Takamaru revival with Platinum Games helming the project?

Or Kid Icarus Uprising sequel announced for Switch with, with Hal Laboratory?

As mentioned earlier, The Pokémon Company isn't gonna talk about Pokémon Switch in detail in a Direct when they still have Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon to promote & hype up.

Also, just saying "Surprise Announcement" is kinda cheating. You need to be specific when it comes to these bingo cards.

I'm throwing all my chips on VC info! All the good shit will be announced, the best Wii and Game Cube stuff, SNES, NES, N64... Sega will be present, as will PCEngine...

...and it'll all tie into a online community with achievements of some kind that unlock in-game collectibles of future new games or discounts on new and retro releases.

Also Metroid Prime 4!!!

Also some new big RPG!!!

Why???? Cuz I simply love to torture myself.

Edit: and Animal Crossing; Tom Nook is the devil edition.

Also, the "number of reps" business is another whacky bullshit made-up rule that Sakurai never actually considers but that the Smash fandom invents for itself, only to act surprised when Sakurai predictably does something unpredictable

And they'll use the Animal Crossing image to say that "Sakurai's rules can't be trusted" when it's the "rules" they themselves made up in their heads and it wasn't really a rule and more of character building ideas.

You can tell I hate the Smash fandom.

The Pokémon part or the "Surprise Announcement" section? If you mean the former, they definitely aren't gonna say anything in detail about Pokémon Switch. It'd basically be throwing Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon under the bus. As for the latter, yeah, the way you listed it is way too generic. By your logic, I could just say "Obvious Announcement" in my bingo card.

Capcom already has two reps (Ryu and Megaman), as well as Sega (Sonic and Bayonetta).
If you want to get super technical, Capcom Co. Ltd. has one (Mega Man), Capcom USA has one (Ryu), & Sega has two (Sonic & Bayonetta). Yes, Capcom USA owns Street Fighter instead of Capcom Co. Ltd., it's really weird.

OCD runs rampant in the gaming community. This is, after all, the hobby where people will sink hours into a game they no longer enjoy just to get a platinum trophy. And I think this is why Smash fans feel the need to impose an internal logic on everything. Since Sakurai just does what he thinks is best, this leaves fans to invent their own logic for everything. This leads to them seeing "rules" where none really exist. Even Sakurai's own suggested rules are more like guidelines, subject to stretching or straight-up revision at a moment's notice.

.
Why are you so concerned about my bingo card?

I will admit some squares teeter into 'you're dreaming' territory, and the Pokemon Switch square is definitely one of them. If it doesn't, it doesn't; I'm not aiming to get a full card marked here.

As for the surprise announcement, if I specified it, it wouldn't be a surprise, now would it?

I do have one serious prediction:

US/UM newsflash: Dusk Form Lycanroc! (Midnight form with a pink coat of paint)

I think we might just be getting one Lycanroc. Ash has the Dusk Lycanroc in the anime, so if they were to do a Dawn Lycanroc, Gladion probably would have its counterpart (he just has midnight).

Reggie Voice: "For those of you whose been waiting to watch movies on your video game console, now is the time. Nintendo and Sony have partnered together to deliver the first cross-exclusive game, Uncharted 1,2 and 3 will be available for the Nintendo Switch Spring 2018."

This was the one that got me to laugh at loud. Really nice post!

Please, please stop with that Smash nonsense. Every damn Nintendo thread becomes a Smash thread. And then you get gaught up in the silliest little things. So boring. Make yourselves a Smash thread where you argue about the direction of Snake's nipples or something.

I mean, Nintendo has so many better and livelier game series to talk about!

No, there's still... 42 hours to go.

I wish they announced these things 5 hours in advance at most.....I am not patient.

Edit:
Feel like people are generally more excited going into this than the e3 spotlight.

They have repeatedly shown they don't necessarily make all of their big announcements or show their best trailers at E3. Generally, the length of a Direct is a better sign they have a lot they want to talk about. This is 20 minutes longer than what they showed at E3.

Namco will announce a new RIDGE RACER, surprising everyone, or Sega, a SEGA GT.

We'll get Retro's project, which will be Perfect Dark: Ascension or something.

From Software working on a original RPG for Switch

Port of TEKKEN 7 as well.

SE will show Octopath Traveler and a tease of a new game. Also hint at FFVI remake and FFVII remakes on Switch.

Nintendo and Capcom announce at end of show Nintendo vs Capcom fighter.

I understand asking people not to talk about Smash, but then you bait people into talking about it more with that last sentence. Tsk tsk.

Not sure if it is legit but Sakurai tweeted yesterday that smash bros would be revealed 13th september

I understand your frustration with Smash discussion. Still though, you got me thinking, what about Ridley's nipples? Surely they aren't too big.

