Remember though when Sega was caught using Gens in some of their re-releases? Lol

I did a quick look through the open source licenses and I didn't see anything. That said, we already know NERD is filly capable of programming their emulators, where as Sega generally just farms out the work.

It mentioned it when you would go to do a save state. I've only used the save states, so I haven't tested it on the SNES.

Thanks, sorry you are right. I see it says " if you continue from the suspend point, your game's save data will be overwritten".

Just lost an hour of super Metroid :(

On the NES Classic, the in game saves would be erased if you used a save state.

That’s not really true. People just don’t understand how to use save states.

Save states save EVERYTHING about a game at the moment you capture it, including any in game saves you’ve made until that point.

For example:

You play 30 minutes of super Metroid, and make a save state.

Then you play another 15 minutes, and make an in game save.

If you turn off your system, and then load your save state the next day, your in game save will be lost because you loaded a save state from BEFORE you ever made the save.

Second example:

You play for 30 minutes. Save in game. Then make a save state 5 minutes later. If you load THAT save state, your in game save will also be preserved.

The best thing, IMO, is to only use save states, OR make save states after you save in game. You can alternate the save slot and delete older ones.

I mean... Both systems run the same resolution and most fonts are usually either black and white, or with one shade of grey and one transparent color...

SNES fonts usually had outlines.

Just put in four hours of secret of mana with my kid. Fucking amazing. I was his age when I get my SNES. This is so awesome to be able to share this kind of experience with him.

Have the "Pal" Super Nintendo. I find it a little jarring to have the US version of the game "the controller is the thing with the purple buttons" and shows a is controller on screen. Lol

I find the default views to be too pixelated. I like the CRT mode. And I wrong?

25 years later and I still can't figure out how to use Mario's cape in SMW

When you run and take off, hold down the Y button during flight, and hold down forward.

At the Apex of Mario's flight he will begin to dive by dipping his nose towards the ground. When this happens tap BACK and Mario will fluff up the cape behind him to get extra air.

It's this balance of tapping back when Mario leans towards in mid air while holding Y during flight will allow you full control over your fight.

The best place to practice and perfect your flying skill is the bonus area in World 2-1 (Donut Plains 1), the area with tons of coins in the sky.

Keep practicing until you can fly in a straight line and collect all of the coins in a single line.

Anyone have any issues with Best Buy shipping on this?
Looks like it was sent USPS (yuck) and the status has been really weird.

Here's what looks like for both Friday and Saturday:
September 29, 2017, 9:26 am In Transit to Destination On its way to X, XX XXXXX
September 30, 2017, 9:26 am In Transit to Destination On its way to X, XX XXXXX

What gives? Usually you should only see one of these but for some reason there are two, and it's expected delivery is today the 30th, but they're not going to drop off the mail at 9PM at night.

Which of the Kirby 8-minigame thing can be played with 2 players? I tried Gourmet Race which has great music but only works for one player.

Thanks, good to know. I went from save state -- in game save -- save state. But then i messed up my save state by deleting it (i'm an idiot) inadvertently, then hoped my in game save would be preserved. It obviously wasn't :(

Oh well lesson learned, thanks again for clarifying!

So how do we get notified when these get back in stock at amazon since they'll probably only be up for 5 minutes?

You'll get a notification saying a treasure truck is in your area.

(They still haven't filled any preorders AFAIK. I wouldn't expect snes classics to be sold online again until other stores have had multiple restocks.)

So as I stated in the other thread earlier, I was able to secure one at Best buy. I was thinking about not opening it and selling it in the future if stock on this thing goes dry and resell prices for it go up....

but this thread has me wanting to open it and play it lol

I LOVE how you all are so salty over the OP's treatment of NA box/console! 😂😂😂

Get over it, it's purple as fuck.

2 purple buttons on the console is "as fuck"? That said, it's god damn adorable in mini form. It looks like an old model space ship from the original Star Trek.

totally not helping my case am I?

Walmart still hasn't shipped my order ffs -_-

I never trust retailers like target and Walmart with this stuff. That’s why I have 3 preorders.

Target cancelled my NES classic preorder on me at the last minute. I had given up until the Amazon Treasure Truck delivered a few months back.

I received my SNES classic from my GameStop order. I have a target order that “shipped” though all tracking seems to be lost. And my walmart order that, like yours, has yet to make any meaningful progress. Gut feeling tells me my walmart order is getting cancelled.

Not a good idea, do you know what your TV's USB outputs in Voltage and Amperage?

If the SNES doesn't have enough power, it could act weird or brick on you, I'd strongly suggest using the power supply it came with or if you lost it using one that outputs the same voltage/amperage.

has there ever been a case where a NES mini has bricked because of usb power on the TV? I think this is something people do pretty often, at least on here. I don't think it requires much power.

Wish we got Tetris Attack instead of that garbage Kirby gold crapathon, or any multiplayer beat em up. Great collection of games otherwise

We can’t get Tetris Attack because it officially licenses the Tetris brand, which Nintendo had rights to at the time, but no longer does. So it can’t be there for the same reason that any other license game (TMNT, etc) can’t be.

But isn’t that same game on the japan SNES classic?

Well, I need to put this out here, hoping someone can help me. I fucked up my ThinkGeek order from a couple of nights ago. In the rush of placing the order as the site went down and back up I used the same shipping address for the billing address, meaning that it won't match the credit card I used (but the shipping address is correct), and now the site won't let me change that detail since my order is currently in "Processing". Never had this happen to me before, what can I expect, outright cancellation, or will I have a chance to fix that somehow? (credit card details are also correct, btw)

How's the build quality of these things? Honestly if I buy one I'll play it for 2 hours tops and then it'll just be for display 99% of the time.

Subjective chance for my extra SNES classic
The first person who makes me literally LOL the hardest gets my extra SNES fuck scalpers. Selling at cost but you have to pay for shipping.

No, it's not.
Panel de Pon is.
Notice the lack of "Tetris" in the title.

In hindsight it was a stupid mistake by Nintendo, because they locked themselves out from ever being able to republish this game. At the same time, I fully understand why they wanted the Tetris brand recognition both for the immense marketing appeal and letting people know right off the bat that this was a puzzle game... I’m sure it would have had been much less of a success had it been called Yoshi’s Panel or something...

Fair enough. I assumed the licensing issue would apply to gameplay itself. And since both versions still have Tetris gameplay I thought it being on the JPN console meant they had the necessary approvals. But I guess it’s just the name.

I'm exposing myself here:

My first Mario game was Super Mario Sunshine (had a N64, never did get SM64). Despite being the weakest Mario game, I had a grand time playing it over a few weeks. However, I never purchased it, because I kept it those few weeks as a rental (Hollywood Video or Blockbuster, I've forgotten). I'm certain it would have been cheaper to purchase the game than to rent it for a few weeks. In fact, I vaguely remember a comment from an employee saying as much.

Yeah they are but all 3 got delisted from the Wii VC for awhile, making me think Microsoft still owns parts of the game.

Well DKC2 does feature KI characters, a KI arcade machine and a « KI here! » banner. That could possibly explain why. As for DKC3, I have no idea...

It’s really just the name. The game really has nothing to do with Tetris. There’s no “Tetris gameplay” here. Nintendo just wanted to slap the Tetris name on it so that it would sell a whole lot based on that alone.

Build quality is excellent. Basically just a ring version of original. Plastics feel great. Controller feels better than a real snes controller to me.
