embattled as a nascent culture they see any criticism as an existential threat.

It's why you see bizarre shit like TB putting the media on trial for reporting JonTron's racist diarrhoea about immigrants polluting the gene pool, and then giving a perfunctory aside about how he was mistaken to say it. Or Boogie's first take on PDP's N bomb is that it will be used to hurt other YouTubers, then a perfunctory comment about how obviously PDP just made a mistake.

It's always a mistake see, even if it's a systemic issue that comes up again and again. Just get that technicality out of the way and pivot back to how the criticism by outside entities is unwarranted. To admit there might be a cultural problem, that racism, sexism or homophobia are being enable would mean the standards are not quite up to scratch, and after you've built your brand on being the truth tellers.

Ironically by having no standards for their profession and excusing inexcusable behaviour they're doing more damage than if they just called it the shitty behaviour of their peers in the first place.

Foremost, you need to fine tune your race detector if you're implying or thinking I'm also white. I was referring to how white adult will often be treated as if they're children long after they've left childhood in order to try and downplay awful behaviors and actions. Just think about the game 1942. It's a game that launched Capcom's first big franchise and a beloved game from the early NES days (and arcade of course). It's also a Japanese game in which the goal is annihilating the Japanese Imperial Navy. It's political as fuck, and was subjected to some censorship due to backlash in Japan.

Then you have another classic Sim City. Sim City pushed conservative supply side economics with its tax model.

Politics has been a part of gaming for almost its entire history.

It's obvious he uses the word off camera as many people do. I use the word all the time with my peers under the facade that it means something different since I am also black. It can't be seen as demeaning if I'm black as well. Obviously this is wrong. I admit that, but because of this I have no place to Judge PDP, even though I would kick his ass had he said it in front of me. Granted there are black people who despise the word entirely no matter who says it, and while I personally will not be a hypocrite about the word, out of empathy towards those people I am very sorry. If anything this has me reevaluating my use of the words even more so about my casual use around and towards non black folks. It's a dark day for YouTube indeed. When my little brother uses it online I cringe I feel like the veiled security,anonymity and influence of social media platforms and the vast online communities have forgotten the consequences and implications of speech. Younger people, like myself, seem to think that because overt racism is less prevalent in most places that nothing from the history of the black man's plight in America and around the world is too sacred or taboo.
