Caved in and bought the digital game + season pass (not deluxe, don't want to encourage rl money for a weapon that gets released two months later) I'll wait for Coldheart in December, I'll probably won't play as much as I did with D1 anyway.
Wasn't sure if I'd be into this game due to some mixed reviews and my own mixed feelings. Two things I loved about PVP, Rumble and Mayhem are gone. Clash and Supremacy are okay, but I loved the random Mayhem Clash every few weeks. Strikes feel pointless, I figured it'd be a great way to grind to increase your power level but it looks like people look to nightfalls, raid, trials, and milestones once you get to 270, which will kinda suck because two of those four things I'm not so good at. Not a fan of timed nightfalls either. Raid gear seems pretty underwhelming too which defeats the purpose no? Raid perks were a great incentive but now it just seems more cosmetic and a bragging right.
What I do like, weapons and skills don't need to be grinded. There is a nice story and there are daily things you can do now that aren't boring (like bounties.) I'm surely in the minority about weapons having fixed perks due to how I never even seen a matador 64 ever drop for me. Granted I didn't play PVP every day but it feel pretty dumb that it eluded me for so many years. I was worried that there wouldn't be things to grind, but with shaders and mods being one time use, perhaps I've found something that I can do if I invest too much time into this game like with D1. Definitely not going to no-life this game, so even if they toss exotics at me like candy I know I won't collect every single piece in a week.
I'd like Bungie to reconsider adding raid perks back into the game, even if it's in the form of mods. Only reason why I think they went this route is to keep other gamers from excluding those who never completed it.
