My tiny review here: This is a cool little console - but at the end of the day, it's a SNES.
I'm pretty sure every electronic instruction manual ever says that. No one actually does it though.
It's so adorable.I don't know why, but it surprised me just how tiny this thing is.
I'm glad the CRT mode on it doesn't simulate the waviness of composite video like the NES one did. It actually looks pretty decent.

Don't get me wrong! That's awesome - the SNES was my first console and playing this thing brings back a ton of memories. The console itself looks great, although the controller port cover feels kind of janky - I'm afraid to remove and replace it because it feels like it'll break.
The games are amazing, as you would expect. But the thing I couldn't get out of the back of my mind was that I've played all these games before and there's nothing really new about this release (aside from Star Fox 2). I ended up selling mine on Craigslist and will stick to other means of playing these games for now.
I wouldn't suggest paying more than retail for this. Every indication is that they'll be widely available after today.
I don't think so. You need Wii-compatible controllers.
I just tried to fit the SNES in my NES case and can confirm it will NOT fit. The SNES and the controllers are both too big. I think the brand is like RSD or something?
So I've searched some of this thread trying to figure out the best mode/setting to play these on (Pixel Perfect, 4:3, CRT). Is there any consensus as to what is best? Or will it vary game to game or person to person?
I personally prefer pixel perfect. Squares and circles will actually be squares and circles. So I've searched some of this thread trying to figure out the best mode/setting to play these on (Pixel Perfect, 4:3, CRT). Isn't that incorrect? The designers factored in the fact that pixels weren't perfect squares in their art. I thought circles in "pixel perfect" would look squashed horizontally.
Same here. Im slightly dumbfounded, figured it was a lost cause. My Walmart order just shipped, let's pray it gets here by the 2nd!
Except they're not. Chrono Trigger is a great example of the moon being made very specifically for the wider aspect ratio. It would be oval in Pixel Perfect mode.I personally prefer pixel perfect. Squares and circles will actually be squares and circles.
Holy shit so did mine!Same here. Im slightly dumbfounded, figured it was a lost cause.
Seat getting it later in evening. It was a cluster earlier today. I went during lunch break and it was crowdedJust picked mine up from the Amazon Treasure Truck in Austin. I could get used to this treasure truck business.

No, they didn't factor it in for 99% of them. Just test it yourself. Very easy to see that Samus ball is an oval in 4:3, and mario ? blocks are rectangles.Isn't that incorrect? Congrats you found the one game in the snes library it doesn't apply to, but it is not on the snes classic.Except they're not. Chrono Trigger is a great example of the moon being made very specifically for the wider aspect ratio. It would be oval in Pixel Perfect mode.

Sounds like freedom to meI didnt preorder so I went to stores trying to get one.
Ended up with a Switch and BOTW instead.
I didnt want to go home empty-handed.
What is wrong with me?
I'm more curious how that math adds up to 23 units lol

I'm skeptical. All I know is pixel perfect was "wrong" on the NES Classic and looks weird on my emulators.
Maybe if we ignore stuff like Mortal Kombat and some of the artwork in Super Metroid. Nintendo themselves were inconsistent with this. Either mode is just fine from an aspect ratio speaking.Congrats you found the one game in the snes library it doesn't apply to, but it is not on the snes classic.
