So it's probably best I didn't wait until Target opens at 9... because it turns out they open at 8. Has it always been like that? Anyway...
I walk into the store around 8:35. No one lined up anywhere, no masses of people leaving with a prominent box, and brickseek is reporting 90 units available, so I'm feeling pretty stoked. And as I stroll past the registers, a voice comes over the PA:
"We are releasing all holds on the Nintendo Classic. First come, first serve at electronics."
I hasten to an "excited, but try not to look to excited, you're a grown man for God's sake" pace. I stroll up to electronics and see a cluster of employees and no one else. There's a cart marked "SNES Classic" that is completely empty. I stroll over to the counter, nervous now. The lady looks over and says, oh, you'll need one of these, and hands me a ticket.
81.
81 out of 90.
So, yeah, I got one of the last 10 available. And there were 4 other people lined up behind me when I got rang up. If I had waited til 9, I would've been shit outta luck. Instead, I'm coasting on cloud nine, because I've got an SNES Classic BOOOOOYYY! Turns out that big cluster of employees were all buying themselves one too because they weren't allowed to until a certain amount of time had passed. Great timing on my part.
