I am super jealous of everyone that managed to get one! Where can i get one in London!??!

Off of a scalpers lol.
Just checked amazon. Fuck Nintendo. They could sell a couple of million if these with ease. Yet they make a few, and let the scalpers rape people with impunity. Seriously, Nintendo nothing but cunts. Reggie saying not long ago that they had made enough. Cunt!

A bit angry here

So, what's the consensus?

Pixel perfect mode or 4:3?
Pixel perfect of course. Why would I choose the stretched version?
Not all games are designed for pixel perfect mode, and maybe there's other advantages to 4:3 I'm not aware of yet :)

Maybe it's time to get some fresh air there, buddy

For like a week

DF Retro analysis, for those of us who are still waiting for their console to get delivered :P

tl;dr: It's good, better than the NESC, but not perfect. You should expect perfect emulation from a tiny, cheap mini-console, though. Get Higan for that!

They will sell a few million and they're making them into 2018. Nobody is "letting" scalpers do anything. Don't buy off of a scalper. It's easy. You're calling people cunts over a few bits of electronics. I think you need to check your perspective a bit.

I'm using the 4:3 CRT, looks good to me. I couldn't see any shimmer when comparing all the modes too.

It was really obvious on the NES.

Of course they are making enough.. just the nes.

I called people worse for less. But please, if you're a bit sensitive, there is an ignore button. Feel free to press it

Pixel perfect mode or 4:3?

There’s no consensus because it’s on a per game basis. Some developers took the 4:3 stretching into account for their graphics so they look wrong in PP (super Metroid; actually not sure what else), whereas other games look much better (to me) in PP. I’m using pixel perfect unless something looks off to me

Gonna have to hold off playing mine until the controller extension cable shows up. Didn't realise it's reach nowhere near my couch :O

i have been sitting on a pillow in my floor, looking up at my tv. it's weirdly nostalgic but obviously not ideal. but i also couldn't wait for my extensions.

Chill out. Jesus Christ. It’s just a toy. Yeah, they’re fun, but you appear to be freaking out a little. There will be more released. Take a breath.

I also really don't like the CRT filter. It's such a cheap looking filter.

If you want to see a few really good ones, a few premium deluxe, "holy shit how does this look like" filter, play Sonic Mania. These are native and unbelievable impressive.

On the SNES mini, it just looks blurry and like 480p. Literally a like a bad quality picture. Awful. If I want that I would play on the original console without an RGB cable. It's technically just not a good filter if you already saw a few really good ones before.

I wish they at least had a release day on a weekend. There was no restock, which means if they do it will be during the week again ....

I will probably mix this up with a couple of Jump 'n Run games that I will occasionally boot up - foremost Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island and Mega Man X. I finished the first two games before on the Virtual Console, but never with 96* exits, which I will try to tackle for the first time (there are no exits that you can permanently miss, right)? Mega Man X however will be though - yesterday I started a couple of stages and even managed to arrive at some bosses, but got kicked my butt so hard. I only managed to beat the bird boss - we'll see what use his weapon gonna be!

You can't permanently miss an exit in Super Mario World, you can replay your file as many times as you want to your heart's content until you get all 96 exits. :)

I would be willing to pay $100 for it. No more though. I think part of the angst people have is the uncertainty of stock and in a timely fashion. You have to admit, Nintendo has a very bad track record.

Pixel perfect of course. Why would I choose the stretched version?

Because some games accounted for the 4:3 stretching and designed their art in consequence?

Which one looks more correct to you? The one with the oblong moon (pixel perfect) or the one with the round moon (4:3)?

Anyone with a functional brain might have dealt with the fact that one can not obtain every consumer electronics device the moment it drops. Literally every non-niche piece of video game hardware has this issue. Hell, even incredibly niche PC components sell out at launch. People have to wait for their processors and graphics cards.

Scalpers are only a symptom of the supply and demand being temporarily out of whack, like always. But Nintendo told us it will be rectified. You just have to wait a little bit.

I don’t have an SNES Classic yet, and I want one, but somehow I’m managing to stay realistic about this. I didn’t even swear or reference rape once! Incredible.

I ended up putting the player 1 receiver inside the machine, I couldn't fit player 2 in there too :/

I mostly play single player so it's not a big deal. Looks so much cleaner when you're playing the thing and the front flap is closed.

Much better.

Same here! Although it is more uncomfortable now that I'm older and the pillow can't seem to support my weight. :-).

Not sure how I did it back in the day. 10 minutes in and my back is killing me.

I was thinking of buying the wireless controller before getting the system .... in the hopes I get the system. Good or bad idea? lol

What's the battery life on it?

Pretty much the attitude I had with the NES Classic. Until months went by and I still never saw one in stores. And then Nintendo announced they were discontinued.

If you're going for the 8bitdo SNES30/SFC30 and the NES Wireless Retro Receiver you have nothing to worry about, they work brilliantly with the latest firmware update.

What's the battery life on it?

18 play hours with 1-2 hour charging time

According to the website, i've never really exhausted the battery on these things because i periodically charge them.

Battery life has never been a concern for me, even with long play sessions.

Calling out someone for saying Reggie's a cunt and who's talking about scalpers raping people is being 'arrogant'

Lmao

No one would realistically deny Reggie being an absolute piece of shit (I know 'cunt' is what was used and even then I wouldn't disagree), but the raping reference was a little extreme.

Regardless, for those who got one, I'm glad you are enjoying yours.
