Nice, going to keep an eye on this. I've had engrams at vendors for a few days now, highest i've seen them is 299.
So, although I had to nearly 40 mins (!) last night I finally found a group for the raid via guided games. There was a group of 4 guys who knew each other and then another guy and myself. 2 of us including myself had never even set foot in there before and another had never cleared it.
Despite all of this and after nearly 5 hours, we managed to get a full clear! The experienced members were really patient, friendly and helpful. Although we obviously wiped loads and almost had to abandon due revive glitch issues (seriously Bungie, give us raid checkpoints through guided games or at least fix these bugs) the team were all stoked when we finally downed Calus. We exchanged friend requests and will definitely be teaming up again.
I had a similar experience with the Nightfall last week too. Both way more positive than I thought they would be.

I think overall guided games is a bit of a miss. They really should have just had a server browser.
What do clans even gain from guiding?
I've helped with many NFs this week, but none through the Clan/Guide menu.
That's good to hear, congrats!
I'm so glad to hear you had a positive experience with Guided Games. While I've been lucky with the Giant Bomb clan I'm in and coming on here, because of my schedule, I forsee having to use Guided Games at some point. Conceptually in love with it but I've been hearing mostly not too positive experiences.
Now add Guided Games for Trials of the Nine, Bungie hehe (This would probably be a disaster)
I was doing the same thing then I realized that even when I'm doing well in the Crucible, I'm not really having fun, especially when things aren't going well.
Going to be mainly sticking to PVE until they sort things out with balancing and matchmaking. Plenty of other PVP games I can play that do things much better.
The stats that Bungie has reveal for the NF guided games is that over 90% have resulted in completions. That is pretty compelling IMO.I'm so glad to hear you had a positive experience with Guided Games. I think it's just a technical limitation due to how it works at present rather than there being a "reason" for this. In theory a seeker has the opportunity to join a clan after a session, but at the same time I'd think any Guides who are willing to Guide should be able to even if their clan is not recruiting (and this is the case right now, as long as your clan isn't full)The guided games feature is weird in many ways. Like why can full clans not use it? I must be missing something. Me and the work buddy I usually play with have had a lot of success with Nightfalls as guides, kinda sucks we won't be able to use it if our clan fills up.

But Bungie is just weird in general when it comes to LFG / matchmaking, so I'm not too surprised tbh.
What about a full auto scout? Is there any full auto kinetic scouts?Super interesting video. ARs definitely tear him up, I've been using Scathelock on my Warlock until breaking him open lately and it does great.
From fairly early on, I knew Coldheart wouldn't be the actual top of the pack in pure DPS terms, but it is particularly well-suited to the fight for most people. In terms of literal damage per second, a Sharpshooter Nighthawk precision shot will be #1, then a cluster bomb RL with a rally barricade for instant reload on the plate (since rockets are balanced for extremely high damage around a single shot/long reload, taking this variable away means nothing can really compete; plus if all the bombs hitting his huge hitbox you squeeze even more out, though there's a bunch of variability) then a much muddier field with lots of fun options after that. And of course, what you have overall for the four plates is more important than how much damage you do over any individual period of seconds. Of course, rockets run the risk of blowing yourself up or a TON of damage loss due to a single miss.
Coldheart's solid beam is perfect for Calus' extremely squarelike hittable crit spots. You basically have no issue ensuring the "full speed" stream is all crits, which is great. But, it does make sense that is outclassed by Sweet Business if you can hit all the shots in a similar way because it's kinetic. At the same time, using neither with very damaging ARs in your kinetic/energy frees up your exotic slot for Merciless.
The biggest surprise to me was that snipers may be a preferable power choice with an exotic in the other slots. I am wagering that if the team is coordinated with an empowering rift and rally barricades to empty a full volley of rockets on the first plate, it is worthwhile to do so, but it does make sense that the much larger ammo capacity can yield a comparable or better total damage per phase without any of the downsides/risks of rockets.
Good fight for having lots of competitive loadouts, which is great as the different roles benefit more from switching up certain slots.
Definitely don't neglect High Impact Reserve ARs here, as much of Ghost Primus' damage was taking advantage of that.
In Nightfall, it's 1 seeker and 2 guides. In Raids, it's 1-2 seekers and 4-5 guides. I'm glad it exists and I might keep using it for Nightfalls when I notice the wait time is 10 mins. However, I think it has a lot of room for improvements. Maybe let us do some events while match making and remove the Clan requirement for guides.

