Not sure what all the OP controversy is about, but the new purple box in the image looks a bit rough. Here's a transparency if you need one.
Edit: Somehow uploaded wrong image originally. Fixed.

People seem a little confused about the 8bitdo dongle, mainly because they have many products. One of them is an adapter that plugs into a regular snes and allows wireless controls on your original console. Obviously thats not what you want here.
They have another one called retro receiver (edit: seems they call them all retro receiver so you have to look at the image to see what it plugs into) It came out around the same time as the NES classic, and plugs into the Wii style port. It allows a variety of wireless controllers to pair with it. I use it just for the snes clone controllers from 8bitdo, but I believe it works for TONS of controllers like ds4, Switch pro, etc.
Out of the box, it doesnt work correctly with the SNES classic (only NES classic). However, theyve ALREADY released the firmware update to make it work appropriately. Takes 2 mins to do and works perfectly. Ive been using my 8bitdo controllers all day. Added bonus: down + select = reset; so no need to get up.
Seems to be out of stock right now on its own.

Not being able to use both pixel perfect mode and the scan line filter is a huge bummer. Will that be fixable with modding?
They are kind of antithetical, you can't have pixel perfect while applying a filter. I assume you mean a 5:4 aspect ratio with filter.
Pixel Perfect was never how the original console looked on a TV anyway. Not being able to use both pixel perfect mode and the scan line filter is a huge bummer. Will that be fixable with modding?
One thing I'm curious about, not being familiar with emulators, is once this thing is hacked how accurate to the originals are roms that can be added to it, compared to the official Nintendo authorized games that've been placed on here? I've never played Chrono Trigger before but if I add it to the SNES Mini is the audio going to be all janky, am I going to run into weird glitches, or will it be pretty much the same as if Nintendo had included it?

That's the thing, we don't know if they implemented per-game tweaks or hacks or if it's just a universal SNES emulator.
25 years later and I still can't figure out how to use Mario's cape in SMW

So who will take up this cross and fix this OP?

Finished SMW and LTTP, what should my next game be?
Build up the speed, hold down A to fly up.
Then press forward, imagine he's a dive bomber, then press back, imagine he's now using that momentum to pull upwards. Long presses give extreme movements and short presses keeps him going in a steadyish line.
It's not precise but can be adjusted to fit what task you need to do.

Once you're in the air you don't need to hold forward unless you want to crash down. Instead press the back direction about once a second (almost immediately after the sound effect ends)
While flying push forward to dive, push backward/away to pull up. Ever play the Batman Arkham games? Its like that. Mario doesn't fly, you gotta dive down to gather speed then pull back to open the cape and raise up, repeating the swooping dive bomb and pull up repeatedly.
What how, playing outside?Ugh my friend Dylan left my second controller out in the rain.
You don't have to and shouldn't dive down, much harder to maintain stability. Forward is for dive bombing into enemies only![]()

So the in-game save points in Super Metroid suddenly stopped working. I made the first save 9 minutes in, but any save I make in game since then doesn't record. I have to use save states only. That's really annoying!
Remember though when Sega was caught using Gens in some of their re-releases? LolGood emulation should generally be good regardless unless the emulator uses a bunch of hacks to cover for poor emulation. That said, retro arch will be available for those that don't work right.
It's generally less work emulating something correctly the first time than half assing it then trying to fiddle with individual hacks per game.
Emu authors work with far less info on the system to stay with than NERD would have.
It's no guarantee, but it's safe to assume NERD didn't intentionally cripple themselves or use 2nd and 3rd hand info.
On the NES Classic, the in game saves would be erased if you used a save state.
