Any chance modders would be able to put in a pixel perfect mode with scan lines? Because that would be amazing. I've been playing a mix of the CRT filter and 4:3 mode, pixel perfect mode just doesn't lend itself to this well like it did on 3DS SNES VC and NES Classic.

Really not sure. They didn't on the NES Mini, put it that way, and probably would've if they could?

Cluster is currently streaming SNES Mini hacking progress live on YouTube.

He started Lion King. Looks good.

You guys who are trying to argue that anyone who didn't get a preorder when they went up between like 1 and 4 am est clearly just didn't try hard enough need to chill out and be quiet

Stop assuming everyone has the same schedule and accessibility as you do

The only stores that went up overnight were Best Buy and Amazon. And maybe don’t come into a thread and tell people to chill and be quiet?

Castlevania IV even has the 8-direction whip.

Yeah, this made Dracula X feel like the rough one even though it came out much later.

Castlevania IV is kinda standard to begin with, but then stage 4 begins to go "Oh yeah, I'm on the SNES now" and kicks in gears.

Anyone else completely in love with the first custom frame option? It's not just a light gradient of color, it's basically Ambilight and will change the frame depending on the current screen's average color. It's super.

Speaking of screen stuff, with the NES Classic I cannot use 4:3 mode because the pixel shimmer during horizontal scrolling (thanks to the non-integer scaling) drives me crazy. I can only use 1:1 (sad thin people) or CRT (which is kind of neat). But on the SNES Classic, for some reason, 4:3 mode doesn't give me the same shimmer. Even though I know it shouldn't be possible when outputting 720p, it actually looks like each column of emulated pixels is actually getting the same amount of native pixels. What magic is this? There's no smeary bilinear filter going on.

My wife is sad that Mystical Ninja wasn't kept on the US release—it was apparently the one game she was really looking forward to and she only ever read the JP release list. Oh well, we'll just play Secret of Mana for the fourth time. :)

I'm wondering if they aren't doing an upscale to 4k or something and then downscale to 720p.

Stick with it. Even back in the day I felt like it started off "okay" but just gets better and better as it goes. By the end, you'll probably be a convert.

And the music. THE MUSIC.
The music sounds really lo-fi next to some of the masterpieces on here. Doesn't sound great next to DKC and the like.

The only stores that went up overnight were Best Buy and Amazon. And maybe don’t come into a bread and tell people to chill and be quiet?
Walmart and target sold out in literally seconds. The overnight sales where the only times where a ton of people could get their orders in.

Don't assume I wasn't there.

Also, like, I've been posting in this thread, so please don't accuse me of being a drive by.

This can't be stressed enough. In a series filled with amazing music, Castlevania IV has some of my favorite tracks in the entire series.

8bitdo released the firmware update for the retro receiver. i can use my wireless SNES controllers on the SNES Classic now. Works great, can't feel any lag.

So I started FFVI and got to Figaro Castle, and wow. With the CRT filter on, the brick towers are SO much more rounded than in sharp pixel mode. It's basically this image that floats around:

It's not quite as extreme as the one on the right, but it's closer to that than the mess on the left. I love it!

Not only that, I GOT a preorder and umm... "preparing".

Hi GAF,

I tried to look for this in OP but there's nothing
Me and my wife are confused about the fact that Final Fantasy VI and Secret of Mana have multiplayer.
What does this mean exactly? I'm confused (I don't remember much about SoM though)
Thanks

In Secret of Mana, you will very shortly recruit a second and third character. Another player can control one of those.

With FFVI, a second player can control someone in battle.

Both controllers can control characters in FFVI. I don't know how many people actually did that :lol

Secret of Mana has actual concurrent multiplayer (each controller can switch characters). FF6 lets you pick characters in battle to assign to each controller so that, say, you can be Terra and Edgar and your wife can be Locke and Sabin. My recommendation would be to ignore the FF6 multiplayer but play SoM 2 player!

I imagine the emulator provided doesn't emulate chips not included with the 21 games? I wonder what games the emulator wont handle if that's the case

That's the speculation. That would exclude games such as Mega Man X2, Mega Man X3, Far East of Eden Zero, Star Ocean, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Top Gear 3000..

You can enable just scan lines (not the rest of the CRT filter) on the NES classic. It's a separate commandline switchm. Odds are good for here, too.

Hmmm, so maybe not. Too bad there also isn't a variable scanline option on CRT mode like there is in the Hamster ACA ports. CRT looks pretty good but if you could make the scan lines more sharply defined it'd be great.

Oh nice, good to know!

Was suppose to get mine today but Amazon courier didn't even try to deliver it claiming that it was a failed attempted despite the fact that someone was at home and my neighbour was also home so they could have easily delivered it.

Will have to spend all day tomorrow keeping an eye out on the courier.

Updated my 8bitdo receivers and now my SNES30 and NES30 work great with the snes classic. You can also reset the console by pressing select and down.

I can't express how miserable my experience is with Amazon Couriers. So hit or miss.

I am as connected as a person could be, but I didn't get a preorder in. I also have two young children and a wife and a job and other social activities that take up most of my time. I got lucky yesterday and got one.

My point is, it's not hard to envision a scenario where a person can miss a preorder that stays open for only a few seconds online. Lol.

Ah yes, although you can't change the built-in menu, you could do command line arguments on each ROM.

--enable-crt-scanlines, -sc Enable CRT-like scanlines.
--enable-armet Enable Armet filter.
--armet-threshold=<t> Armet Detection Threshold (default is 20).
--set-dac-filters=[APU_FDS_14kHz|APU_14kHz_FDS_2kHz|none] Set DAC filters (default: APU_FDS_14kHz).
--guest-overscan-dimensions=<l,r,t,b> Set the number of black PPU pixels on the four screen borders.
--initial-fadein-durations=<t0,t1> Set the initial fadein durations in 1/10 of seconds. t0=blackscreen duration, t1=fadein duration.
--ppu-palette=<index/name> Specify the PPU palette (refer to code for values).
--ppu-palette-file=<filename> Specify the .pal palette file.

This is the first time that something like this has happened as I normally get good service with my parcel arriving on time or left with a neighbour.

This guy didn't even attempt to deliver it as my little brother was downstairs and didn't even hear a knock on the door or the doorbell ringing.
