Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

IMO, Sidearms, submachine guns and shotguns are awful in PvE.

Sidearms are just a weaker shittier version of the regular auto/burst/scout rifles. The only advantage is a fast switch speed, but that's only really useful in PvP.
SMGs are a shit version of an autorifle with insanely bad recoil. I don't even know what the point of them is. They need to do a lot more damage to make up for the lack of precision bonus damage (not to mention completely missed shots).
Shotguns are just a shit sword.

Are drops based on your current equipment or your total loadout? I know engrams use your best theoretical loadout (even including the vault and alts) but I'm not sure about chests and mob-drops.
I'd like to leave my SMGs in the backpack if possible.
I wish I'd kept my damaged city armour so I could do a quick test.

You should jump on PC and see how shit the hand guns are! Oh wait, your dead before you even saw the hunter with the hand cannon.

Console PVP vs PC PVP, completely different world. People who are good with the hand cannons are devastating.

Hmmm. I can't remember what the trigger was for me then. Perhaps the light level needs to be above 260 first? It's fairly achievable with just public events anyway and by that point you'll be very close to ready to take the end of story engram anyway.

I wouldn't worry too much. Whatever the trigger is you'll have hit it by the time you're ready to do them.

Nah, don't need to be any specific light level for it to show up. I was way under most of them before I did them. Not sure why it doesn't pop for him.

As a just ok PVP player I like this..

Yes, as a mediocre player myself, it hits the right buttons to see positive feedback. Only have played about 15 matches or so, but I'm doing atypically well in this one (statistically), and I think this helps.

It's missing the Better Devils Handcannon which has explosive rounds. Which helps to reduce falloff damage thanks to a certain chunk of damage being converted into explosive damage.
...and Uriel's Gift. I haven't had one drop for me, but people are gushing over it. I definitely want to try it out though, as it seems Shadow Price-y. I adored that gun in D1.

I think you have to talk to everyone once completing the story and accept any rewards before those pop up.

I think this is the problem. I'm pretty sure they appeared for a friend when he picked up the reward.

Just swinging in the dark here, but..

-end game stuff-

After you beat the story, did you go to the tower & speak with everyone? That seemed to "initiate" the end game for me as I want able to really do anything until after I spoke with them. There's also a lot going on at the tower the first time you go, so it was easy for me to overlook talking to someone.

Yeah...
Fuck.
Waiting till 270 to take that Engram from Vuvuzela is going to be hard...
I want to play some crucible, but without
MIDA
, I'm pretty much trash... Decisions... Decisions....

I'm in the same boat and I'm going to hold off until I'm a higher LL which should only take a evening or two. Less of an grind now is preferable to more of a grind later heh

The bigger issue for me if the fact that the nightfall is locked behind his reward too. So I'm going to miss out on any nightfall runs that happen for a few evenings

Could of sworn it didn't pop for me till I took that exotic from zavala.

Unless you're planning on raiding asap, I'd say just grab it. It's nice to get it when you're a high power level, but I grabbed it at 220 light and I still managed to reach 270 by the end of the week.

Huh that is odd. Mine might have also been there for a long time and I never noticed. Perhaps he hasn't spoken to all the other NPC except for the last one who gives the engram yet? Thinking about it the planets had icons next to them for a while so they were likely active for me for a long time now.

so what do i do with glimmer now? i've reached the limit. well i'm not sure if it's capped but it says 99999+ so i guess i'm still getting glimmer but it's just not showing it.

i only used glimmer early on to buy gear from vendors to level up quicker. the game is completely showering me in it unlike the first game. i don't know what to do with legendary shards or bright dust either.

Rare weapon mods at the gunsmith. You'll be able to trade 3:1 for legendary mods at 280.

Otherwise caydes cache are back with the reset.

Yea, I think he might've missed talking to some NPCs. He'll need to check his map and see what icons are flashing.

Going into the end of the week I was at max glimmer cap. Trying to get a legendary kinetic weapon mod took me down to 4k...and still didn't get one yet. I hope chest in the raid have chances to drop legendary weapon mods, especially the more rare ones.

I had no idea you could fuse weapons of the same light level together and the weapon that was fused would go up in light. I thought the number always had to be higher

Uriel's Gift is nuts in pvp. I love it.

Decisions... Decisions....

In my
un
professional opinion, go ahead and grab it. One exotic engram isn't going to make a huge difference in the long run, & doing so (grabbing it) will lead you to a gun you want. To me, getting a gun you want earlier would outweigh gaining light, fuck.. POWER, levels you're going to gain anyways.

Either way though, that's why you can't see the quests yet. Once you get the exotic engram, it should trigger exotic quests
on each planet.

The post you quoted wasn't criticising hand cannons, but rather just sidearms... Hand cannons are good on console as well.

