Hmm, yeah, you're right. Reading the Eurogamer faceoff and it sounds kinda rough.

It does, but this is Koonami we are talking about. I imagine they would be more than happy with plopping out a 720p/30fps portable version of Phantom Pain (assuming it doesn't consume too much man power to produce).

Yeah, phantom pain runs wonderfully on low tier PCs, and Afaik, it runs very well with nvidia hardware. Performance would not be a problem, but time to port it and the overlords giving permission to do it is another thing.

Abyone hopes for more Mario Kart Deluxe content. Would love some more retro tracks, I wouldnt mind if they did an all retro dlc.

It's the only reason I haven't deleted its 7gb yet tbh. I don't think it'll really happen anyway but that would be cool.
Man I should have bought the cart instead

This. I'm sure it could happen, but would Konami approve of such a thing? I doubt it. There not very interested in games anymore, and can make lots of money off those Metal Gear Pachinko machines.

I'd love more Mario Kart 8, period. Retro tracks would be awesome too, tho.

Y'all are setting yourselves up for disappointment if you start thinking GameXplain's fun predictions are meant to be taken seriously. I don't understand why Nintendo fans rush to believe in any bit of speculation or rumor. Be level headed for once and realize that GameXplain and Rogers Base enjoy throwing out predictions because it's a part of the hype cycle of a Nintendo Direct and not a serious prediction or reflection of insider knowledge.

that's GAF in general

Konami made Bomberman R for Switch and it did very well. Not sure why they wouldn't want to support Nintendo still and bring Phantom Pain.

Completely different target audiences. That's like wondering why Ubisoft isn't bringing FarCry 5 to Switch when Just Dance has performed well.

Metal gear has been on Nintendo platform before, the audience of the switch is not family soccer mom kids etc. Dunno, I don't see why it wouldn't work, apart from the self fulfilling prophecy of "these type of games don't sell on a Nintendo platform". Switch audience differs from WiiU's one. Devs should have noticed that.

We'll see. Outside of your word, publishers don't really have anything to go by at the moment, simply due to the lack of such titles. And EA, Ubisoft, and Activision don't seem to put much faith into your word. Only Bethesda and Take 2 seem to be willing to give it a try.

I don't agree. They're the same type of audience and Nintendo is treating it as such, but without it being hindered by bad hardware that prevents people from jumping in. Plus the far better marketing.

After all, Nintendos major software lineup so far is Mario kart 8 ported to switch, a very close sequel to a top Wii u game with Splatoon 2, and the biggest game at launch was also released on Wii u with breath of the wild. And let's not pretend arms would have been out of place on Wii U.

I'd kill for a Bayonetta 1+2 combo on Switch but I hope the port comes with some improvements. Never had the chance to play them on Wii U.

I know this wouldn't be big for most people, but if they did announce Mario Party 11 or whatever number they're on and it's a return to the original Mario Party games with online, then I'd be ecstatic. It would be huge news to me.

Uh, proof? I don't see a VC equivalent on Switch yet, man.

There's no evidence that they're delaying VC because of Mini consoles. They're planning to have one Mini system every holiday it seems, with rumors or N64 mini it makes more sense. They said multiple times that they would offer a retro system on the console, just that they had nothing to announce at the time.

There are rumors saying that Virtual Console will be replaced by a location service ala PS+. We'll see how it goes. They'll have to talk about it when they'll explain the online retro games stuff.

What other "safe bets" are there?

Super Mario Odyssey
Metroid: Samus Returns
Pokken Tournament DX
Pokémon Gold & Silver
Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon
Fire Emblem Warriors
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
Kirby 3DS Multiplayer Action Title
LoZ BotW: The Champions' Ballad
Mario + Rabbids DLC Season Pass
Steamworld Dig 2
Golf Story
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Rocket League
L.A. Noire
Resident Evil Revelations Collection
ARMS 3.0 Update (Lola Pop)
Splatoon 2 - New Ranked Mode
NES Classic/SNES Classic availability
Nintendo World Championships 2017

Why do some of you guys think these mini consoles means no VC?

Just because they has "some" SNES and NES games on them shouldn't stop a VC. These mini consoles are collectors items.

This is a reasonable argument, but Switch has yet to reach a more family- and kid-oriented audience. In my opinion (I do not have data to back this up), Super Bomberman R was mainly bought by nostalgic adult gamers. I do not know how much this gamerbase would overlap with that buying Metal Gear Solid, though. Maybe something like a traditional Castlevania makes more sense. Also, a Phantom Pain porting would require a lot of resources, being a wide game, developed by a team who has been basically disbanded.

In fact I'm waiting for PES 2018 International edition.
local and online multiplayer experience, single-Joycon-multiplayer-on-the-go, nostaglia effect (they could call it ISS Pro in the West too!)

Yep, I agree that the real tests will be Skyrim, fifa and the reception of la noire will be interesting to see.
But higher numbers than expected for numerous games makes me think Switch audience is more open and far less toxic than the WiiU's one.

You and me both brother. Love Mario Party in all it's stupid glory!

Make it like 2 and 3, but with the traps and sped up AI-turns from 5. Bring in the stock based board idea from Windmills(7)/Hotels(8) as a seperate mode, along with Toad Scramble from 3DS. Give the minigames a greater focus/length and per minigame-variations. Maybe have the boards change as the game progresses to keep long games interesting.

So much potential.

There's great potential with this series. They just need to bring it back to what worked and add to it.

Well...kinda yeah for the Direct, but it could appear at TGS.

It's confirmed to be at TGS. Square's having a 45 minute presentation for it.

We'll get news on Xenoblade, Pokken, Mario, Fire Emblem Warriors on 3ds and Switch, maybe a brief mention of Ultra Sun and Moon, Skyrim, Mario + Rabbids dlc and the final Zelda dlc. There will be 1 or 2 new announcements, but don't expect much new.
