+1 for preference on the US model. But I’m in the states so that’s where my nostalgia is. Thankfully my classic NES extension cables worked because those cables are still short as shit.

I went to Best Buy in Northgate, Seattle around 10AM this morning. There were probably 100+ people in line but everyone was given a ticket and got one.

When I walked in around 10AM they still had a few more tickets to give out, and by the time I got to the front of the line there were another 50+ people behind me - but many of them could have picked up a ticket earlier.

Meanwhile, the Target right next to the Best Buy was out of stock hours earlier.

Point is - seems like stock levels are far higher this time around than with the NES Classic! Hopefully they re-stock a lot too throughout the next many months. I hope the value drops like a rock for scalpers.

Agreed. The overseas models look like a white noise machine or humidifier or something.

Thx, didn't know those existed. Might order them.

Still don't understand why the cables are so short though? Does Nintendo really think people sit 4.5 ft away from their TV?

It's because in the end, they're still just plugs that go into a Wiimote, which is wireless itself, so length is of no concern.

Yeah, I know.

A fucking Amazon rep gave me November 13 as the delivery date estimate for my order

then told me to either accept that or he'd get the order cancelled for me

what the fuck

Eh ... worse case scenario, scalpers sell it for what they paid for. Value will skyrocket again once they end production next year.

Damn. Hope you can find one elsewhere sooner.

I wonder why people get extension cables for the controllers instead of getting longer cables for the HDMI since you use the reset button so often.

Lmao, not a bad idea.

I've already got it as far from the TV as I can just sitting in the middle of the living room. Pretty sure this was the same way I played GameCube games.

That amazon response makes me worry for restocks going forward.

I know Target has been telling people they restock on Friday, but Target is also likely holding back stock to encourage people to come into the store again.

As someone who has minimal nostalgia for the SNES and NES. The NES went into storage almost immediately but this. This console has legitimately good games. Not just nostalgic games or important games. Good games.

There is no risk. For the USB charging standard there is what is called a "classification" resistor on the board that tells the charger what the maximum current/power the device needs. Zero risk at all.

Looks like I'm probably wrong. I thought the Samsung fast chargers pushed some extra voltage or the like. Maybe I'm thinking of the earlier ones. I only found anecdotal evidence of fast chargers wreaking havoc.

Hakchi2.

Down + Select.
I can't wait. I did have to substitute a longer HDMI anyway since the one included is pretty short. Nintendo loves their short cords.

Is there really no way to fast forward in this thing? I thought this device would be my definitive SNES RPG machine, but that's kind of a dealbreaker.

Jesus, was Star Fox considered good at the time? This game feels borderline unplayable.

It's janky as hell but I've been playing it a lot recently between the lead up to the SNES Classic and now, and I still enjoy it. I'd be interested to hear if anyone trying it for the first time likes it, or if it's all up to nostalgia now.

(It's also one of the few games I think I've actually gotten better at as I get older :P )
