I know we're all having a blast picking up our SNES Classics (for better or worse), but are there any good resources that detail any emulation issues with the games? I know there was some talk about Yoshi's Island having a pared-down effect with one of the baddies.

How's FFVI? If I remember correctly, we've never had a re-release cartridge-perfect port.

I can't believe some of you are just walking in after they open and getting one lol

Why is it that surprising? We knew there would be vastly more stock than the NES classic, and that a whole bunch of stores were getting like 100 or more of them.

Treasure Truck get, for me.

Yay Treasure Truck Dallas. I was not even planning on putting in the effort to get one if it was in short supply, but then I got the text!

I'm at work with limited time to skim the thread, so looking for a quick recap with the Treasure Truck / pre-order situation.

Do we know that Amazon is allocating pre-order stock to Treasure Trucks instead of fulfilling pre-orders first?

If so, that is pretty damn low.

I mean, I think all we know is that Amazon is having trouble fulfilling preorders while also selling units from the trucks.

We don't know why that's the case behind the scenes. I doubt it's as simple as "eh, let's not fulfill some of them so we have truck stock". It just isn't a good look regardless.

I got mine at midnight last night but it's still boxed up. I'm giving it to my daughter when she gets home from school as a surprise. She loved our NES classic I'm sure she's in for a treat.

I just ordered one off a Treasure Truck here in Chicago in the Amazon app. I guess I'll have two of these consoles now, but I'll just only open one up.

Thanks for the info. Well, hope you all end up happy with one sooner rather than later.

How old? I'm either giving to my daughter (15) or nephew (8) as a Christmas present.

Oh cool, I just got one through a treasure truck. It says it'll be available from 12-8. Does that mean that the truck will be at that spot from that time? Or does it randomly show up and i have to be there?

Do you mean American FFIII?

Because FFIV aka American FFII is not on the SNES classic.

Got one from the Treasure Truck in ATL, will pick it up on the way home from work.

Just cancelled my walmart preorder and would've cancelled my amazon uk order but its already on the way. Will probably just sell the UK one or give it to my brother for Xmas.

Ugh the Treasure Truck in Boston is a pain in the ass to get to.

Yeah, I was just looking at that on a whim now.

I'm about to go pick up my GameStop preorder but there's been no update on my Walmart preorder, which is my mom's Christmas present, so I was wondering if it'd be easy to go grab one from there for her. But it seems like beyond catching a train into the city I'd have to mess with Silver Line and it's probably not worth the hassle.

If I hadn't taken the day off (and so would already be in the city... though actually we work from home on Fridays so never mind), I'd probably have gone for it, though.

It will be there from the hours of 12-8.

It will Be parked there that whole time.

Thinking about driving there to pick it up but then I realized the parking situation in the Seaport area.

The walk from State St isn't bad.

just checked here that Amazon was selling on the Treasure Truck. the app says Los Angeles location is sold out. hope i get lucky and find one after work

In retrospect I should have held out for the treasure truck in LA, instead of doing the midnight Walmart release. I really didn’t think they would sell them on the truck on launch day due to all the pre-orders.

Sorry to those who are having issues with Amazon.

Had my first go on it. Some nice options, nice UI. Controller takes some getting used to and using a dpad to navigate again. Had a quick go of Yoshi and Mario RPG too.

A huge oversight is not being able to get back to the home screen on the controller. And of course ridiculously short cables. This actually makes the experience a bit frustrating especially in this day and age. It’s a negative that could have been easily fixed and if Nintendo didn’t cheap out.

Other than that it’s a Snes in a teeny tiny box and a neat little package, marred by cool features that are held back by a silly decision not to be able to easily revert to the home menu.

Sounds like the authentic SNES experience to me

Best Buy is pulling some shady stuff, lol.

As I posted earlier, the box for my SNES was cut open by a box cutter. I knew I'd probably strike out but I called the store. They didn't answer the phone so it transferred me to the main customer service center. I explained what happened and the operator was so rude and dismissive, I got pissed and said I wanted to complain. I fully expected them to say they didn't have them and I'd have to check back to exchange, but she was incredibly rude and insulting. So after saying I want to complain, she connects me with the store manager somehow. He asks if I can get there today, and I say I'll be there in 10 minutes. I go in and he gets me one from the back, like it was nothing.

I normally would have thought that they were keeping some for cases like mine, but they weren't because they initially said they had none. Then as I'm waiting, I see some guy come in and whisper sweet nothings into a girls ear. She goes in back, and comes out with a bag all secretive, and just hands it off to him. I mean it's possible that she bought it for him or something, but man, it just looked off.

tl;dr: Customer service said store didn't have them. Cool manager got me one. Best Buy potentially not selling all units.

A Target in Dallas got close to 100 units, 40 people in line before open. They gave us a limit of 2. I was surprised but bought both. This was 100 times better than the NES Classic launch/released window.

If it is anything like the NES, you will be able to drop a patch on it for a button combo reset to home. Hakchi sounds like it is almost certainly going to be patched over.

I haven't pre-ordered anything(Canada), but I'm hoping there will still be some left around around 3pm when i go to Best Buy, Walmart or EB Games in the shopping mall where they're all located.

Edit : How long are the controller cables?

Instantly sold out all around me. I mean, people waiting in line since yesterday. And most stores got around 40 average, which makes it hard to just walk in and get one. And yea, there's more stock than the nes, but probably not much more. I'm sure more people got turned away than those that walked away with one.
