People mad about scalpers are funny, if they wanted a console so bad why didn't they try to go to a store and buy one? Every store had stock upon opening. This was the most stocked Nintendo launch ever.

If I had to guess I'd say it's jealousy.

Youre a terrible person.

Not only have people in the US had their preorders cancelled but they went up at ridiculous times as well.

Yes stores got more stock but it STILL isnt enough.

I mean, if the console is that important though, they could have gone online, taken the time to get to a store, etc, that’s what everyone else who got one did. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

I would ask you to again empathise with those who have a disability and/or who weren't able to dedicate their morning to going around every electronics seller in town because they weren't lucky enough to be online when pre-orders opened but I have the feeling this conversation is a waste of time. You're really obnoxious.

I don't know the technicalities but it's good -- it's damn good. As a matter of fact, it doesn't even feel like an emulator when I play. Maybe holding the real controller has something to do with it but blasting through MMX at the 60hz refresh rate feels blazing fast and responsive with 0 input lag you get from any other emulation type Ive used, including VC. No exaggerating, it feels totally different.

Slowdown present in the original games is present here but doesnt detract from the mindblowing insane responsiveness Im feeling.

I wrote off getting an SNES classic this summer because I didnt think Id find one so I settled on using my home theater pc as a substitute in my own mind of sorts and let me tell you, its not even in the same ballpark... Not even close. Its like getting a "new" SNES that displays in HD. Just try it.

It'll probably be a bit better and a bit less laggy. Retroarch/snes9x is one of the laggier emulators on Retropie from my experience. And snes9x core isn't the accurate-est of emus.

Someone with the hardeare to test will probably test at some point.

Scalper bitching will never not be funny. Yes, instead of blaming the companies who can easily stop scalping. Continue blaming people who take advantage of their incompetence

Man, I forgot how ass controllers were before PS1. It's even worse now because my hands are no longer child size. Gimmie that 8bitdo receiver so I can use some well-designed controllers.

I did pre order. My SNES was stolen off my porch. The fuckos who bought 20 of these things are the bane of my existence right now. That would not have happened to me without the scalpers. You have no point here.

It’s almost like some people have to go to work or take care of kids and stuff.

I wish the new 8bitdo controllers were coming out earlier. I wanted one for Mario Odyssey. Gotta wait till December.

Scalpers suck, and since there'll always be people buying from them (sadly), there'll always be scalpers. Both are a problem that will not be solved.

The SNES controller is still a tolerable size for large hands, barring sausage fingers.

I’m a terrible person? People were walking up to the store when they opened and were able to get in line and walk out with a SNES with a 20 minute wait. I’m not saying scalping is the greatest thing to do, but at a certain point it’s about the effort needed to get off your chair and go to a store if you want something bad enough. If you can’t do that you have to wait a few weeks. I don’t see what the big deal is. These are games that are easily playable a hundred ways that have been available for years, and they’re making more.

I do empathize with them, but they will get their console at MSRP, and waiting a week or two shouldn’t be a huge deal. Patience.

Kind of a random happenstance? Someone randomly stole your package but that’s the scalpers fault somehow? I don’t get your logic.

Here's some suggestions:

#1: Don't go for Mandril next. The ice power beats him, but his stage is incredibly hard unless...

#2: You beat Storm Eagle's stage. His level is easier and he's not hard to beat with a blaster. Plus, you can get a health upgrade and an energy tank in his level very easily. And the helmet upgrade which lets you get access to other secrets. Once you beat this level, it also 'crashes' into Mandril's stage making it a LOT easier.

#3: Don't be afraid to play out of order. In fact, if you're new to MMX, it's HIGHLY recommended just so you can collect the various health and other upgrades. Don't be afraid to use a guide if you don't have the time, but if you DO, just explore the levels a bit and you'll find them on your own.

Thank you very much for the advices. :)

Really, you don't? I suppose you think it was stolen by a homeless person who wanted to provide Super Metroid to his starving family? And that I should just be stuck without one for weeks even though I pre-ordered because people out there are creating artificial scarcity and trying to profit off of it and "that's the free market?" Please, just stop talking to me. I just got my shit jacked after looking forward to this for months. I'm not in the mood to entertain your nonsense arguments.

Is anyone else having sound issues with the Mario games? Everything else seems to work fine, but the audio on super Mario cuts out frequently and for long durations. I've read that this was an issue with the NES classic Mario games as well, and the root of the issue was determined to be using a sound bar instead of the TV speakers. Well, it goes without saying that I don't want to use the TV speakers, because they suck. Anyone got a solution for the sound bug while using a sound bar connected through an optic cable?

I'm partial to the theater curtains myself. But yeah, the CRT filter is spot on.

Which irks me a bit when Luigi turns it off in the auto demo mode. :D

curtains have to be this or no sale

I can't tell whether you're a scalper or a delusional Nintendo fan.

BTW, I got one yesterday morning, so not "jealousy."

When Best Buy, Amazon, Gamestop, and Walmart had their preorders up on the site there was plenty of stock; to the point where multiple members on GAF were wondering if this was a general non limited edition item release.

And I never said people were jealous, I was just agreeing with that other posters statement that it wasn’t difficulty to obtain one.

