I cannot believe some of you are so chilled that amazon are literally putting all your pre-orders in treasure trucks.
I would be going nuts. They should at least send peoples pre-orders first before doing this.

I don’t think any of us who pre-ordered on amazon are chilled. I’m pissed about it and it really makes me doubt using them going forward. If they at least kept shipping times updated or any type of communication, they would get some slack. Their pre-orders were all types of fucked up from the start though.

So it's probably best I didn't wait until Target opens at 9... because it turns out they open at 8. Has it always been like that? Anyway...

I walk into the store around 8:35. No one lined up anywhere, no masses of people leaving with a prominent box, and brickseek is reporting 90 units available, so I'm feeling pretty stoked. And as I stroll past the registers, a voice comes over the PA:

"We are releasing all holds on the Nintendo Classic. First come, first serve at electronics."

I hasten to an "excited, but try not to look to excited, you're a grown man for God's sake" pace. I stroll up to electronics and see a cluster of employees and no one else. There's a cart marked "SNES Classic" that is completely empty. I stroll over to the counter, nervous now. The lady looks over and says, oh, you'll need one of these, and hands me a ticket.

81.

81 out of 90.

So, yeah, I got one of the last 10 available. And there were 4 other people lined up behind me when I got rang up. If I had waited til 9, I would've been shit outta luck. Instead, I'm coasting on cloud nine, because I've got an SNES Classic BOOOOOYYY! Turns out that big cluster of employees were all buying themselves one too because they weren't allowed to until a certain amount of time had passed. Great timing on my part.

Walmart...pls...

Don't worry, they'll send you a "Backordered - Out of Stock" email soon enough.

I'm jealous of these OG SNES I'm seeing that aren't yellow like mine.
I've been blessed to have it in such good condition still lol. Those two scuff marks come off real easy.
Did you play with the switches on it yet? First thing I did was try to put my fingers in the cart insert panel, only to be disappointed it's a solid piece. :(:(:(

Put your ear up to the Rest switch, and flick it up, sounds similar to the OG model the way the spring gets depressed and releases :)

YES!! I had to check ! lol.

Also..

Here are my two babies, playing...

I'm like 100% sure that once I leave work at 6:00 they will be sold out everywhere.

Why they choose to release shit on a week day is beyond me.

Currently headed to the treasure truck at midtown. Not sure what kind of stock they have but pick up is available from now 12pm to 8pm.

Amazon app does not work for treasure truck. I keep putting the treasure truck in Miami, it asks me for my password and I get a "sorry something went wrong message" every time.

EDIT: got it. That seemed too easy... I fear the truck will be on fire by the time I get there.

Nah I'm freaking PO'd. This should not be happening.

Trying to find the best way to complain about this.

Amazon pulled the same nonsense throughout the entirety of the NES classic lifespan. All restocks went to Prime Now, Amazon Book retail stores, Treasure Trucks.. IIRC they only ever sold it on their regular online store just the one time that sold out in seconds.

Order made for NYC Treasure Truck. Am I guaranteed one as long as I have an order and get there before 8? Or is it entirely first-come-first-serve even with my order placed? Never done one of these treasure truck things before.

Oh, my... Easiest Nintendo purchase ever. Was dropping my son off at school today and the Amazon Treasure Truck notification popped up on my phone. Clicked and purchased. Available for pickup before 8 tonight. I'm psyched. Didn't even plan on getting one yet.

Got a Treasure Truck order in for Orlando. Wasn't really planning on ordering one today, but I couldn't resist when I got the text.

Same here. I gave up and decided to wait it out or just not get it, but I ended up caving when I saw the text. By the time my daughter is a couple years older, she will enjoy the hell out of it. (I will be enjoying it now. I need earthbound on every system ever).

So what's the first game people are playing?

SF2 turbo for me. All these years later and I still have trouble with the Dragon Punch going left. Having a blast with it and it's simplicity.

Pretty funny story picking mine up.

There was a bunch of firefighters that ran into the store in full gear and the target employees thought there was an emergency going on and people in line start looking around as everyone's confused.

The firefighters all just ended up getting tickets and waiting in line with the rest of us to get their SNES Minis.

I believe they are locked under a limit. Get there by the time it leaves and you should be set!

Was on Bestbuy.ca, I literally added to my cart like two seconds after it went up and verified by visa wouldn't let it ship

mother fucker

So... I ordered within seconds of Amazon putting up the original SNES listing... and rather than deliver my order they are putting what stock they have on treasure trucks?

I can't understand it.

I agree that it is frustrating. But the Treasure Truck is straight promotion for Amazon. Giving more "value" for Prime and the spectacle of the truck itself gets people excited about Amazon. People walk by, find out that you need to have Prime to participate in the truck in the future, they go sign up to Prime. Atleast that is the idea behind it. The cold truth is they have your money already. They are trying to get more.

So far all of us here are pissed and thinking of other ways to get it. I'm gonna contact them when I get home later. So far they've already put me on one day delivery and knocked 10 bucks off my purchase. I'm going to get as much knocked off the price as I can for this.

Lol priorities

If I had pre-ordered from Amazon, and that shit was done, I'd cancel the order, and cancel Prime, and wouldn't deal with them again. That's some shady crap.

Grabbed one from the treasure truck in Tampa. Glad I don't have to keep refreshing websites all day today

It is some bullshit that Amazon held stock for these trucks instead of honoring preorders. Looks like they really wanted to promote the truck idea to the masses.

Wasn't even gonna get one with the hassle but Amazon's treasure truck has the SNES so a friend and I are getting one after all. Thanks Amazon 👍 I live in San Diego if someone in the area is looking for one Amazon's treasure truck might still be available.

Yeah. They did the same thing with the NES Classic long after they were sold out. It's kind of lame but I guess this is how Amazon loves to promote their new features.

Not really. The inventory for treasure truck is effectively separate, however Amazon communication on this and the original nes mini has been disgraceful. Seems to be friction between them and Nintendo.

Anyone know if you can pick up someone else's treasure from TT? Friend of mine lives closer and is getting himself one. If you have the QR code they should honor it, right?

I’d like to know this too since the Seattle pick up location is about the most inconvenient place in town...

When I picked up my NES Classic from the Treasure Truck they did not check my ID, just scanned the QR code. No guarantee though they could have changed it

Target shipped mine yesterday, says arriving sometime between today and October 10th. I'm looking forward to it! I really want to play FFVI for the first time, and replay SMW and others. I'm excited.

Not really sure how they could justify people’s orders not being shipped but being available day and date on the treasure truck.