Swords are the main annoying thing right now on consoles as far as PvP goes, think they will be less effective on PC however with the wider FoV options and quicker turn speeds.

On purpose...
Waiting till 270 to talk to one of them grants an exotic at a higher power level than the 270 soft cap...

Yeaahhhhhhh... But then I need to rely on a scout rifle of higher power dropping to infuse it into
MIDA
since it is my weapon of choice.
Hopefully the slog from 241 to 270 doesn't take too long.

I'm playing this with the complete opposite mindset I had with Destiny 1 and enjoying it so much more. With D1, I was researching and learning all I could about every planet, every stat, how to cheese nightfalls, researching the raid beforehand etc and essentially go about it exactly like I did back in WoW when I was with the top raiding guild of my server. With D2, I've just been slowly pushing through the content and allowing myself to get sidetracked. I feel like I might be behind the curb a bit but enjoying it much more and hopefully I won't burn out in 2 months like I did with D1.

My only concern now is not being prepared for the raid this week but hopefully I can catch up by this weekend.

Tried running that Nightfall last night at 255 with two others at 260+ and came up short twice. 240 Recommendation my ass. I'm sure we could have nailed it if we had a Hunter with Tether.

My bad.

Bring back LMGs!!

I miss my Thunderlord :(

Needs a bigger splash damage range.

Is everything tied between mp and sp again in destiny 2? If so they won't increase the splash range, maybe just buff direct hits.

Bigger splash damage would help

I use the Prospector and it's great. I use it as a super powered rapid fire shotgun. It does ridiculous damage. I can't imagine using anything else in the power slot unless they release some better rockets. Or give us our heavy machine guns.

I think that dropped for me today from Cayde, sent it straight to the vault. I'll test it tonight.

Pretty much every new or reworked weapon class is horrible. Grenade Launchers are awful, Sidearms are awful, the only good SMGs are Riskrunner for PVE and maaaaybe Antiope-D for PVP. They seriously need to do some balancing.
Goddamit Bungo...

I'm not sure, I've had some good sidearms in the past. I hear Rat King is good as well, especially if the bonus kicks in. I haven't seen any good smgs apart from the mini-mida.

On purpose...

You could also just do Milestones as well. No need to wait. I'm at 275 currently. Should be way past 280 once I do the Milestones tonight. You level up so fast in this game.

I played week 1 by doing everything as it became available, and will be doing week 2 in a similar fashion. Question is - is there an ideal sequence in which I should be doing milestones and such? I'm at 271 right now (with highest level gear on), but should I try to bump that up with the higher level (powerful) rewards right away, so then the legendaries start dropping higher? Right now, it seems all my faction rewards are capped at 265, with rare 270's due to +5 mods. At what point does this change?

Also, I have +5 mods for both arms and legs, but I'm not sure if the 265 gear in those slots are the ones I'll be sticking with. It would bump my PL up, so is it advisable?

I can tell you from experience if you want to min/max your time, do a token turnin every now and then. I had like 260 tokens at 259 PL and by the time I turned them all in I was getting all 265 with probably 120 tokens left. I then finished out those 120 tokens and got maybe one piece with a +5 mod so it's your call if you want to gamble for getting a +5 piece, but I wasn't very lucky. Each turn in is usually 2 purples so if you wanted to maximize your time, you do a turn in and maybe a few events then another turn in. There's a small chance of getting a +5 mod too when doing these

Right. That's what I am afraid of. Thanks man, I will turn in a few tokens tonight and see where i land. I will save a 100 for when I hit 260.

I really don't think that's the case at all, especially in Destiny 2. I think a GL does more damage in a shorter amount of time, which is useful.

Keep and eye out for the Curtain Call rocket launcher. It's from the vanguard and it's the only one I've seen with cluster bombs. It seems to do decent damage.

I got the Drum (or was it the Strung? Strang?) from the Failsafe post-campaign quest and seeing as I wasn't a huge fan I dismantled it for the shards, baby.

Are there any teams that are going to tackle the raid blind as soon as soon as it drops?

The friends I usually play with are all MIA, they haven't even bought D2 due to life circumstances, so that leaves me not only with a clan where I'm the only active person, but also no fireteam to go into the raid on launch day.

So as I asked, are there any fireteams interested in jumping on the raid as soon as it comes out, prepared to go at it blindly and willing to put in many hours to get as far as they can get while remaining cool headed, with room for another Guardian?

I'm a 290+ Hunter/Warlock and I got plenty of experience with Destiny. I've been there for every raid day 1, so let's do this. I know some of DGAF knows I'm good for it.

Hotfix incoming according to the bungie help Twitter. The link doesn't give notes, nerf to pub events incoming?
Wouldn't surprise me if they did. These are relgating the adventures as irrelevant as the faster way to level up is to grind public events.

They obviously put work into the adventures and I'm sure they don't want folks just skipping the content.
