I just can't get over that over 450 people were shot all within that time frame. How could that monster get 10+ guns up to that hotel room? Like how does that even happen?

the gun control debate is effectively over no matter what happens. There could be a shooter tomorrow that guns down 400 people and it wouldn't move the needle I don't think.

The only way to save lives is to create extremely secure premises around places of large crowds. Metal detectors everywhere, music festivals must be indoors in a safe and secure environment.

This is disgusting. I'm lost for words. America is an absolute joke of a country, fuck everyone who defends their 'right to a firearm'

Please don't do this.

The country is completely divided on gun control.

I sympathize with your frustration but calling America a joke of a country is lazy rhetoric akin to calling all Americans fat & lazy.

My heart goes out to all affected, both directly and indirectly.

Local police raided the home. Officer said nothing unusual. They found some weapons and ammunition, but officer didn't say what type or how many. Could have just been a pistol and ammo for protection I guess.

I sense this will be Scripted Trump, so prepare for slow, forced sentences, and when he interjects with "so, so true" or similar words, it means he realises that he agrees with what he just read.

Still..

being able to injure 400 people with a single weapon in that short span of time...

this fucking monster

Many of those injuries are likely not all from the shooter, but people getting hurt in the panic. People were getting knocked over, trampled, jumping over fences, tripping, etc, etc.

Some of the deaths are possibly not even from the shooter, but from injuries sustained in the panic

Lots of guns come apart. Put into multiple bags/luggage and bring up to your room. Simple.

I don't think 450 folks were shot. Pretty sure a bunch of injuries were from the panic/rush to get out of the area. I'd imagine lots of people got trampled/injured in the chaos.

People aren’t actually scared of violent Islamic extremism, they’re scared of brown and black people for which violent Islamic extremism is a convenient cover.

So I’m not sure how ISIS taking credit for an old white dude’s killing spree isn’t super-uncomfortable and awkward for the fearmongers.

Trump is going to take that ISIS tweet and shove it up our asses. "See, it's ISIS," without regard for their history of claiming responsibility for attacks that have nothing to do with them. Meh.

It would actually be the first time, no ?
I really do hope it's just a false claim. They do claim attack impossible to corroborate, but in this case, a 60+ white, we will know fast.

Some really stupid people at work with me... (im in portugal)

Me : do u guys know what happen in las vegas? 50 people were killed....
A collegue : so what?

i literally had to stop myself to tell her to fuck off....

Shootings in America have become so common place that people become desentisized to it.

The fact that our country is divided on this is a fucking joke.

Oh yeah, that's true.

If the govt isn't gonna put any restrictions on guns themselves, at least ban high capacity mags (over 10 rounds for rifles), silencers, and bump stocks. Seems like a reasonable restricion to me and could save lives.

They didn't do it for the elementary school shooting.. I doubt they will now and thats horrible.
Agreed but given the recent mass shootings such as Sandy Hook, you can imagine that this path to prevention seems rather unreachable.

What else can be done?

The poster asked "what can you do to prevent this?". Gun control is literally the answer.

And yes, after these fucking assholes did nothing after Sandy Hook, it's definitely not going to happen any time soon.

Just carry them up to your room? You could easily put a few in the kind of luggage you use for golf clubs, for example. Of all the logistical considerations that have to go into a shooting like this, getting guns into the hotel room is probably the most trivial part.

American gun control at its finest. While this is clearly a tragedy, there is no doubt in my mind that many of the people in the crowd (at a country music festival) are probably advocates of unrestricted firearms access and have either directly or indirectly reaped what they sowed. No one ever deserves to be gunned down in cold blood, but this is America at its essence.

Our country is a joke, just look at our president.
