L/R/Start/Select will soft reset all games and if you own a classic controller for Wii the home button on those will act like the reset switch on the console.

I swear people were disputing that earlier in this thread... Someone said it's game dependent, and another said that never worked in SNES games for him and that it's a Sony console thing.

I had mentioned earlier today that I was going to do threads for each of the games as part of a "SNES Classic Club" where we play through the games. I have FF6 scheduled for March 2018. No harm in someone also doing an OT for the games if they think it needs one, although there is a point where too many venues makes the conversation diffuse so it'd probably at least be good if people didn't make new OTs for the games AS the Classic Club played them.

As it relates to FF6, Aeana made a FF 30th anniversary thread earlier this year which had a ton of activity and that seems like the best current place to discuss it, absent someone making a new OT:

That's great to hear! I never got a chance to play through any SNES games (got into gaming late), so this will be a cool chance to play through them for the first time and share my impressions/thoughts with fellow GAF-ers It will be cool to have old/new players alike playing these games simultaneously.

Ah, we are talking about Soft reset? Gamecube was B+X+Start (not to be confused with X+Y+Start which is analogue stick reset) and might have also been software dependent like the SNES one.

Anyway, GameXplain say the SNES combo actually works in all games on the classic with the caveat you have to hold the buttons down longer than games that natively had the feature.

If it's like the OG 90s version, decent for SFII, trash for everything else. The regular 4 button diamond array works better for most SNES games.

Never preordering from Walmart again. I preordered Pokken since it was like 27% off from their site with in store pick up. The game came out last Friday and they had it readily in stock. I just picked up my copy yesterday. Had to wait for their shipment instead of picking it up in store.

Dang. My 8 year old daughter beat her first entire video game yesterday (Splatoon 2) and I thought that was an accomplishment lol. Pretty sure I never beat any games at 4 years old despite playing them since the age of 2. Hope he likes Super Mario World!

Street Fighter 2 Turbo = the building blocks of brotherly love.. I used to play this on SNES with my two brothers and sure enough rage ensued

such great memories, Mario Kart ballon mode, super bomberman 4 players. rock solid gaming history defining moments by these games

These colour changing borders are kind of hypnotic.

Also, double checked my Club Nintendo SNES controller to compare. The back is different, so it's technically still a unique item to own lol

Just tested it and it does a soft reset of the game.

Game tested was Contra.
