It's the whole damn thing. "My warmest condolences and sympathies" is the sort of shit you write on a group office card when creepy Frank from HR's grandmother dies. Not when you're the POTUS and a mass shooting occurs on US soil.

It basically reads like "What a shame this unfortunate and unpreventable mishap has occurred. Well, have a good one!"

I haven't been able to check my friends in Vegas are safe yet. Fuck this asshole.

Okay, I thought it might just be me, but yeah that part irked me way more than the "bless" part

This is terrible and of course the progun defense force will be making excuses any minute now.

Well with the apparent range between the shooter and the victims they can't come up with their tired old argument that this wouldn't have happened if the victims had weapons themselves.

It's unfortunate but that's what happens when things like that become a common occurence.
We have brown people terrorizing different countries every two weeks or so in Europe for some time and they barely make the news now if the death toll isn't high enough. Not even thinking about some counter measures.

Hopefully at least America can sort their gun laws.

My thoughts go to everyone affected. Stay strong.

Holy shit, cant believe im reading this on GAF, your categorising brown people as terrorists, i mean you're not making a distinction here just lumping terrorism based on skin colour, this is Trump level negligence om your behalf.

Back on topic, this is shocking, from 2, to 20 now 50. Dear god.

Don't worry. Congress will also send some thoughts and prayers.

Why does he have such awkwardness with language? Warmest condolences sounds so odd, to me at least. You send warm wishes on a birthday. Those two words together just sound odd.

Anyway, whatever. Trump is a triviality here.
Remember when he send "best regards" to the victims of Charlottesville? It's hard to tell sometimes if he's being an asshole or an idiot.

A massacre of the most unimaginable proportions. What on earth would drive someone to shoot 300+ people? Just horrifying.

I'm sorry for politicizing this tragedy. I forgot that right now it's not the time to talk about gun control.

How dare you talk about the one thing that can help grieving families of the victims? The one thing that can help prevent this thing from happening again?

All for fake internet points on a website that doesn't give internet points?

So seriously, what are the arguments for maintaining current level of access to automatics? Or not barring automatic guns:

- money in pockets
- need to be armed against your government
- fight fire with fire with the terrorists
- money in pockets
- ???
- its my hobby
- don't take rights away
- I have the money for one
- my ego loves the feeling of power

Under what fucking justification do regular citizens need to own weapons created for war?

if you're an old person and want to go out in a blaze of glory, pull out a goddamned joint, not an automatic rifle so you can ruin other people's lives forever you fucking fuck. for fuck's sake why

Now’s not the time to dogpile on the societal shortcomings that America has; we’re certainly not the only country with its fair share of problems. The narrative should be focused on the tragedy and how it can be prevented in the future.

We are the only country in the world where this keeps happening - this awful thing we have the means to change but we as a country have no interest in doing so. Just any random individual can get whatever guns they want to shoot up whoever the fuck they want, and it's perfectly acceptable to our government.

It's absolutely the right time to call out America for continuing to fail its citizens. All these people are dead because of America's obsession with guns.

From the New York Times

"Several SWAT teams were sent to the hotel immediately after the first reports of the shooting at 10:08 p.m., and officers overheard on police radio reported being pinned down by gunfire. Shortly before midnight the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that “one suspect is down,” and soon thereafter the police said they did not believe there were any more active gunmen."

Wait
From 10:08 till midnight?

I don't know how someone wakes up, and decides they are going to just shoot up a bunch of people they've never met before. Rest in peace to everyone we lost today in Las Vegas, my condolences to all their loved ones.

Holy shit, the narrative on the youtube video on that site is bordering on full blown psychosis.
'Rekindle the flame of the patriots and the founding fathers', 'reclaim your birthright' - what? By being able to shoot lead at 600 RPM?

I can't even begin to describe how utterly insane it is to hear these things. America's utter obsession with the flag and guns is sickening.
And then you realize this shit gets drilled into kids' minds from kindergarten. They don't know better.

Jesus Christ, that video plays like a satire. Like, if they went 5% further it'd fit right in as one of the super on-the-nose joke ads in GTAV. But instead of being funny it's just terrifying.

That one Snapchat video is absolutely horrifying. The sick fuck was just unloading on people. I don't even know what to say anymore, condolences to the victims families. I pray those that are injured recover.

This is AWFUL. Terrible news to wake up to. They were like fish in a barrel... RIP.

As far as gun control goes, if Sandy Hook didn’t change anything then I don’t think anything will. Pulse Nightclub didn’t either.

He reportedly shot more than 250 people in a minute.

You don't need firepower like that for hunting.

Or home defense.

Or self defense.

How the fuck is it a misdirection?

I think the point is that it wouldn't be any more acceptable if it had "only" killed, say, 15 people, and as such the fact the weapon was capable of much more isn't of tremendous relevance in terms of what to do going forwards.

I'm sorry for politicizing this tragedy. I forgot that right now it's not the time to talk about gun control.

What? The post I quoted had nothing to do with gun control. I found it distasteful to fire off a sarcastic "everything is cool" remark in a topic where everyone is appalled, shocked and trying to stay up to date on the dead/injured. The same as the outcry across the world right now in countries where people are watching the news.

No they put a press release out at midnight, he was likely killed 1-2 hours earlier.

Glad I wasn't the only one.

Shit sounds like one of those GTA commercials...

He only had few words, since it is Twitter, so in this context it is OK I guess, but of course, most presidents of the US would probably not resort to such a limited form of communication in such a situation.

Jesus fuck I just woke up to hear this happened. Fuck! Is there a summary of all the accurate info out there? Prayers (cheap I admit/know) out to those in Vegas!

That's a lot of nonsense. People are appalled by this. It's mainstream news all over the world.

There are some posters in this topic really trying to agitate shit and it's not pretty. There are bodies probably still warm and people fighting for their lives and some of you are more concerned about scoring political points or aiming to agitate feelings during a horrible situation.
You mean like prevent people from dying from firearms in the future...

Was it a belt fed machine gun ?

Is this... legal to own as a private citizen in the US ?

I know about AR and shit but belt fed machine gun ? Holy shit...
