Gran Turismo Sport Previews

I said they made it clear from the beginning this would be online focused. I don't see how having a campaign detracts from that, seeing as they always had plans to have a campaign in it's current form and style...
No, you said "All PD has said is that this GT will be online focused"

And I gave you at least one quote that seems to indicate that online is only 15% of the experience, which does not seem like an online focused game.

The other quote was playing up all aspects of the game as though they've all been expanded on, which is not true as well and was aimed at showing that this isn't simply an online focused title as well.

BTW, if you look at my posts a few months back, despite absolutely hating this new direction, I gave them credit for sticking to clear messaging since last year's e3 about what exactly the game would consist of (how the campaign will be structured etc). But that all changed after those two interviews over the last couple of months and yes I will not let them go or let others pretend like they don't exist, or say that they have been totally consistent with their messaging now. They haven't. They may have at the beginning, but not anymore.

This thread, man...

Only a few more weeks though!

Did you read my entire post in context? Did you see the post I was referring to? I was not even delving into what you are tbh...It's clear you have something to say on the composition of GTS, but I dont think I was going down that path...

Anyway, it seems that 15% seems to be something you are at odds with, but then some people say the campaign is not even a campaign, so what gives. I don't know how you are taking 15% of online literally though....Online focused means more than what you think it is...I think what Kaz meant by that, is that there will be "say" 150 campaign events total and maybe 20 or so online events running at any one time. I don't think it makes sense to have 500 online events running to make it online focused. Being a part of the FIA, having regular online challenges and tournaments. esports features, proper leaderboards, penalty systems, social media links etc....means anybody with an online connection has a chance to progress in tournaments with some good prize money etc......

I don't see how this is not online focused.. Prior to GTS they had the demos which everyone attempted to qualify in for a chance to hit a real circuit, but they've made a game out of it with an esports pull.. I imagine there will be many tournaments or regular online racing which many will view online on twitch etc.....That's my take on it anyway, so I don't see how that is not online focused, but I guess we shall see the full unveil soon enough and how things unfold in the online space...but I think I have a pretty good idea what PD is attempting to do here...and I don't think the messaging has been muddied.....

I just really think GT has had it's day; awful UI, lengthy load screens, hodgepodge graphics, antiquated structure, terrible sound effects and that laughable pan handle chase cam just scream "out of touch".

awful UI? nah, lengthy load screens? Driveclub is the only racer that has GOOD load times, hodgepodge graphics? lol, antiquated structure? yes IT WAS in 5/6 thats why it changed for sport, terrible sound effects? nah, laughable pan handle chase cam? its customizable

Wait, people don't like the UI in GT games? I absolutely love pretty much all presentation related things in these games. Really on another level over other games in the genre.

And yeah, I liked the varied chase cam settings in the beta.
Yes I did read your post, and the sentence you said was incorrect. I am not refuting that this game is online focused, this game absolutely is. I'm saying that PD themselves are being purposely misleading about the fact now and nobody can say that they are being clear about the actual focus of this entry anymore with recent interviews that were made as a result of the ongoing backlash.

They could've handled the backlash differently and talked about how they think the new direction is the way to go, but rather than do that, they've made extremely misleading statements that are bordering on straight up lies. Actually one of the quotes I posted is a straight up lie due to it saying no features were cut from past games (which is not true due to no dynamic ToD and weather).

So in case you misunderstood my posts, TLDR:
PD has not been entirely straightforward with their messaging in regards to the focus of this game due to recent interviews they have made, and they were really sending out mixed signals about whether this is a spinoff or a mainline entry.

Lol, All I said was that the "game was online focused from inception" you said I'm incorrect but here you are agreeing that this game is online focused, so I guess we'll leave that well alone....

My point to the poster was that GT was announced as an online focused entry and it does not need any other racer's name or affiliation to make that happen. The GT name is much bigger than Iracing, so there's no need for IGT or anything of that sort for people to understand what they're doing here....Yet, I can see there's a point you feel you want to make, but I don't see how it's connected to my post.

Im getting GT sport day 1 but no, he has a point on at least 4 of those. Very valid.

Don't see how. the UI is fantastic (as usual), the career structure is overhauled, the sounds are overhauled and finally are good, the chase cam is customizable.

He appears to be someone who doesn't know anything about the game and just making stuff up.

Yeah, I mean obviously from my posts you can tell I'm really disappointed in how the overall game is turning out, but that post was odd because this game is pretty much making all the changes that person wants.Made me go wtf when reading it.

I gotta say. With PC2 being a little inconsistent and ropey in some aspects (and apparently completely dire for consoles) this game still has the ability to have the crown.

It was PC2s time to strike and to be throroughly honest, it’s an absolute gem, but only on certain tracks and in certain cars.

Forza will undoubtedly sell loads coming off the high of Horizon 3 plus the fact it’s on 2 platforms and not just the Xbox. It will be great for single player, multiplayer has a high chance of being a shitshow.

I’m thinking GTS will be great for solid online racing with a consistent feel, and that’s super important for a racing title. Due to the cut down track and car roster, it will be a honed in experience where there is a familiar handling model which gives the player confidence in a cars ability. That’s what PC2 is missing, it’s a lottery every time you get into a different car.

Also, I think most people’s fears about online racing is unfounded too. When playing PC2 online, everyone seems to be behaving themselves, that’s most probably to do with the rating system.

Honestly, I don't even care if the campaign is a bit light, I just want to know what exactly is locked behind PS Plus. The Japanese box has a label on it that says "Online-only" (オンライン専用) but that seems absurd.

It's because the game is built around online multiplayer. Overwatch and Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 even have this,

Is it me or did they upgraded the Tokyo track? Seems more colorful...
Looks great now.
Depends on your point of reference. I do think there is added color, and compared to the initial reveals last year, it's basically a generational leap in terms of how it looks, or rather multiple generational leaps (some things on the track and in the background looked like they were from PS2 era last year, especially some of the buildings)

There is definitely more noticeable color to me too, but some of the more subtle stuff could simply be due to off-screen discoloring that happens. I did notice new color on some buildings and on the road as well in some section though that I did not see before.

Looking terrific now.

You maybe right. The beta only had the second TOD available.

Not just that. I've played the earliest public build (the GTacademy one) and that track looks straight out of Ridge Racer V. It was better in the beta but not great. Seems it has gotten a further update as well.

Very weird going back and seeing last year's builds. Aside from Brands Hatch -- most of the tracks looked awful. How the fuck were they planning on releasing it last year.

Was that the Copperbox one? Game has definitely moved on from there! haha