I think they see it as way to recruit people to a clan. In an ideal situation you would find someone you really like playing with, invite them to your clan, and continue to play with them with your clanmates.
Calus-only run + maybe chests at 6pm EST
4 slots open
this sounds more complicated than the guantlet encounter. The stats that Bungie has reveal for the NF guided games is that over 90% have resulted in completions. That is pretty compelling IMO.

It is very strange to me that you have to have two Guides for a nightfall though. Seems that more people could be helped overall by only requiring one. For raids I can understand the requirement to have half or more being a clan with some preexisting knowledge.
I think they are going to need to give rewards for being guides.
Quite frankly, if you are a "sherpa" you are likely a hardcore destiny player thats been around awhile...probably have your community that you help. You would be more inclined to help your community than some randos...
Sherpa(ing) a raid is simply incredibly time consuming. A nightfall is one thing. A raid can take hours upon hours.
They pitched Guided Games raiding as a way for smaller clans that can't fill out an entire Raid team to match with even smaller groups in order to do the content. So it's not exactly intended as a sherpa-esque system as much as it is a system to enable small groups to help each other out, and hopefully join into one larger group afterwards.
However even this is a bit odd as the system doesn't support 3 and 3 matching; especially odd since it's the size of a fireteam.
There's just tiny things about the details of the Guided Games system that are confusing from the outside looking in.

Pretty sure you're right.
But why have clan number limits in invite-only clans?
Yeah, that makes sense. I guess my friend and I using it as an LFG system isn't really what Bungie intended, but without a proper LFG tool it's the only band-aid we've got at the moment. It's basically what Jest Chillin said. GG has two purposes: 1. Provide a way for lone wolfs to match up with people and be guided through advanced content & 2. Provide a way for clans to recruit.
The problem is that there's just as much priority put on both of those purposes (thus no GG guiding for full clans) and that it's the ONLY way to LFG in game when it should be an advanced feature of a wider LFG system.
Ive guided about 6 NFs total now, all of them without a hitch (or a microphone). Smooth sailing all around tbh. Nightfalls should have plain old matchmaking.
What's the general opinion regarding Tarantula vs Man o' War?
Everytime I see people discuss linear fusion rifles, it's always about the latter and never the former
Do the raids actually take up to five hours?
I'm up for two hours but five hours of non stop playing seems like a bit of to much time to spend on one event.
Can one stop half-way and continue later?
Nah i dont think so. I think this is the easiest raid I've played in destiny. I skipped rise of iron, so i cant compare it to that, but i think this is way easier than taken king, vog, and crota.
Can we talk again about how effing annoying it is for the keys to drop for the exotic chests that you have to then hunt for to use said keys, but then they go away at reset?
This is an infuriating mechanic to me. Often, you have LFG groups, or even groups on Gaf...go for it for a few hours, maybe get past an area or two, then disband...You then have to form ANOTHER group just to use your key...and that new group might not even have the same set of keys.
It would be one thing if you could solo them...but its quite another to have to team up AGAIN to use your key that you have already earned and just want to reap some reward.
Its pointless and to me really irritating.
in a perfect world I think the raid becomes a 2-3 hour event where you can do keys afterward with no issues.

Better Devils might be the best handcannon in Destiny 2
FTFY
LOL. Better Devils is wonderful. I kept hearing good things about true prophecy but I used it once and infused that shit into Better Devils.
Dire Promise might be the best handcannon in Destiny 2
Agreed. It is baffling. They probably were looking at an excuse to make the "underbelly" but from a practical perspective, it is irritating. its just a matter of HOW irritating it is to a player.Bungie's very generous in Destiny 2 everywhere, but the raid for some odd reason.
The design choice to make the chests almost completely separate from the raid area is baffling. Add to that that they are forcing you to have keys to open them to prevent people from just chest farming every week is annoying. Not to mention making checkpoints harder to pass by requiring you to complete the castellum on re-entry.
And raid encounters don't even have guaranteed drops.
It makes it easier for me to say screw the raid already.
Not saying its difficult, its the effort you have to go through to find another team to use the key you already rightfully earned. Its the...one more hoop....thing that gets me...and you cant do it solo...Solo would be fine...With two people they should be easy.
I'll take faster fire rate of the Dire Promise than the Better Devil.FTFY