Just played the bad parent card and stuck my 3 year old in front of YouTube for half an hour to get some time with this. Just a bit of Mario, Punch Out (never played it), Megaman and Metroid and as soon as I turned the damned thing on I was transported back 23 years to spending all my time playing breath of fire instead of studying for my GCSEs.

As soon as my wife gets back from work She’s 100% on babysitting duty, cant wait to get back to Metroid.

This is the best £70 I’ve spent in bloody ages.

Looking at those manuals... I'm seriously amazed at how much work they went into that aspect as well. They even cleaned up images that sprawled multiple pages (no crease lines, or staples). Again, FF3's manual looks pristine and the artwork beautiful as ever.

Use this as an opportunity to get your kid into gaming. Set them up on Luigi, teach them the controls, teach them about taking turns, etc. Chances are they'll get bored or frustrated pretty quickly and just want to watch you anyways... but you get to share your hobby and maybe spark a desire within them :)

That wasn't my experience. It seemed like they filled up in hours to me, to the point where I gave up and said "either I can get one in store or fuck this." Maybe I needed Slickdeals/Wario64 alerts on or something.

A lot of these preorders aren't even being fulfilled anyway.

Haha what?
Those preorder windows could be measured in minutes if not seconds. Not to mention a number of them were open at ridiculous times that no reasonable person could prepare for.

By the way, I was there for every one of those. I still didn't get a preorder.

Get this bullshit out of here.

I just had a look. Its incredibly nice to have such clean manuals.

Usually this happens whenever there’s a period of complete silence even for a short time. Some sound bars/receiver then shut down their internals and wait for sound to resume. Unfortunately they’re often very slow at recovering, so you get audible drops. There’s really nothing you can do about it, it’s the soundbar’s fault.

I was also there at everyone of those, and was able to preorder easily with 2 out of the 4. I’m just going to leave it at the fact that we are both operating on anecdotal evidence.

Ugh, be very careful with the "suspend point" feature. Just lost an hour and a half of my FF6 save. The suspend points override any manual saves made in the game it seems.

I truthfully was going to sell the one I got in store yesterday because I'm in desperate need of some extra cash (I've had surgery in the past few months and go to school for digital design now) but I said the hell with it and played it last night. Super Ghouls and Ghosts is such a son of a bitch. Love it though.

Yup, I got in 1 pre-order at 3 separate retailers, and not a single one came through on release. Target was the only one that actually shipped, but it's not coming through until next Friday. Who even knows with Amazon and Walmart.

Even if it wasn’t for scalpers, it would still have sold out and you would still not have one. Are you going to die from not having one for a few days/weeks? Do you not have anything else to play in the meantime? You sound like Cartman at the moment.

The game selection is absolute pure gold. One can, of course, complain about some missing masterpieces, but every single game in there is a true gem that deserves its spot.

People were complaining that Kirby's Dream Course was included; I never played it (surprisingly, my SO did, even though I don't think she ever owned an SNES). We played a round of it and it's so fun! It's the mix of golf, billiards and Kirby powers I never knew I wanted.

My Amazon UK order shipped - I can’t wait to get it. Shame it’s the EU color scheme though. I actually think it looks better but nostalgia beats everything and I’ll miss that purple.

I cheaped out on shipping speed though so it’ll take a good goddamn while to cross the Atlantic. Great price though, ended up paying £69.99 which works out to about US$94. My Amazon FR version was gonna be US$122, but I managed to cancel that order (after being charged and prepared for shipment) once the UK order was confirmed.

Indeed. That’s so dangerous I can’t imagine how many people are going to lose precious saves data because of it. I’m puzzled they couldn’t come up with a better way to implement this...

So - any word yet on when the next batch of stock may come in to a store? I heard Sunday maybe? Sorry if I missed that info somewhere in this thread - it moves at warp speed.

By nature they have to. Everything has to be identical in memory to use a save state, including the save ram. That said, it SHOULD have warned you that that's what would happen (it did after I accidentally corrupted my SMW save-ram "loading this save will replace your save file")

Many games rely on the save ram data being consistent. Loading a save state with mis-matched save ram could cause glitches and crashes.

I literally went to bed and woke up and all preorders were sold out. Fuck out of here with that nonsense.

Goddamn reading through this thread. My Walmart one won’t be here until Tuesday.

I’m still going to bitch about the lack of PilotWings, UN Squadron, and Turtles in Time.

I completely understand the licensing issues with Turtles, but goddamn I’d pay an extra 10 bucks to have that on there.

I love this thing so much. Playing through Mario RPG as my first game.

Love this game, love this machine, love my n3DS, love my Switch, love Nintendo!!!!

Uh...so I bought a Classic at Target yesterday and requested a cancellation of my Walmart preorder. Now I just got an email saying they just shipped my Walmart order. Fuck. I don't want/need this one, I figured it was backordered and I wouldn't be getting it. Thinking I may have to return this to a Walmart store once it arrives :/

Can someone explain the save state/ in game save issue described above?

Seems to me the issue is that if you load a save state you made BEFORE an in game save point, you’ll lose the in game save. Which makes sense since the save state saves everything about that moment and you don’t have that save yet. Am I missing something?
