Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Just saw that they made guided games live.

Does it seem to work well so far?

No. They have some weird ticket system in place, if you don't have a ticket you can't even try and find 2 people playing. Kind of defeats the purpose because tada, there is no way to get tickets unless Bungie gives you one.

Hype for the raid. But being cautious too. I'm really hoping for a longer raid than normal.

Crota was too short.
Wrath of the Machine was a bit better.
Vault imposed length by spacing the oracles timing
Taken King was juuuuuust right.

Also not modding guns til I run in and see the element types were up against. Anyone know the best way to get glimmer? 5000 a pop for these mods are crazy.

WotM was the perfect length. Long raids aren't conducive to being replayed and most people would just rather skip most parts.

PUGs are pretty much dead IMO. They moved crucible from casual to semi-serious, and all it takes is one jackass leyroying to lose the match.

I won't be running much crucible solo anymore. Maybe the events will be a little better.
I don't have any of these issues in crucible, maybe its because we are usually on the winning side?

Haha, god, I hope they never change this. You're probably talking about being in the middle of the Cabal vs. Fallen skirmish out in front of the church.

If it feels rough now know that coming back later and completely obliterating everything in that area is very satisfying.

Yea I actually love this area... It's definitely a great spot to try out new guns kinda like how everyone would receive a new exotic in D1 then rush to the cosmodrome as the first place to try stuff out.

Yeeeeah, definitely wait for and wait for and give this guy's review the diligent study it demands :P

Anyway the base campaign at Recommended or higher power (which he is) is tuned to be doable by players of all skill levels who just wish to experience the story, and is not a good representation of available challenge in Destiny. It's simply not intended to be hard. If you are more skilled you can complete campaign missions well below the recommended level for more of a challenge, or participate in endgame activities. Completing the story is basically the start of a character's progression in D2. Considering how Borderlands structures its challenges I don't think what he is complaining here about would actually impact your enjoyment much.

I'm honestly not gonna fault anyone for take a critical approach to Destiny 2. I haven't watched this guys videos other than the one linked in that post, but assuming he's not making up lies about the game, I don't see why he should be discounted as a valid source of information.

Personally looking at the linked video, I think that sounds and looks incredibly disappointing. And it's not like this guy is the only one that have pointed out that the campaign is staggeringly easy, so I don't have much reason to discount what he's saying or showing just because he's being highly critical in how he says it.

Arguing that the base campaign is designed to be doable by all players is fine and valid, it should be. But I think doing so at the expense of everyone who don't enjoy practically walking through levels without any challenge is a pretty bad move. Engaging combat scenarios and enemy AI is a hallmark of Bungie games, and to more or less remove that is crazy to my mind, and I don't think it's something that you can downplay by saying that it's "just" for the 16 missions story campaign.

At the end of the day there should really just have been 2-3 difficulties to choose from, instead of only making it available in what sounds like the equivalent of easy mode.

Gotta be honest I'm already feeling a little bit of burnout at almost 280 light. Other than this quest that can't be finished until the raid this feels a lot like the D1 end game of 1 raid and nightfall per week again.

The milestones actually give less to do at the high end than we had in D1 iirc. We had challenges in D1 including heroic missions right? It feels like an even slimmer end game than the first game tbh.

So we double checked this morning... If you do prestige nightfall on a character this does not give you the loot drop from the normal nightfall as well. You can do normal mode after and still get that loot...

Bit odd tbh as all heroic versions of activities in D1 gave you both loot tables.

well now you would normally transition into weapon and armor optimization and locking in your playstyle

Maybe even work on another class.

Since we no longer have weapon rolls.... i suppose its best to hope that they consistently expand the weapon pool though

This is the beta implementation intentionally limiting access. Anyone should be able to use it come 9/26.
Guided Games will be in a limited-access Beta for the Nightfall activity from September 12, 2017 through September 26, 2017.
During the Guided Games Beta, all Clans will be eligible to join a Guided Game as a Guide.
A percentage of players will be given tickets to join a Guided Game as a Seeker.
September 26, 2017 is the targeted release date of Guided Games for all players for the Raid and Nightfall activities.

I'm 281. Fully raid ready. Unfortunately I won't have time to do the raid for about 3 weeks lol. I hope I can still find a GAF group to run it with then.

This is my hope 100%. They've drastically reduced the amount of unique weapons in the pool by moving to static rolls. I already have almost every legendary available. They need to keep putting out fresh content/equipment IMO.

I would consider using Merciless and Coldheart for PVE and Borealis sniper for PVP. All those are better at boss damage, which is my main goal for exotics. Sunspot is amazing/one of the best for ads clear though. On the nightfall, it ruled over all once the solar buff was on.
Coldheart is insane for PVE, even when leveled below a lot of my weapons it packs a lot more of a punch. I assumed that being pre-order DLC would mean it was really nerfed.

now at lvl 268 :) got the Rat King now thanks to both Aztechnology and LostInNoise for helping out.

that was the first time i've experienced a nightfall in destiny. it's got me excited to do even more. this game is so fun!

