Edit: nevermind, he's banned. Got distracted at work. This thread is moving fast.
Get the fuck outta here with this trash. Have some decency.
Come on, man. You're not even trying
Why do you label your opposition "the left"? What is leftist about gun regulation?
Not disagreeing with you guys but y'all have to understand this is the basis, almost word for word, people use in real life. I mean, almost word for word.
I hear it all the time here in SC. I think instead of hot takes thrown at that post, we could write something constructive like the below...
Oh I'm sorry that our position this morning isn't nuanced enough for you.
Wait, no I'm fucking not. This 'logic' you're putting forwards is basically saying we shouldn't have bothered making murder illegal, since it'll still happen.
If it was harder to buy guns or bullets this would happen less.
That's a fucking fact. CF every country where it's harder to buy guns and bullets, where the attacks tend to use much less lethal weapons, and where the death tolls tend to be much much lower.
There's a reason no one is driving trucks into crowds of people in the US, and it's because it's really fucking easy to get guns.
Very true. And well written.
For people who make that argument, it's an "all of nothing" kind of mentality. They also claim that gun control only hurts the honest gun owners. It does nothing for people who buy them illegally.
The question you have to ask them is "where are the illegal guns coming from?" Answer: from states that have lax gun laws. Example: Indiana bought guns travelling to Chi town.
Indiana's laws are so lax, you can legally saw off your shotgun. (You know, for those huge grizzly bear home invasions where you need a wide spread) They of course have the gun show loophole, so anyone can go to Indiana, buy assault rifles from a gun show (unchecked) and drive an hour into Chi town and sell them.
It happens in SC as well. A hand gun is relatively cheap here. I could technically buy 5 of them for a total of 2.5k and sell them in NYC for around 15k. It's a lucrative business for criminals and we need to attack it from that end as well. Not just gun control.
But we can't get there because the arguments stops before it begins. Because of the defeatist mentality citizens have and the lobby money paid to Republicans by the NRA and other gun manufacture interest groups.
