Yeah, that's what I meant. The hardware and software seem pretty similar to the NES classic which worked that way, so here's hoping!
Some people already got the program that was used to hack the nes to work on the and and the guy got it to work the same day he got it all we are waiting on is an update to the program to make it work properly. There is a whole sub reddit dedicated to hacking this thing.

Early indications are that the modding prospects are quite good. Exact same hardware as the NES; people are backing up their kernels successfully -- and then booting them on a NES mini, even!

There is no "brick risk" involved if you backup first, because you can always re-upload your backup. Still, I'll wait for others to be the pioneers and for a SNES-aware version of hakchi2 before diving into that. clusterm/madmonkey confirms they're working on it in that thread too (asking people who have theirs to send NAND-B dumps).

Anyway, pleeeenty of fun to be had with the stock version. r/miniSNESmods for the geeks like me who have gotta know the latest.

I'M SO MAD!!!!

I just finished
the first dungeon in the Dark World
in Zelda and I went to go do the treasure chest minigame, went to make a suspend point and accidentally loaded a suspend point I made before the boss in
The Tower
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I need to figure out how this suspend system works it seems :(

So are you able to pick it up later in the day? I hope in the morning they'd have separate lines for pre-orders and walk-ins.

I'll hit walmart, locally, at 6am (they open at 7am). Get done there, grab my kids, take them to school. I'll go straight to the Gamestop I pre'd at, an hour away from home, and hopefully they'll have it sorted for store launch/pre-orders. They don't open till 10am, so I'll be there a couple hours early.

According to brickseek, my local 24 hour Walmart only has 40 systems. I tried to call them to see if they would definitely be on sale at midnight and if they would be handing out tickets or just making a line or something but... nobody answers the phone there. I might just waltz in there at 11pm and see what's going on.

No one ever answers the phone at Walmart

Looks like my local walmart has 30, unknown number at target, bestbuy etc. Will check a few after I drop the kiddo off tomorrow, if I get one, so be it. If they have two, i'll get that many, as it woudl make a great christmas gift for my sister, as that was her favorite period in gaming.

This is baffling to me. The average around me is 30 for Walmart, unknown at target. If my Walmart was getting 90+ I'd feel pretty confident on getting one. 30 is making me nervous. I live in a busy area too.

Yeah same here. Oh well, I'm not willing to wait in lines for this so I'll just see how lucky I get tonight/tomorrow

I'm sure most will, but that won't stop people from bringing family and friends and going from store to store as they open.
I like the the Nintendo Store in NYC is only doing CC/Debt purchases and checking IDs as it seems this is how they're keeping track of the one per person restriction.

Also, double checked my Club Nintendo SNES controller to compare. The back is different, so it's technically still a unique item to own lol

phew, feels good to have the super unique club nintendo snes controller, it's hard being this cool but somebody has to do it.

Got the call from GameStop to pick up my SNES tomorrow, or else I'll lose it.

Checked the Wal-Mart brickseek, and one of mine show 78. Wow! Closest to mine shows 49. I didn't expect that many.

Was just at a Walmart that apparently gave out their tickets YESTERDAY afternoon. I was pissed. Took a chance and went to a nearby Walmart that only got 15 according to brickseek. I'm 10th in line so I should be good to go!

Even though I play Super Metroid multiple times on pretty much all my capable devices, it's going to be the first game I play tomorrow when I get my mini.

:)
This is the correct game to play first.

Brofist.

I finished it a month ago on a Flight but I played an hour or so first when I turned it on tonight.

Also waited till ridley Steals the larva, and you start in crateria. Save the game. Reload, copy my 0:01 minute progress to slot 3 so I can skip the intro during my inevitable 6000 playthroughs I'll do :P

Im gonna have to be careful playing tonight so I dont miss work tomorrow. >_<

I still haven't figured out which game I want to play first. Hahaha

Was planning to head to one of two 24 hour Walmarts for 10 pm, so just called to double check they're selling at midnight. Apparently the line is already full and people started lining up around 5 pm, and the other 24 hour Walmart is sold out of tickets. Turns out this thing is popular.

I'll try some places in the morning. Definitely glad I called ahead.

Anyone in the Ann Arbor area trying to get one of these babies tonight? I'm thinking of hitting one of the Walmarts or Meijers in the area, but being a college town, idk how good the odds are considering there's probably people already lined up since way earlier.

Fuck lol

Walmart, on the phone with me at 1 PM today: "Yes, we'll begin selling them at 12 tonight! You'll wanna come early, we're getting lots of calls."

Walmart, in person with me at 9 PM: "O-oh. Our shipment never came in. We're not selling them tonight"

:/ :/ :/

Called the other 24 hour ones in the area, and same story at all of them. Fuck.

Going to Best Buy Union Square NYC right now. Open 24 hours, so they should be selling at midnight. Heard tickets were already distributed, but in close enough to check.

3 hours to go. Lines at Best Buy and Walmart are over 20

Got to my Walmart at 9pm and was 21st in line. They only have 25. Now they're turning people away.

You're scaring me guys... My wife doesn't get home till 11:30pm and I was planning on trying a few walmarts then ultimately parking at target at 6am... Now I'm starting to think I need to give up on even trying them and heading straight to Target at midnight...

I show up at Meijer at 6, find out Im the first one and they got 18 in. Leave and come back at 8:30, same story. Come back at 9:30 and fourth in line. Not bad, much less busy than the Switch launch.

Some stores won't bring out merchandise until the electronics manager arrives to check it off. When the switch came out my friend tried to get a switch at 6am right when the opened but had to wait until 8am for the manager to come in. An employee told me they do it that way for every new release. I've also heard other people online experience the same thing.

There's a 24 hour Best Buy o.o
Tons of people have been hitting me up about how to get one. I guess that's because I am in the know. I didn't even get one ordered at Best Buy. One from target and one from Wal-Mart. Who knows when they will be here?

aaand at that point I'll be going to work for some serious flex pay. I hope that doesn't happen to me. Walmart in DC dont fail me.

For those wondering, I arrived at my local walmart at 8:15pm local time and am number 15 in line out of 45 they are getting. My buddy across town got to his at 7:15 and was numer 35 out of 72 they were getting. Yes, 72.

So check brick seek and hit your local 24hr walmart asap. If you talk nicely to the manager you can get them to start a ticket system, allowing everyone to get a ticket of their place in line and come back at midnight. Took me 30mins to convince the manager here to do it. Had her ask the other walmart across town where they are doing it where my buddy went. Hurray no standing here for 3 hours! (they wont let you sit down here due to fire code)

PS - I am in San Antonio

So uh, is there a midnight release at any stores for this?

See above.

A friend who works at Gamestop was able to pull through for me last second and get one for me for tomorrow. Good luck to those of you still looking. I will say she said that they received quite a bit more than anticipated.

Your friend isnt supposed to do that I dont think. Gamestops preorders were sold out. Je basically is "holding" one of the first come first serve ones for you. That's messed up considering some of us made the effort to go out to 24hr stores or fight scalpers with macros.

So should I be waking up for that 7am Walmart opening time or should I give up? Lol you guys are scaring me

Get there 3 hours or more before opening or pray...