That's true that we have two home for Smash Discussion which are 1) http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1216089 - Smash Bros Community Thread and 2) NintendoGAF Discord - https://discord.gg/dhdXjQt

But again, Smash is part of Nintendo in big way since it's one of top few franchise for Nintendo since it always sell very well. It would be so silly to being so dismissive about it. It's funny how you are trying to shitting on Smash Bros with that closure statement because its basically like "STOP TALKING ABOUT THING I DONT LIKE!" ;P

It's unlikely that Fire Emblem 2018 will show up as anything more than a CG teaser/logo so all i'm really hoping for is a new Starfy game revealed, especially after that odd decision to include him in Mario Maker.

It may be still too early to talk about such a thing, not to mention Koei Tecmo is likely focused on Fire Emblem Musou atm, but I would love to hear word about a new Fatal Frame. At least on the JP broadcast!

While I doubt we'll get a Smash announcement in the direct (would seem a touch weird to see it here in my opinion), part of me feels like if we were to get a smash announcement, it probably would happen towards the end of the year.

Something like: "It has been one year since we first announced Switch, and to mark the One year anniversary of the Switch's Launch: We are proud to announce: 'Smash for Switch.'"

My only thought to that though is if the game itself would be a straight out "port" or an "enhanced port" to which it makes me wonder if perhaps a case could happen where the "runner ups" of the Smash Ballot would be given a second chance here?

...

And then the possibility of us having another third party character, but it is in the form of an "indie" character. From there, I say it would be a toss up to Shovels or Shantae (Or if we were going off the deep end, Banjo could be the left field pick or since everyone is so focused on a certain other special game announced during the "Nindies," why not Mr. Touchdown?)

...

Going to back away from these thoughts for now. The last thing I want to do is hype myself up for something that's not going to happen.

I've already spoke my mind about what I hope to see from the direct, and hopefully we will get a really big announcement that will be given further details at the Tokyo Game Show. As for what that is, you got me on that one...

Probably because the e3 spotlight showed that Nintendo is actually willing now to announce games beyond the current year (i.e. stuff we mostly already know about) despite what they might say in descriptions regarding the directs.

So since the e3 direct exceeded people's expectations in that sense, people have a newfound optimism for the regular ones. Plus, the lengthy time for this one helps.

This might be wayyy out there, but didn't eurogamer say they'll be talking obsidian's next big thing this week? So maybe it has something to do with Nintendo, I mean it king of lines up quite week to be a coincidence.

They had showed that in the Direct preceeding E3 as well, like in the Splatoon 2+ARMS Direct, where they talked about lots of other stuff as well.

Just before E3, lot of the internet was angry that the Pokemon Direct didn't announce a Pokemon game for the Switch.

Do we still think the Kirby holiday 3DS multiplayer action title is a thing?

I'm starting to wonder if that became the Switch title not long before E3.

I'm thinking it's a thing and just won't be as cool or big as people think. My guess is that's some weird expansion of the Kirby fighting game they put on the eShop. That wouldn't make much sense, but it's the irrational feeling I got from the intitial teases.

Yeah, it could be a small eShop release, I suppose

I agree. I expect a largely expanded Kirby Fighters with additional characters (Dedede, Meta Knight, Bandanna Dee) and other additions. I'd LOVE a proper Kirby fighter with tons of characters from the series' history (Marx vs. Dark Matter Swordsman vs. Daroach vs. Haltmann?), but that's never happening unfortunately. Heck, I'd love a game in the style of Super Star Ultra's Helper to Hero with villains playable!
Kirby has sooo many amazing villain designs, it's a shame only Dedede (still a great character, don't get me wrong) ever managed to get promoted to playable on a semi regular basis!

I could see it being an eShop title, but this late in the 3DS's life with Nintendo's output being what it is, I could see it getting pushed to retail, too, to flesh out their release schedule.

Think of the Kirby fighting game but with 20-30 copy abilities (maybe nearly everything from Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot combined), an arcade/story mode, and more stages. It'd probably be low effort (likely not many assets to be made) and could be sold at retail as a lean package that would feel slightly overpriced at $30 but something people might pick up for their kid at Chistmas.

That's what I'm imagining. It'd be nice if HAL surprises me.

Feel like people are generally more excited going into this than the e3 spotlight.

They only hold a direct if they have something to announce. E3 on the other hand is more of an obligation so they have to have a conference whether they have something to announce or not. So in a way I feel like there's always going to be something announced at a direct whereas E3 can and often does disappoint.

My biggest hope is for BotW DLC 2 trailer and of course some new Mario stuff (although I'm worried about seeing too much at this point. Anything else is getting my hopes up too much imho.
