Pop almost verbatim repeated the stupid #WhitePrivlidge arguements on the internet and framed this discussion as a competition where #WhitePeople have to lose their current quality of life.
This is devisive crap. This is a fight for Black people (and other minority groups) across America to be treated with the same dignity and respect that is given freely to its citizens that appear to look Caucasian.
This isn't about (or shouldn't be about) stripping social advantage, but rather raising up those who have previously been disadvantaged by giving those groups the same inherent benefits that being born American should entail.
My dad had an argument with his Trump-voting brother over it yesterday. They were due to go visit them (they live in a nice house in Charleston, SC) in a few weeks, but now mom and dad are reconsidering (but they know if they skip this, then the relationship is over and we'll only ever see them at my cousin's house).

I think that's a horrible litmus test that plays into conservative talking points, to be honest. The military does not own the flag or the anthem, and conservative talking points try very hard to pit this as a question of support for the military so that they can avoid addressing the issue, which is not a game anyone should play along with.
