I mentioned magazines. Capping magazine sizes and the amount of ammo a person can purchase at once would be a great start for making sure shit like this doesn't happen. The previous assault rifle ban would also ban long guns that could be modified to be fully auto.

But, sure, do nothing. Watch the copycats roll in.

I don't know I how I feel about that now but I hated it when they limited magazine size in the 90's. I was much more comfortable with knowing I had more rounds when I used to carry. What capacity would be a good number to you? I'm all for strict background checks but I don't know that an AR-15 is any worse than a hunting riffle assuming its not full auto of course.

"My house just got broken into, what should I do to prevent it?"

Now is not the time to talk about securing your house.

"I just had a heart attack, what should I do doctor?"

Now is the not the time to talk about your health.

"Everyone at my company just got laid off, what do we do?"

Now is not the time to talk about finding new employment.

Just learned that someone from my town in Alberta is now missing in Vegas. Her husband is at the Red Cross there, but she hasn’t been heard from since this happened last night.

Amazing how even the smallest of towns have been impacted by this, Vegas may be an American city but I’d bet a number of the victims are international tourists.

This is how I feel. I'm for much tighter regulations but i have a few and really want to keep them. I know it's hypocritical but that's how I feel.

I'm really curious why you're so enamored with them. It's a killing tool. What can it provide other than death that, say, playing an FPS won't?

Hey GAF friends, I'd start up a new thread myself, but I'm still a junior member, so I feel this would be the most appropriate place for this.

My friend, Aubree's boyfriend, Austin Davis, was at the concert, but has not been heard from since the shooting started.

From my understanding, Aubree has provided his description to the various hospitals and places treating the wounded out there and called the various numbers that have been provided to her, but has had no luck so far.

If any of you from VegasGAF or who are currently in Vegas can keep an eye out for him we would all be very grateful. Feel free to PM me here or contact Aubree directly if you come across him or any info. Thanks everyone.
Quoting for visibility.

“Too early to call this domestic terrorism”?

Like, what? So this guy was shooting people to show them a good time?

Terrorism, in its generally accepted definition, includes a political or ideological motive and is done with the intention of striking fear in the population. Some guy snapping and going on a rampage for no real reason isn't technically terrorism.

In what reality do you need so many rounds in a magazine?

Maybe if you live in Syria.

Why were you more comfortable with more rounds when you could carry? You only need four bullets to incapacitate a target factoring in a couple of misses. Additionally, carrying a gun in the first place increases your likelihood of being killed by a gun, even without considering suicides. Having a gun can turn a situation where you could be robbed into you getting shot because you tried to resist(and statistically, that's how things work out more often than not).

You want more than four shots for competitive shooting? Just allow shooting ranges to have bigger magazines that can't be removed from the premises.

Donated some money for the Gofundme, not much but I gave what I could.

I don't know about that, is country music internationally popular? I still want to know why that particular concert though.

Although, sometimes evil just has no explanation.

Someone who goes postal and kills a bunch of people is not necessarily a terrorist. Terrorism is usually linked to political motives.

The labels don't necessarily matter that much anyway, compared to the tragedy.

Let's wait and see if the police finds a motive; if it is terrorism or, even worse, he turns out to be linked to some organization, that might indicate other coming attacks. Hopefully he acted on his own.

Republicans don’t care because gun violence and lack of healthcare both disproportionately harm poor people and POC. Meanwhile, try putting a roadblock in the way of rich white men and it will be eradicated in no time.

that's what's sad about it.

Again, i'm not naive enough to think regulations and laws would completely eradicate gun violence or health related deaths, or even a lions share of them in gun violence's case.

However, we could absolutely put things into place right now today if we wanted to that could take significant percentages off of those people who die unnecessarily.

And if taking 10, 15, 20 percent off of the gun violence death count annually through some common sense rules and regulations is something we have the power to do, there should be no excuse that is worth debate to not go forward with it.

“After something as horrific as what happened in Las Vegas, we’re all just hoping that now these terrible shootings will stop once and for all without circumstances changing in any way or any of us taking even the slightest amount of action in response,” said Harrisburg, PA resident David Snyder, echoing the sentiments of tens of millions of citizens from coast to coast who told reporters they were confident that, after living through the most deadly mass shooting in modern American history and taking no material steps to change gun laws, reevaluate safety standards, increase access to mental health care, or even have a national conversation about how mass shootings could be avoided in the future, tragedies of this kind would at long last come to an end.

Dayum.

Was at work all day and could hardly follow the news, this is so horrible. You'd think a tragedy of this magnitude would put the gun laws back under discussion but I guess that's too much to hope for. Once again nothing will change I guess.

For many people, there is no time to talk about important issues regarding public safety. Not during a national tragedy, not after.

Is Scott Adams a milkshake duck or is this a one off thing?!?!

Scott Adams is, like, and otherworldly psychopath. He checks every box. This is all he has been for several years. His sociopathy, at times, has verged on such ludicrousness that it has almost been comical.

But there aren't a lot of laughs to he had these days.

It's not going to be on the table any time soon. If the gruesome murder of dozens of small children couldn't get even the smallest law enacted or even voted on nothing is going to.

My sister swears that there were more shootings in Vegas last night, including at a CVS and people being shot in their cars but I can't find anything.

Can anyone link me to the article about fake info going around?

My friend just sent me this post and I want to link him to something before I fucking punch him in the face

"The shooter, Stephen Craig Paddock, 64.. a white liberal Democrat, hated President Trump and spoke openly about his political views. They are as follows:

Political Views per his Facebook page:
-Proud to Be a Democrat
-The Rachel Maddow Show
-Thank You Obama
-Anti-Trump Army
-Progressive Day,
Organizing for Action (Soros)
-Not My President
-Fight Trump
-Boycott All Things Trump
-Impeach Trump

I am sharing, because the media won't."

It reminds me of those people yelling about gun violence but paradoxically also not being for more border security, almost like magical spells are what's bringing illegal weapons into the country!~

You do realize that the overwhelming majority of guns walking across the board come *from* the US, right?

Our robust manufacturing is the source of most illegal guns across the entire content. Cracking down here would benefit everyone around us, particularly northern Mexico.