That's gonna be super annoying if it carries over to the raid.

I have to try out that gun again. Tried to use it in PVP & it was not working out for me.

Merciless is for yellow bar enemies with lots of health.

Yep, I'm very interested to see how quickly people drop the game once the initial grind ends. People love the game right now but oh boy 3 weeks from now, I'm sure we'll see an incredibly bored fanbase until expansion 1.

Yeah I've already started an alt. Tbh I had all 3 classes in D1 at 28 or above so I'll likely do the same here. I just coulda sworn I remember there being more to do last time round. Like there was things that I'd take a while to do or wouldn't actually manage to do sometimes. Last night I did all milestones in one sitting and only have the raid left on this character now.

Apparently if your clan is full, you can't even do it.

Well that's certainly disappointing. I don't understand why even have a ticket system in place, just make it unlimited use and open to everyone.

Either way, it's beta so hopefully there are improvements to the system in the future.

As a newbie:

Am I dumb for dismantling the exotics I got while playing the campaign because they fell off in damage for being too low level? Was there a way to boost them up?

I mean this why I've always supported the random weapon rolls. You really kill the fun in a loot game by making everything the same. Plus, puts more pressure on the developer to develop an insane amount of items to keep people happy.

Really hope Bungie has a good plan in place to keep people coming back for more. Obviously wayyyyyy too early to tell.

...Only there? Why? I liked it, but I don't think I want to try to get competitive with the PVP.

It doesn't matter. "Competitive" is just different gametypes. You can still get lowly lvl guys in there too. Calling it Competitive is a joke. Crucible is a mess right now.

i wouldn't be dismantling them. you can infuse them to make them more powerful.

if your exotic helmet is 260 for example but you are lvl 270 and you have a lvl 270 helmet you can infuse that 270 with the 260 to bring the exotic up to 270. i've been doing that with my exotic helmet.

His videos are absolute unadulterated clickbait, leveraging the platform of YouTube to a pitch-perfect extent to be controversial, and it does detract from the validity of his opinions. There is no value, because any valid criticisms are cloaked in shit.

The campaign is staggeringly easy at recommended or higher power and this is a valid complaint. It can pose a challenge if you approach missions at lower power which also rewards more XP. I died several times in story missions doing this, especially the later ones, and perhaps I deserve to be mocked for sucking at Destiny as a result. But I stand by my assertion that if someone comes to Destiny 2 seeking challenging gameplay the campaign essentially the starting bar you must clear to take part, not a full representation of the engaging combat scenarios the game has to offer if you seek them.

Many players joined D1 and are joining D2 with this as their first game of this time, in some cases even their first FPS or game with mouselook. I know it sounds crazy but I've met them. A Nightfall (even a relatively easy one like this week's) is a considerable challenge for these players, let alone the Prestige version, the raid or its eventually hard mode.

There's been an attempt to make it possible for all of these players of vastly different skill levels to coexist somewhat seamlessly in this universe and it's not an easy balancing act but I personally consider Bungie to have succeeded vastly more than they have failed here.

Difficulty options for initial playthroughs would be a good addition.

You have to do the initial strike milestone first -- I can help you with the ratking quest -- psn is rabidraccoon

yeah i'm lvl 261 and just finished the two standard strikes. i'll go log back in.

Hey guys just wanted to say great runs, really caught on quick and you guys made it look easy lol.

Feel free to both jump in and join my clan if you'd like. I'd be happy to have either of you in a fireteam for a raid or nightfall in the future.

That's probably when I will be ready, lol. There will be plenty of folks still running, I wouldn't worry about that!

Is the top one supposed to be BST instead of GMT perhaps?

I changed it to GMT and fudged the time to make it work correctly, not many options on the site to use...lol.

There's nothing different about that playlist except the game modes. Competitive is just a label.

What. I actually assumed it meant ranking, etc. Why would they call it something so commonly associated in other games with the competitive ranking system.

thanks again. that was my first time doing a nightfall. sorry i kept dying and i'm quite quiet on the mic :( i think i might actually join your clan. i'm already in one but so far it's been no use.

Whoops. Should I make an alt of the same class so I can get some of these again?

Guys. I'm at 268 and should be ready for the raid but i haven't done any of the post study missions yet. How do i get the raid mission? Which planet?

So, what the best legendary scout riffle?

I miss my Hung Jury Yr 2.

Just got to 280, so time to spec out a good scout, and figure out what to run in the burn and heavy slots.
I love my Frontier Justice. Couldn't have completed Nightfall last week with time to spare without it. <3
