Hard to believe, but I had a pleasant experience buying my SNES at Walmart today. Got there around 4AM, ninth person in line. Brickseek reported 37 units at this Walmart, so I was in like Flynn.

Anyways, had some great conversations with the other people in line, and when the doors finally opened at 6AM, everyone walked in the store in a very civil manner. All those horror videos of Black Friday created an expectation of some bad shit, but nope. Everyone was cool as hell. The Walmart staff has the SNES's ready at the register, and I was in and out.

It's such a mindfuck, staring at this mini SNES, which is sitting on my TV stand shelf, between my PS4 pro and Xbox One.

Very surprised. My Euro SNES was delivered today from FNAC. The good: so cool seeing these games again. The bad: they look horrible on a 65" OLED.

Star fox 2 is ... interesting.

I'm in the States, BTW.

Meanwhile at Amazon.com...

I put my opinion in the other thread but checking every day to see the same status is disheartening... :(...

I've had nothing but great experiences at Nintendo launches. When I got my Majora's Mask 3ds XL, I was at a Target and terrified of the same thing. I even had a buddy with me who was ready to go down fighting if anything cropped up, but no, very civil, very relaxed walking back as this group of 20 or so people simply let us 5 get our MM 3DS'.

Don't have much to add to the thread except...

HOLY FUCKING SHIT, these games are hard.

Super Ghouls and Ghosts and Contra are just plain sadistic. And yes, I played and beat both of these 24 or so years ago, multiple times even. We as gamers today are just so spoiled by cushy difficulty settings and 4k landscapes. How the hell did I find a lot of this stuff fun back then? Lol

It's the only thing we knew back in the day, it was expected.

Just picked up from Treasure Truck NYC. Was a lifesaver because today was insane at work and I was just barely able to make it downtown. The assumption is if you're not there day 1 this thing is gonna be sucked off store shelves nonstop throughout the holidays.

I notice a small indentation on the box, I guess from shipping, and no plastic sticker over the box flap... Normal?

Mine also came from the NYC truck. No plastic over the flap. Not like people were using it beforehand.

No plastic on mine or my Switch from a few weeks either. Seems normal.

Seizure filter super confirmed, the static fuzz intro to Earthbound just turns into a fudgy blur fest.

Save me hackchii

I read an article that said these have basically the same guts that the NES classic has under the hood. So for anyone familiar with hacking of the NES classic, can it emulate SNES games already? And my next question, will this be able to play the regular NES library as well once hacked? Anyone know if NES classic can play turbo graphics 16 games?

Right? The instruction manual says to unplug when not in use.
I'm pretty sure every electronic instruction manual ever says that. No one actually does it though.

Look at the title of the thread you are in.

Yes to all of the above.

Can somebody compare the shell of the snes classic and the NES classic ? I was wondering if I can buy a NES classic case , that is already in stock and much cheaper, and use for the snes

Anybody ?

Wife tried for me today. She went to a target with 33 listed. She was told they were sold out, no big deal.

When she got home and 2 hours passed she watched a news report that showed the target she just left had snes’s In stock. She went right back to the store and they were gone again.

Congrats to those who received one, someone play Contra for me.

So has anyone been cataloging any visual differences from the original games? The Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy thing from Yoshi's Island was covered in another topic, but I was watching the SMRPG intro and noticed a couple leftovers from the VC version (muted spell effects and the weird darkened ground for Moleville). I think I also heard there was one for Contra 3, but I've only just played it for the first time so I wouldn't know.

Personally, I'd rather they not do this barring the eye-blinding torchlight from that one DKC level (that was changed for the VC version, right?), but I'm just glad there's none of that dark filter nonsense plaguing Kirby Super Star. <3

My tiny review here: This is a cool little console - but at the end of the day, it's a SNES.

Don't get me wrong! That's awesome - the SNES was my first console and playing this thing brings back a ton of memories. The console itself looks great, although the controller port cover feels kind of janky - I'm afraid to remove and replace it because it feels like it'll break.

The games are amazing, as you would expect. But the thing I couldn't get out of the back of my mind was that I've played all these games before and there's nothing really new about this release (aside from Star Fox 2). I ended up selling mine on Craigslist and will stick to other means of playing these games for now.

I wouldn't suggest paying more than retail for this. Every indication is that they'll be widely available after today.

I just tried to fit the SNES in my NES case and can confirm it will NOT fit. The SNES and the controllers are both too big. I think the brand is like RSD or something?

I think Target may be holding stock for sunday.

I don't know why, but it surprised me just how tiny this thing is.

I'm glad the CRT mode on it doesn't simulate the waviness of composite video like the NES one did. It actually looks pretty decent.

Just like the NES classic, people will play today/ the weekend and then some will put it away in the closet.

Need to play more donkey Kong and hopefully it gets hacked soon so I can get DKC 2,3

Also mortal kombat
