I forgot I had preordered a U.K. version and it shipped today. Will this work fine in the US? Do I need any special hardware? Any USB power source will work right to power it right?

No hardware needed, any USB power source will be sufficient. Congrats on your better looking SNES.
 
Hey guys. I just wanted to give a heads up. I work at a Target in Southern California and my boss said we'd have about 60 SNES Classics available tomorrow. I admittedly work at a bigger Target than usual, but I just wanted to say that supply is much better than the NES. (at least for now lol)


Edit: I worked in electronics during the NES Classic release, so I just wanted to mention that if it's anything like that, still expect a crowd

I know there is no way this will play Star Ocean, but lord knows I hope someone tries.

I'm really interested in what the compatibility looks like on this game once the mods group gets through it. I would love an HDMI way to play all my classic carts. (That's not a retron 5)
 
So whats the concensus on retail tonight/tomorrow?

Gamestop: on sale when they open at 10a?
Target: on sale when they open at 8a?
Walmart: on sale at 12a in 24 hour stores?
Best Buy: on sale when they open at 10a?

Is any store doing a midnight release?

Playing this on my 1440p monitor is probably better than on my 1080p TV due to SNES resolution being 240p, right? That would also take care of cable lengths.

Also what about West Coast stores. Are they being sold 9/29 or is it 9/29 eastern, 9/28 western at 9PM?
 
My Target order shipped and I got a tracking number. My guess is it won't arrive on release day tomorrow, but I'm still excited. Also my Amazon UK order shipped this morning, for delivery on Oct. 13th.

Same. I don't understand how Amazon.JP gets me books,movies, and games in 2 days, but Amazon UK (which is MUCH closer to the East coast of the US) is going to take 2 weeks to get something to PA.

I had mentioned earlier today that I was going to do threads for each of the games as part of a "SNES Classic Club" where we play through the games. I have FF6 scheduled for March 2018. No harm in someone also doing an OT for the games if they think it needs one, although there is a point where too many venues makes the conversation diffuse so it'd probably at least be good if people didn't make new OTs for the games AS the Classic Club played them.

As it relates to FF6, Aeana made a FF 30th anniversary thread earlier this year which had a ton of activity and that seems like the best current place to discuss it, absent someone making a new OT:

Need to get a second as an xmas gift, but got one pre ordered to pick up tomorrow. I have 5 job interviews tomorrow in the morning so I can't get in line early.
 
I might be falling for the hype, but can someone help me out with a question or maybe give a little advise. I'm tempted to get one.

How is the input lag on a modern TV? Given that this is emulated and latency on televisions today how bad is it compared to the real deal and Virtual Console on New 3DS (my current solution) and a PC or Pi (3)? Is, for example (Super) Punch-Out!! and Mario and other platforms that require near perfect jumps and what not playable without crushing kittens and throwing controllers at walls (read: frustrating to the extent of giving up)?

Has anyone loaded up their own ROMs yet and tried those? How was that in regards to the above question(s)? Any comments and feedback by picky GAF retro gaming enthusiasts would be appreciated.
 
Anyone in NYC trying Best Buy Union Square at midnight?

Since they’re already being shipped out, I’m assuming there isn’t a time specific street date on them.
