Man twitter is a shitshow for these type of situations.Nothing but garbage and alt right trolls posting that sam hyde shit.

As well meaning as those people might be, it's definitely the right call. This is still an ongoing situation. Hopefully there aren't any more suspects out there, but it seems like that's unclear right now.

How so? They don't want vigilantes coming down or other people who can potentially put themselves in harm's way.

Sorry, it's troubling to me that people want to come down with guns and 'protect' innocents that really freaks me out.

We just had a briefing from an LVPD officer. He said there was one shooter and he was dead. There was no second shooter. We are free to leave the Bellagio now.

Nice to know that you're safe. I hope the officer is right that it's only one shooter.

Weird they would say there's only one shooter and hes down when there was automatic fire on the scanner only minutes ago.

I recommend you stop listening to the scanner. I don't know what the kind of play-by-play with no information but unfiltered sounds really gets you :/

All of that from ONE shooter? He must have been seriously armed.
Sounds like it could be an assault rifle equipped with a beta magazine or a belt fed machine gun. I've never heard gunshots stand for that amount of time.

The most alarming fact is that so many people are unfamiliar with what gunfire sounds like.

Do we know where the shooter was firing from?
Admittedly not read the entire thread

Hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay, firing into the Route 91 concert which was on the ground floor area of Mandalay Bay.

He is dead, police stormed the room and killed him.

Doesn't sound like that info's being released yet (probably for the best) but you'll probably hear about it in a few hours.

EDIT: Heard it as I was typing that oddly enough. 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay.

Wouldn't it be better that less people have heard it?

Don't spread bad information, and don't post unsourced information in here. If you're dropping information, let people know where it came from. And if you see a stupid tweet, don't expand its reach.

If this is true and he wasn't right in front of the concert crowd this may have saved lives. I mean the fact that some asshole had access to a gun capable of this level of harm is always going to be terrible but perhaps his distance from the crowd itself was a blessing in disguise

With what has been going on with terrorist attacks, having knowledge on this type of stuff is something that is highly beneficial. To be able to identify sounds in your surroundings can save your life.

I grew up in a bad neighborhood, so I've heard a lot of gunfire and have had bullets ricochet off the ground next to me.

Man, that cop telling people not to come to the strip to help is troubling.

Because that exactly what an active shooter situation needs, some idiot with a hero complex and potentially a gun thinking they can ‘help’.

Ugh, what a horrible situation. Hopefully the casualties list doesn’t rise and people who were wounded can recover.

Jesus fucking christ, I was taken to that casino so much as a kid.

Mandalay Bay is my favorite hotel in Vegas and I have so many happy and fun memories with my husband and family there. This is all such a shame.

I want the world to be better than it is. There's nothing I can do about this, but it feels closer than other attacks to me. It makes me want to be a better person in general, to make the world nicer in whatever way I can.

I'm now wondering what type of weaponry was being used.

Definitely military grade or possibly modified.

And to think I was going to connect through McCarran International instead of Phoenix today..
