Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Does anyone have 10 minutes to spare to kill this boss for the last part of the sturm and drang quest?

Solo'd it until the boss and just died after taking him down to a third of his health.

Ps4

Just so you know, you don't have to kill him for the quest. I'm at work or I'd help.

the spores section just seems tedious and not even fun once you figure it out... Hopefully when it's all solved you can fly past this room very quickly.

Gorgon Maze sucked massively the first time blind. This is more mechanically complex but I still don't see it being much of a challenge when optimal paths and orders are understood.
Yeah exactly. For us casuals, give it a few weeks and there will be some killer guides out there.

Yea I'm hoping this turns out similar to the Maze... Quick and easy once learned

I'm was listening to DLC this after and Jeff said something very interesting. Bungie using Lore as story versus actually cultivating a true narrative. I knew something was off, and Jeff hit it right on the nail for me.

Disclaimer, I have yet to play Destiny 2. I played the Beta and completed vanilla Destiny 1. But there was something always off. I'm a sucker for a narrative in a story and Bungie talked about this epic story and i never felt like it was epic in the first. It felt like loosely connected areas with us shooting a ton of enemies for loot. I had a good time with the first but the story was sort of non-existent.

I haven't played 2 yet. My younger brother bought it on live. When I go over next weekend ill attempt to play it. Playing the Destiny 2 demo, you could tell they were going for something grand, yet even in those opening scenes, nothing clicked for me, nothing wowed me at all. It felt like Destiny 1 but prettier and more platforming.

I'm hoping me and Jeff are wrong on this one, but from all the impressions I've gathered, it seems like the story aspect hasn't truly evolved. They've added more cut scenes and dialogue but in the aspect of a engrossing narrative, it looks like they still fall short.

I'm aiming to probably pick up the game myself this holiday but for anyone whose close to beaten it or has beaten it, is there a good story? Cause I couldn't tell you the story behind the first, it was lacking and uninteresting; which is insane because the set up of everything like the traveler should of been epic.

I don't think this is true. While the story may not be engrossing and gripping, it's definitely telling you a story that fits into a larger narrative. As in, there's a beginning, rising action a climax and then a resolution. The issue I can see people having is that to get the "full" experience the game is banking on you playing through all the DLC. The Red Legion story wraps up but there are very, very, very clearly more things that are coming.

The genre of the game limits the narrative IMO. You can't work towards an ultimate ending cause you need a reason to keep bringing in big bads to fuel the content. The only way an ultimate ending makes sense is when Bungie decides it's time to move onto something else as a studio.

Yeah, the stinger after the credits was much more interesting than the entirety of the D2 story in my opinion.

You only have to do like half of the strike. Should be doable solo if you're not having any luck finding someone. I'm at work and on XBL, otherwise I'd gladly help out

The story is decent. A nice space, dumbfun blockbuster feel to it.

The narrative is something else. I think Bungie intentionally has it the way it is and built around it. User-focused based on the user's character narrative all with backing of a rich lore. I don't remember the exact quote, but there are some words at the end of the game credits scene that wrapped up everything nicely about how its the community and the user that forge their own stories.

Overall, i can just say straight-up this story/presentation was much better than D1. Just don't go in expecting a very tight narrative like Uncharted.

I listened as well and mostly agreed with him. He's not entirely wrong, but his premise needs refining as 'story' isn't absent in Destiny 2(or D1 really), it was lousy execution at fault.

Even without the grimoire cards, the first game demanded close attention paid to the orders being barked in your earpiece for appropriate context and justification for why you are murdering aliens and scanning objects. Easy to ignore or just zone out as white noise, its a terrible approach to storytelling and was a crutch to grabbing audience attention.

Destiny 2 introduces a vapid tale that is upfront and center, but poorly written and barely interesting. He is correct that nonsense and jargon culminates much of the writing which can be a real slog for newcomers. There is a story unfolding amidst the rhetoric, but its difficult to care or follow due to once again, poor execution(and more contextual audio-only codec exposition!)

You can help me with rat king later tonight then. We would need another person though. I'm at Final step of doing it under 5 min.

You have to help me with the first few parts first :P I need to do the patrols, public events, etc still.

So do we really think 260 light is appropriate for this raid?

I just hit 261.

So far it seems like it's fine for the first two encounters but possibly not the 3rd. They may be banking on you completing a handful of encounters, getting gear, going back, etc. Granted that's also first impressions so once strats are figured out and refined 260 will definitely be fine I think.

Aight y'all, now that raids are starting time for my usual waiting for PC question:

I wanna be a big, bulky, tank. I love playing that class.

Is lifesteal better than armor in this game? Is there equally effective builds for Titan and Warlock that can serve as the tank, or should I focus on one more than the other?

And to be fair this is an issue of all MMO games.
An MMO plot is less about reaching a conclusion, and more about hinting at future content and plotlines.

Which D2 does a pretty good job with.
The buildup to the Leviathan, the unifying of the Fallen Houses, the mysterious creatures on Titan, the hints of Oryx's sister, and the Dark Pyramid Ships from the ending
all are intriguing ideas for new DLC and expansions.

That and a lot of the enjoyment from these more open kinds of games comes from creating your own emergent story via the setting and scenario the game gives you.

I just hit 271 and I still think I'm too low, would feel safer around 275 or 280 myself.

Speaking of which, I'm finally loving the look of my Warlock: so swish.

After seeing that guy solo prestige nightfall, and having my group (I know we guided but still) getting rekt, I feel all of my deaths catching up with me.

I had nightmares about jumping through rings like some kind of acid tripping space sonic the hedgehog 😭

This game doesn't use classes to determine roles. Everyone is basically a damage dealer with modified delivery and style.

As far as what you should focus on to be more resilient, you can trade off your Mobility stat for Resilience (armor) or Recovery (health recovery delay), and choose a class like Sentinel which can create an invulnerability dome and grant itself overshields on melee kills.

Seriously awesome lock.

I think the last part of the raid or last boss will really show entry level LL as an issue. RoI it was smooth sailing till the last boss phase then DPS was a must for first day.

What if all of the stuff they're doing is what grants them access into the Leviathan? What if the raid hasn't even started yet?

Whoa, that would be crazy, but does make sense, seeing as in pretty much every other raid they would've faced a boss by now. It would actually be pretty awesome I think
